Both Sinner and Alcaraz, when they win a point, at every point, they clench their fists and look at the pits. And that, not to mention the finger on the temples.

It's just boring and irritating.

Kevin Anderson was very atrocious, at EVERY POINT he won, he shouted: COME ON!

I miss when a certain Swiss man celebrated SOMETIMES, shouting to himself:

CHUM JETZE!

How thin skinned are you guys I don’t understand how you can care so much. If Sinner, the mildest guy on tour, is irritating you with his fist pump “arrogance” I really don’t know what to say aside from it’s a good thing you’re the one watching and not playing, because you wouldn’t stand a chance like that

What is this new thing here where Sinner cannot under any circumstance be questioned in any way, shape or form and cannot be criticized under penalty of death? People are going to hate whoever they want to, even if they're a mild, nice guy. For 22 years, Fed behaved perfectly on court (with several exceptions) and he was reviled by 70% of people here from rival fanbases. Maybe the "thin skinned" charge is projection-- think about it. Why would you care so much if some random tool thinks Sinner's fist pumps are annoying? Who cares what they think. The more success he has, the more vitriol will come his way, so best get used to it. Alcaraz is hated here by endless clowns and for no reason whatsoever. If Taylor Fritz won Wimbledon, the sheer loathing would bust the TTW servers.

It's just boring, irritating and repetitive. It looks like a lack of confidence in yourself, as you clench your fists and look at the pits.

Seems to want approval from his coach.

Sinner and Alcaraz do this at almost every point

And even more annoying is when the coaches reciprocate by clenching their fists. Applause sounds better, and is more elegant on the part of the player's staff.

I forgot to mention Wawrinka who created the gesture of placing the finger on the temples, and it became a terrible craze among tennis players.

But there's nothing worse than tearing your shirt. It doesn't seem like behavior to me in a sport where gentlemen play

Unpleasant.

Sinner obviously.
It can look macho when some guys do it - which i quite like, but with arms as thin as Sinners, it seems as if he's overcompensating.

Kandy had a very good online course about the importance of Fistpumping on his old site but it was replaced by some junk site. Link to the Kandy curriculum below. Fistpumping in tennis is both more important and more of an art than many realize.

You're right about people being free to hate anyone for no reason but it's funny to see how can someone hate someone like Sinner who is a nice, humble and respectful to everyone ? Fed was not humble in his prime and that's okay but comparing him to Sinner who is very grounded and a nice guy is kinda unfair.

I think Carlos's fist pump on every point is kinda lame and forced. It annoys me a lot.

We've got used to Nadal but his is much more contrived. He does the whole dance with it and you can only nail something like that if you practice it. Cringe

Nadal doesn't fist pump on every point, also it never sounded forced, might sound over the top for many at times though.

i mean the whole dance step with the knee thrust and raised fist, sometimes even a stutter-step or a skip. It's not the kind of thing that just happens spontaneously

It does tbh and it came after he wins important points, it doesn't come on every second point, neither does his first pump. In southern Europe and in Latin America celebration is way more intense and passionate . You gotta see Southern European and latin American football players doing way more intense and passionate celebration.

That’s why people hate him. :sneaky:

I think more cocky and arrogant Sports players are more fans love them. I will like Sinner to be bit cocky and throw that boring hat to develop superstar personality.

I don’t see that ever happening. It doesn’t seem his personality. I think he will be more an Edberg-like champion as far as personality.

Sinner has the worst face on tour, and the fist pumps are only annoying when you have an annoying face.

One way you can win is by making your opponent feel defeated.

Except a true champion may be annoyed by your post point celebration, but will never let it affect him. Instead he’ll beat you first. Afterwards, maybe he will steal your celebration. :)

So for me I don’t mind Sinner’s fist pumps at all. He is also a very likable player, I just remember the time Sinner won the match and didn’t even realize it. Stay focused on winning each point. Then the match. That’s it.

Alcaraz fist pumps look inoffensive and mostly directed to himself. Sinner fist pumps are irritating and don’t look like for self encouragement but an arrogant way to show who’s the boss. Him and Norrie must have the most unlikeable faces on tour. It’s no wonder most Fedal fans prefer Alcaraz while most Djokovic fans prefer Sinner (according to my recent polls).

On the women's side, I found Ana Ivanovic's fistpumps to be pretty irritating. They looked so fake, forced and unnatural, and as if she was trying to 'act tough' in front of others.

Add to that showing your teeth by making a feline grimace. A lot of players do this now, but Berrettini was the most annoying.

I had absolutely no idea Wawa was thinking while on the court until he put his finger to his head. Then I almost immediately forgot whether he was thinking but a few points later he reminded me by conveniently placing his finger to his head again. Yup, still thinking out there. 8-B Obviously I'm glad so many other players do it because otherwise who knows if they're thinking at all while on the court.

Why is nobody questioning that stupid thing where doubles teams have to fistbump after EVERY point no matter if they won or lost it? I liked it when they just shook hands after the match. Will they have support animals on court next to help them get over lost points?

Stan was probably very often thinking he should hit the ball even harder next time.

Covered in topics 3 and 4 in his course:

"Why you should always fistpump after every point."

and

"Fistpumping to annoy the opponent."

What made me chuckle was the Chair has to at least pretend to listen to whatever the players are whining about. :)

I can't pinpoint when this started or by who. I want to know how and why this became a thing and who is responsible. I think this one should be pulled out of the cold case files and a real effort made to track down the guilty parties.

He didn't do it that much when younger. When he started doing it he had his best results so at least worked for him.
