I voted Raonic, though I'd love to see Thiem, Dimitrov, or Zverev. Delpo would of course be awesome too. Basically anyone BUT Raonic on this list would make me happy!

Del Potro > Raonic > Dimitrov > Nishikori > Thiem > Zverev

Know he is injured, but I went for Del Potro because he has done it before. I think Nishikori is one and done in terms of gs finals. Up to him to prove me wrong.

Of them, only Del Potro has a chance. Not a good chance, mind you, but if he miraculously gets healthy he'd be a threat to anyone, anywhere. (But alas, "miraculously" is part of it.)

The other guys on the list just aren't slam material. Although Thiem, Zverev, and Dimitrov still have hope of getting there one day.

Raonic has a couple big weapons, but unfortunately, they're the wrong weapons for the era he lives in. He had his miracle run last year when he snuck by an injured Fed at Wimby. (Sadly, it took him five sets to do it. Oof.)

Nishikori's biggest weapon is a drop shot. LOL.

Voted Zverev. Still looking forward to the day when "tomorrow's champion" wins today. Still think he's got the game and temperament to do it. It's gonna happen sooner or later... llllllet's get to it already. Like a notable exclusion, btw. :)

Raonic.

I think injury-prone Del Potro's slam days are over, Nishikori doesn't have the stamina, Dimitrov doesn't have the mentality, Thiem is vastly overrated, and Zverev is still maturing.

Is that all CW, though? The typical rub on each guy? Nobody can spring a surprise?

I guess Raonic. None of them will win a slam this year though. 2017 is all Nole an Murray.. Maybe Nadal will surprise someone at a slam this year and steal one. Possible still

Really hope Delpo. Zverev taking the world by storm would be really great for the game but I still think he's a year away. I could see him making moves at the end of the year ala Delpo 2008. Hopefully Zverev can be what Delpo was robbed of being.

I reckon Delpo- he had a major comeback last year, and he seems well enough to do it again if he got a favorable draw and was fully uninjured. Raonic is a close second in my book, but I don't see him as very consistent in slams, particularly not last year. If he starts making some deep runs, then he could switch with Delpo. Until then, Delpo will be the most likely of 2017.

It would be a surprise if any of them won this year, and I think Raonic has the best chance of springing the surprise.
To me, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if Raonic took one. He's been knocking at the door.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Dimitrov. I think he's turned a corner. His play in brisbane was purposeful - haven't seen him commit like that in a long time. He looks fit and strong, he has some experience and technically he is at the start of his prime now. A deep run in Aus would set his year up for him to regain top8 seedings.

Thiem is over-rated, a little too one dimensional and not quite powerful enough like stan to pull it off, needs to improve serve.

Raonic - with a serve like that don't count him out, his fh is very underrated and his movement for his size. Tough to improve returns at 6'6'' with a polarised frame but he needs to get that better.

Zverev - we got a glimpse of his improved power in Perth - will be the next big thing in 12-18 months as he grows into his body.

Nishikori - needs his body right which is liable. Hard to improve serve with his height but he is a threat with a kind draw for a french or US win.

Deploy - mm that backhand is not the same but his fh and serve are so big. Would need to find a bit more in the bh I think

Raonic will never win a slam if Djokovic or Murray is on the other side of the net. 0-9 last year against both speaks volumes.

Del Potro. He has actually proven that he can beat Djokovic and Murray unlike Raonic. Though I doubt either will win a slam this year

TBH, the more I watch Nishikori, the less of a chance I see him having. When playing Grigor in Brisbane, he made WAY too many UEs. He burned out (no pun intended). I'd say most of it was Dimitrov's improved mentality and playstyle, but his form and shape just don't seem viable for a Grand Slam win. Zverev is like the tall lanky high schooler who moves awkwardly but gets stuff done. Thiem needs to mature a little, but he has a lot of potential with his shot selection. Raonic is literally a servebot. Delpo is sitting out of the Aussie Open, but I think he still has one more left in him.

Going with Zverev, too. Really, really strong allround game. Hits a consistent and heavy ball. Not too dependant on his serve, like a certain other guy in the poll.

Nishikori has proven so little. What has he? 1 F, 1 SF and 2-3 QFs? Mental midget.

Yeah, exciting prospects for him. Looking forward to the way that plays out.

Re the other choices, I'd be fairly pleased to see just about any of them win a/nother major title. If pressed, I could make a pretty strong case against any of 'em, but I'm feeling charitable. :) I actually do like Nishi... and I do expect big things from Zverev, but my vote was almost 50 root/50 think.
