Who had a better career, Wawrinka or Safin?

Marat Safin: Hits hard on both wings, big serve, good net play, but lack of consistency. He won his 1st GS at the 2000 US Open defeating a past prime Sampras. Won his 2nd GS at the 2005 Australian Open defeating prime Lleyton Hewitt and prime Federer(SF) Also won 5 Masters 1000. 1 in Toronto(2000), 3 in Paris(2000,2002,2004) and 1 in Madrid(2004). Been a career high as No.1 in the world. Also won the Davis Cup in 2002 and 2006.

Stan Wawrinka: Hit hard on both wings(Now, but before forehand of lacking consistency, and power) He's pretty good at net and has a big serve. Won his 1st GS in 2014 defeating past prime Nadal(Even though he won RG that year) Won his 2nd at the 2015 FO defeating prime Djokovic. Won 1 Masters 1000 at Monte Carlos(2014) Been a career high of No.3 in the world and won Davis Cup in 2014.

So who had a better career? Obviously Stan's career isn't over yet. They both have a similar game(offensive baseliner), good on both wings, big serve. Both won 2 GS each. I'll give Stan the slight edge because he improved his mentality under the guidance of Magnus Norman. Also he isn't injury prone like Safin. Only if Safin would've gotten his mentality straight and didn't get injured alot then I'd have gone with Safin. What are your thoughts?

Safin quite clearly. Same number of slams but more finals and equal numbers of big wins + more masters and a higher YE ranking.

Marat all over Stan; talent, power, touch, and a huge USO victory over Sampras! Safin annihilated all comers when "on!" Stan has the potential, but lost more than he won! ;-)

Safin as both the better player and having the better career, maybe if Stan has another successful season I might swing his way but I think he may be done winning slams.

Safin's #1, multiple finals appearances and masters push him above Stan career wise for me.

Another thread really?! Stan at this point can't be compared to number 1 players ... perhaps Rios and Kafelnikov..
