What is it about PCB that makes Djokovic go bonkers?

Nadal taught him a few tricks!

One key thing is that PCB isn't at all intimidated by Djokovic and has a strong mentality. In fact he seems to dislike Djokovic and constantly complains to the refs about him, they have a funny oncourt dynamic actually. He's 30 years old so I guess to be expected, but he really doesn't make many UEs at all and is a pure counterpuncher. He doesn't ever beat himself unlike the NextGens.

The biggest element tho that he's actually quite f-ing good. He legitimately has no weaknesses that are easily attackable, which will annoy everyone he plays, did you see how pissed Medvedev was in the QF? I don't think he would bother Djokovic at all if he wasn't genuinely a good player.

Yep. People who bag PCB's tennis really need to go look at the results of their favourites. If not for an extra gear against the top player he would be a near permanent top 15 player, maybe top 10.

As for those calling him a pusher. Yawn. A guy who hits 95 mile an hour winners for the whole third set and serves Djokovic off the court on the deuce side time and time again isn't a pusher.

Djokovic's injury issue is that his brain exploded trying to figure out how he caught PCB on one of his rare best days.

This is only their sixth meeting and PCB's first non-default win. Novak has generally handled him pretty well, yet PCB seems to get under his skin.

Carreno Busta is a bit of an underachiever. He's a quality ballstriker off both wings, good height, moves well, consistent from the back of the court. He took a while to find his game, only winning his first title at 25, and had some injury issues in 2018/2019 following a strong 2017 which hampered his ranking for a bit. Without them he could have been consistently top 10/15 over these last five or so years.

One of my favourite head to head scores was PCB 7-0 Fognini, but Fabio scuppered the unbeaten record with a win at the ATP Cup this year.

I think Pablo's main deficiency is lack of an elite return. He looks like someone who should be a good returner but his return numbers are middling. Also should probably get more free points off his serve for someone of his frame.

PCB, like RBA, is a conventional player who doesn’t put a lot of pace on the ball and just makes shots, doesn’t bode well for Novak’s game which requires him to have people hit pace towards him so he can redirect it.

Because Djokovic’s game is so diverse and he’s a complete player, he’s been able to still handle these two throughout his career, but their playstyle irks him a lot and gets under his skin, the same way he threw a major tantrum vs Meddy at the ATP Cup 2020 for doing nothing but making shots without any pace.

Djokovic absolutely loses his head whenever he plays PCB, why? :-D

is it cuz he's being out Djokovic'd?

Let's get things in a bit of perspective. This is the first time in 6 meetings that PCB has actually beaten Djokovic in a full match (2020 US Open doesn't count because of Djokovic's disqualification) .

RBA could feasibly be called a pusher.

PCB is not a pusher at all, neither is Djokovic in their style imo. He doesn’t pull the trigger on dumb shots and is really balanced and gets great depth. It is like watching both of them play a mirror of each other. Great matchup.

Consistent, flat hitter that takes what is given. Because Djokovic relies on opponent aggression and errors, and his game is built to redirect high topspin, this drives him crazy.

Did PCB tell Nole to throw the ball or something?

Nothing. It's funny how people think this guy is trouble for Djokovic. A meaningless 3rd place match and freak accident is what we got here.

Djoko has no problem with this guy whatsoever.

He is a way better player then PCB simple as that.
Plus that annoying smirk on his face of a guy that pretends to be your best friend but at first chance would stab you in the back at first opportunity.
Ironically PCB should have been hit with 2 time warnings in that last game, interesting that Djokovic didn't press the ref about it, one serve broke the time limit more then 10 seconds.
