Also, what can we do to return to GOAThood?

Was the viral math problem (questionably written?) their last point of contention? They were the days when posters Breakpoint and Drakulie used to fight, and Oscar Wegner used to post in the Tips section.
288? That was mostly Breakpoint against the world. Drakulie used to have fights with him about rackets and technique and so on.Was the viral math problem (questionably written?) their last battle?
Yeah 288, that was it. I recall there were also other provocative, questionably written math problem that went viral on FB & elsewhere during the pandemic. Designed to create dispute.288? That was mostly Breakpoint against the world. Drakulie used to have fights with him about rackets and technique and so on.
There was no Talk Tennis, Tennis Warehouse or easily accessible internet in the 80s?That's impossible to answer objectively. The answers we give will likely be biased. I am speaking for myself when I say that.
Shocker: I loved the 1980s the most. That was the golden age of tennis to me.
What was your Username back then? Are there Usernames that go further back than Feb of 2004? @Ronaldo and @BreakPoint go back that far but @Rabbit is the earliest one I’ve noticed thus far.I liked it in 1999-2000 when it was mostly educational and the knowledge base amongst rec players about racquets/strings or even textbook methods of technique was small. So it was a valuable online resource for sharing information and having discussions. I don’t even remember if there was a Pro Player section at that time. I was active only at that time picking up valuable equipment knowledge and then dropped out for 15 years. I remember only @Rabbit being around in those early days of TTW.
When I first came back, the Tennis Tips section was definitely better as many coaches were actively posting - I monitored that section for a few years before I rejoined. Now that Tips section is mostly for entertainment purposes and not as educational.
Same as now. The posters did a poll and gave me a MVP award at the end of 2000 for my helpful postings even though I had quit TTW two months prior when I changed jobs. I found out second hand through a friend. What was your Username back then?
Are any of your posts from that period still accessible? Are any posts at all accessible prior to 2004?Same as now. The posters gave me a MVP award at the end of 2000 for my helpful postings even though I had quit TTW two months prior when I changed jobs. I found out second hand through a friend.
I have no interest in finding out. You can ask the TTW Staff. Are any of your posts from that period still accessible? Are any posts at all accessible prior to 2004?
Breakpoint got hounded out of here. Iirc, he also spoke in favour of wooden rackets for which he received some flak.recall a time when @BreakPoint was the first Bionic poster and was so far ahead of the crowd it looked like he would never be challenged as the message count leader. But now he’s been surpassed by @stringertom and more than a dozen others
There was also a very knowledgeable poster called @tricky .They were the days when posters Breakpoint and Drakulie used to fight, and Oscar Wegner used to post in the Tips section.
@tricky is missed. Both insightful as well as knowledgeable. There was also a very knowledgeable poster called @tricky .
tricky - come back! We need you!
What's happened to legendary Talk Tennis resident professor, tricky!? His analytical know how and way of communicating insights and advice was not only unique but also of the very, very highest order IMO. Not having him around on these boards lately means that the 'tennis tips' section...tt.tennis-warehouse.com
Agreed. It’s common knowledge that the most awesome posters joined in 20062006 was definitely the pinnacle.
I also loved @slice bh compliment and @Dedans Penthouse .There were some posters that held memorable grudges way back when. gj011's legendary hatred of fresh green trolls (basically everyone that didn't worship Djokovic) was pretty high up there, though Deuce's vocal dislike of the Head Premier Tour and devila's enmity toward both (fat) Federer and (fat) Roddick weren't far behind.
On the positive side, I really do miss !Tym - long-winded as the posts were, they were always great to read.
EDIT: Man, this is really bringing back memories. I remember Phil's and Datacipher's contributions usually being worth a read as well, though god rest the souls of those who dared to hold a contrary opinion (that was naturally always wrong). Good times.
You helped lead the NextGen and picked up the slack after most of the goat TTW gen retired. So 2006, 2012... So no matter what we do now, it will be worthless?. I am offended. I am leaving tomorrow.
Despair not. Even tho we've gone thru a relatively weak era in the past decade, a Renaissance hopefully awaits us in the not-too-distant future. So 2006, 2012... So no matter what we do now, it will be worthless?. I am offended. I am leaving tomorrow.
NextGen? Thanks for the backhanded compliment. You helped lead the NextGen and picked up the slack after most of the goat TTW gen retired.
Yeah, I was a customer of TW from way back. A buddy of mine, who was also a customer, told me they had started the boards. I got on and back then they had one forum. After a few months, I suggested to Don Hightower that they break the boards into separate topics. We had a couple of emails back and forth and he liked the idea. I'm in IT so stuff like that kinda comes natural to me. Even today if I see an error on the retail site I'll let them know. It's nit picking, but that was my life for 35 years. What was your Username back then? 100%, they were great too!I also loved @slice backhandcompliment and @Dedans Penthouse .
I was waiting until someone dropped "weak era" in the thread. Bravo.Despair not. Even tho we've gone thru a relatively weak era in the past decade, a Renaissance hopefully awaits us in the not-too-distant future.
What happened in Feb of 2004? Was the forum completely revamped with the older stuff becoming inaccessible?Yeah, I was a customer of TW from way back. The "Golden Years" were when topics hadn't been brought up before. I think the average age of posters is lower now than then and you get a lot of fan-boyish type posts. I used to post a lot in the former pro section defending Laver and the greats. Now, I stick mostly to the Stringing Techniques/Stringing Machines forum. Even there I've cut way back because whether someone starts a string a) or b) just doesn't make that much difference to me. I do remember @socallefty from the olden days.
'picked up' or pickled up:?)) just saw youtube clips legends ags/rodick/etcetc n nxt gen legends young guns all in the pickle jar lololololol..........You helped lead the NextGen and picked up the slack after most of the goat TTW gen retired.
I always read your equipment posts with interest back in the day, Rabbit. When I moved to Cincinnati in 2000, I dabbled in Volkl thanks to all your trials with the Quantum Series and the old 'Halloween' C8. Larry Hall (remember that blast from the past?!) linked me up with a guy in Thailand (or was it Malaysia?) selling Major racquets for like $65 in those days. Loved Thomas Martinez's stories of stringing on the pro tour and got a lot of rare frames from him...Europe only Fischers, pro stock Mizunos, Snauwaert Mikael Pernfors. I still miss Phil and his dark sense of humor.Yes. They upgraded the software and didn’t carry the old stuff forward.

