Who has the best backhand in the ATP tour? A hard choice for me. Because Nole has the best backhand down the line, Rafa the best backhand pass and Gasquet the best overal. What is youre choice. Feel free to say youre opinion.

Currently Djoker without a doubt.

His hard flat BH DTL in the Dubai final had Federer scrambling and gave him the advantage in nearly every point he used it.

I'd give the slight edge to Novak & his 2-handers and his impressive 2handers down the line over Gasquets 1-handers. While Gasquets has more versatility, Novaks are faster and more penetrating then Gasquet's.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Murray. I mean from a consistent standpoint he has a really really good backhand. It's not quite as powerful as it could be, but he's really solid from the backhand side.

In this order... I have to admit I am somewhat moved by the beauty of the motion itself.

1. Nalbandian - Pure awesomeness.
2. Wawrinka - Down the line...
3. Gasquet - Mixing it up.
4. Almagro - Topspin supreme with a jump.
5. Djokovic - Assassin.

Honorary place - Federer. Nobody talks about how good a mixed slice can be.

I respectfully disagree. If you were to give these two a grade on backhands, I would give Gasquet a 98% and Djoker a 95%. However, Djoker is more consistent from match to match with his backhand and his forehand far better than Gasquet's.

1. Nalbandian / Federer in a GOAT day
2. Djokovic
3. Gasquet
4. Murray
5. Davydenko (far better than Nadal)
...
997. Feli López
998. Karlovic
999. Federer in a CLOWN day

Didn't Wawrinka destroy everyone in BH winners at the AO? His BH isn't inconsistent either.

Gasquet can rip a backhand winner from anywhere. He runs around his forehand to hit a backhand. If he had a serve that wasn't a complete joke, and a forehand that was decent, he would be on the top of this list, yet he doesn't have great results so people ignore his obviously legendary backhand.

The guy will fade away and hardly be remembered except for a few french people, and maybe it's deserved but the greatest tragedy is that his backhand was never given the proper respect it deserves. Putting Murray, Nadal and Djokovic and even Federer (come on!) on the same list as Gasquet when it comes to backhands is laughable.

His serve is actually pretty good, it's his forehand and shot-selection/mentality that kill him.
