Who is still using the Wilson 90?

Anyone still using the 90, or gone back to it after a while from a larger headed racquet (maybe like the RF)?

I thought about gaming the Tour 90 this season and still might give it a try. I am really snoring my Tour G 330 frames bit have always loved midsized frames 93-85. I may pick one up, they're only $99!!!

Can't believe 100sq in frames are getting "mid" placed on them :/

So sad....

I agree. If I see a racquet with a 100sq head labelled as a midsize, that is just wrong.

It's been noted lately that Prince have been calling anything between a 95 and a 98 a midsize. Maybe they think that the evolution of racquets to having larger headsizes makes anything sub-100 a midsize.

The only advice I can give to maintain any semblance of sanity is to ignore all references to 'midsize', 'midplu's and 'oversize' and just focus on the headsize you like the best. It's the only way or it'll drive you nuts.

I'll be picking one or two up here in the next couple of days. I played so well with it several months ago, I don't know why I ever stopped using it. It was probably the success I've had with the RF97. Since I'm currently not playing competitive as much, the RF is a little too much for rec tennis and hitting easy mixed doubles

I use a BLX 6.1 90, but I don't have enough free time to practice/work out so my 3 set matches are beginning to look like this --- 6-1, 5-7, 3-6 -- I play amazing when feeling fresh, but as I tire, I can no longer get the racquet head speed I was getting in the first set and I end up losing (this has happened to me twice recently). I think I am going to have to switch to a 6.1 95 variation (maybe the nCode just because!)

I'm playing with the 90 and been actually happy with it, despite my technically faults sometimes.
At the beginning of the season i had some trouble due to a 6 month long pause. Out of desperation after a loss, i bought an APD and played with it 3 or 4 times. It isn't bad, but in comparison it felt like a toy. I missed the weight, control and plowthrough and had the same mishits with the APD. It was not the racquet, but a timing issue.
So i switched back to my 4 PS90.

ALL my main sticks are 90.

And I'm going back to 85 ...

Wilson Staff 85 & PS 85
Donnay Graphite Lady (This is a sick stick!)
Head Composite Edge

Oh, and Yamaha YFG30 -- 65 sqin conventional head

Well, I take it out once in a while for fun, but in competitive tournaments (4.0-4.5) my game just breaks down too quickly with the 90.

I get better results with other racquets, but obviously, no other racquet I've used (tried almost 30 of them) felt as sweet as this one. This one made me realize what guys mean when they talk about an extension of their arm.

I mentioned it in the 90 and "modern game" thread, but I just played a current d1 guy at an open tourney that uses the 90... and he can serve BOMBS with the thing... lots of pace and they were kicking up over my shoulders (I'm 6'4")

I'm competitive in 4.5. And I don't take my 90 out "once in a while", it's my main racquet that I practice with, do drills with, and play matches in (practice match and real match).

If you only use it once in a while to mess around, then you don't that racquet. That's like saying someone's an advent snowboarder, but goes only once a year.

It was my previous racquet, and I just really loved it. Sweet midsize box beam, fantastic feel, stability, great racquet. Though I switched to the PB 10 Mid and I still enjoy relatively heavy racquets.

Used to use it competitively, but after hitting a customization sweetspot with the 95 I haven't looked back. Will put mine up for sale soon.

I use to have a few 90's over the years but they weren't for me. My game wasn't there with them, where I ended up selling them online.

I've got one ... everybody should have one at the $99 price point. I don't use it in league play though. maybe one day ...

The K90 is my primary stick. It is the best and most dependable racquet ever made, in my opinion. But I gravitate between the K90, the PST 90, the K88, and the PS 85. I played with the PS BLX 90 for a bit, but I've more or less abandoned it -- it is simply too light and weak for me. I've been playing with the Yonex 89 the past few weeks to try something new. It is also a really good racquet -- terrific feel and wonderful plow-through. It feels like a first cousin to the Pro Staff line.

I have one that I pull out every time I start becoming sloppy with my stroke preparation and boy does it work its magic. Timing the serves is the hardest thing to do every time I pick it up but boy is it a work of art! Too bad neither my game nor my strength are good enough for this stick.

I have never served better than with the various 90s from wilson, the ps85, and my go to POG Mids. For that matter, I don't feel like I lack for power at all in general... the only thing I notice with bigger heads is that I can't tell where the ball is going as well.

I still use the BLX 6.1 90, in addition to two Prostaff 90 2014's but I like the 2012 BLX better, and I want another one.

Switched to the 90 from a KBlade 98 recently. I have more fun with the 90 and it feels nicer on my OHBH.
I'm only playing recreationally though.

Still can't play for more than 90 minutes with it, something I'm working on :)

Just got my nCode yesterday. Man, what a difference these racquets make! Coming from my RF97, this 90 is just like it only without the bulk. I went back and watched some 05-06 Federer matches compared to 2015. It's amazing the differences in his swing with each one. He played a lot looser and confident with the 90, and he had blistering pace. You could see his pinpoint accuracy with the 90. Cool to watch. Probably gonna pick up a 2014 90 (again). And add a little lead to it like others have said. Amazingly, my nCode 90 weighs just 12.2oz with 2 over grips (took the leather off), strings and dampener.

My main racket is 90... I am still trying to figure out which iteration I like best... I think the black-red BLX90... That's where it all started... Playing with Wilson again, with 90s and becoming a racket addict... Playing with some PS85s occasionally too and all kind of other rackets...

I just traded my three for the Head Prestige Pro's. I need more head size and a little less weight to come around on.

Just curious...and not "picking" on you, but I just see a trend.

So you stated " I played so well with it several months ago" and still went to an RF97? Why? Are you a marketers dream...just blindly following Rog? Did you originally arrive at the PS 90 in the first place because of Rog? If that is the case dare I say there may be a completely different brand and model out there that is ideal for you...free your mind, pay NO ATTENTION to which Pro plays with it, and DEMO free of marketing hype!

Not one of the sticks in my signature were used by any of my faves...granted it'd be a nice cool coincidence, but they simply work for me.

Well, I moved to a place that has a tennis court and I have focused more on hitting with the kids and have taken a break from leagues and tournaments. I wanted something less powerful to hit with my 14 yo son and mixed doubles with my wife. My shots were hard to dial back with the RF97. So I decided to go back to the 90. It's just a lot more controllable.

Came back to my 2014 90PS and left my Pure Storm Tour in the dust... Just so much more control and feel... Strung it up,with a full bed of natty gut and it's a laser guided rocket... May the good Lord have mercy on the lines!

I had a pretty good hitting session with the nCode 90 this evening and was hitting some heavy controlled shots. Sweet racquet. It's like a lazy mans RF97.

I noticed the exact same differences with his swing with the nCode, very telling.

He was 9-10 years younger, pretty sure that has something to do with it.

Probably had more to do with Roger being 25 instead of 34...

Well, my swing hasn't changed in over 40 years.

Federer had to adjust his swing for the 97. Almost everyone who switches from the Tour 90 to the RF97A has to adjust their swing or else they'd be hitting the back fence if they used the same exact swing since they have similar swingweights, static weights, and string patterns but the RF97A has a bigger stringbed and is stiffer and more powerful.

Yeah, he was younger, but there is a discernable difference in his swing and accuracy. I only watched it because I noticed a difference in my own swing and game and how I played with the 90 compared to the RF97. If I was only looking for age/ play differences, then I would go back and watch Nadal and Djokovic to see how their games have changed over the last 10 years. But they are basically playing with the same racquets (Djok changed but it was more than 5 years ago).
