i really liked grigor as a player

this guy is almost women 's dream guy

and i never seen hyped juinor player like grigor
public talked about he is gonna be next roger federer or something
and i live watched 2008 wimbledon boys singles and
his talent was really high
higher than federer i think

i feel like his so under achived
his carret title is only 8 win
only 8
sure , he won masters and tour final
but i feel like he is gonna be something more than that

He spent his life trying to become the perfect copy of federer, and somewhere along the line lost the opportunity to develop his own game. And he contracted nadals radiation sickness hairloss.

What exactly does this have to do with getting to a slam final? Just because you dated certain women doesn't give you a ticket to a slam final or slam title.

Its not entirely irrelevant, we've seen Agassi and Wawrinka improve their grand slam tallies coinciding with dating a fellow tennis player. Coincidence? May be, or is it of benefit to date someone who knows what its all about? I have no idea who hes dating now though I have to admit.

So basically you’ve got a crush on Dimitrov and you felt the need to make a new thread to share this with us?

I think most of it has to do with that weak and highly uncertain topspin backhand of his.

He keeps running around it (like Fed sometimes does) but unlike Fed, he's got very little on that inside out forehand.

So a lot of running to defend the backhand, and then scramble back to hopefully make it to the inevitable deep ball to his exposed forehand side.

He is basically playing as he has a lot of offensive weaponry but in reality he only has his athleticism and forehand (when in time to hit it).

Maybe the OP is just a lousy judge of talent. Many threads expressing surprise that certain players haven't done better, or surprise that certain players have unexpectedly done well and made it to finals.

He’s been switching racquets like crazy. Head sizes, layup, string pattern, specs... hard to have consistency when your equipment keeps changing. Mentally that tells me he’s not confident his racquet is optimized for him. Just having that nagging doubt in your head will turn every error into a self fulfilling prophecy of “that would have been a winner with my old racquet” and so forth. He’s mentally handicapping himself by believing that an insurmountable external factor is preventing him from playing at a higher level. Until he gets rid of that self doubt he’s not going to take the next step.

His problem is that he’s just not that good. He does a bunch of stuff well. He does not a single thing at a “Special” level. In an era with 3 guys who do TONS of **** at a “special” level... ur not making a lot of slam finals

Good logico-analytical resume of Dimitrov's technical deficiencies. His backhand is indeed his biggest weakness. It is too defensive and unreliable.

Mental strength. Dimitrov has the talent, the tennis IQ, and the athletic ability to win Slams, but he lacks the consistent mentality to win on the big stage consistently.
Same problem in Shapovalov and Zverev. Massively talented underachievers, but they have time. Dimitrov is 29 and approaching the end of his prime.

Edit: of course I left out the big technical weakness - the backhand. It's a beautiful stroke, much like Fed's, but it's not nearly as effective as Federer's BH. In the last few years he's tried to avoid that shot completely by slicing and running around it (some matches are almost Karlovic-level BH avoidance), which won't cut it for Slam wins (unless you're Sampras).