I think I joined in '99 and was most active in the early to mid 2000s. I just don't have the interest or time (4 kids) to post much anymore but I still do a 10 minute review every morning. Cheers and happy weekend! My fave sports time of year with March Madness going on.
Dude! Hello my old Wildcat friend! We both bounced out early in the tournament. I do indeed remember Sir Larry Hall as well as NoBadMojo. While I don't miss either of them, I do miss Phil, Kilgore Trout, and a few others I cannot name at present.I always read your equipment posts with interest back in the day, Rabbit. Judy In Disguise? In the mid 2000's Judy Murray was beautiful. She has only blossomed since, dem fine woman.

Not much for us in the SEC to brag about this year, save the Vols. Miss St was solid this year-I was honestly shocked they lost. Hope all is well in the Magnolia State.Dude! I was at the Kentucky/MSU game earlier this year and sat behind Josh Hubbard's parents. I sure thought we had you, lead the entire game and then Reed Sheppard came off the bench to score 34(or 6) and snatch the game from us with 1 second left.
Yes that was the high point.LeeD second serves which hit the fence 7 feet high were the talk of the board at one time
GD was posting under that name in 2018 but never closed that account (and it appears he's not accessed it since 2021). But he was posting under @grzewas in 2020. Even tho he hasn't posted anything since then, he does look in every once in a while with that account.Bring back @Gregory Diamond. Strong era Tips & Instructions. I hurt myself laughing and arguing with our very own top5 Polish vet. His two handed forehand was a Hall of Fane shot.
