Whats more durable, Pro Supex Big Ace or Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power?

Right now I'm in desperate need of a ridiculously durable string. Feel/power/control/playability is NOT an issue whatsoever, I just need string in my racquet that won't break, and I'll be happy.

I'm not making a hybrid, but a full set-up. I need to decide which string will provide me with most durability, the Pro Supex Big Ace or Luxilon Big Banger ALU power?

Strictly in terms of durability, the ALU will be more durable than the Big Ace. However, the Big Ace will actually hold playing properties longer.

There are other options to consider. An ALU clone with excellent playability and superior durability is the Unique TournaPoly Big Hitter in the 1.30mm. This is the most durable copoly we have found and that finding is supported by USRSA playtest data that rates it as the #1 copoly in terms of durability...second only to Kevlar.

If that doesn't work for you you can also try the TopSpin CyberFlash in a 1.35mm. If it is the mains that are breaking you can go with the 1.35mm in mains and cross it with a thinner version. Also if you are seeking more comfort along with durability and power you might consider giving the Weiss Cannon Scorpion in 1.33mm a go.

The Lux will be VERY hard to break. But it does no good when it has lost tension after 3 hours of playing. Big Ace does hold its properties longer.

Poly is poly, they are going to both be durable and quite dead when you break them. If you break polys frequently, you're going to break both strings in the same ball park.

Just FYI I broke the Luxilon ALU big banger within a month of playing. I was surprised myself because I had heard that these are extremely durable and last ages but turns out not. I had set these at 52lbs. Depends really on how you play them. If you use a tremendous amount of topspin as I do, I don't think it will matter what string you use, you will break them easily.

^ err a month is VERY good durability. You might think you hit with a load of spin but you prob dont....I dont hit with that much spin and I break polys in under 6 hrs play...I know people that will break them in a few hours.

Sorry to break it to you..

I broke mine in a day! :( Worst experience ever with Luxilon lol...Maybe it was just a flimsy set that i had, im not sure but that baby snapped like none other!

You might as well break it in a few days because after that it will be totally dead and you will lose any feel you have in the racket so you would have to cut it out anyway.

No need...really. What I said is true...people break polys in hours not months...you are getting alot of play for your money.

I string for players that break ALU within a 2 hour practice.

ALU is such a tricky string that most people string it too high, thus the perception that it is only good for a little time before it loses too much tension.
