i play guy who tries to not hit bh he runs to the alley and hits fh very awkward i just hit to bh side and he ends up in dubbles alley and then next shot is easy and open spaces
i feel bad for man best tip is to hit much bh so you dont run to fh for all ball

People play to their strengths and avoid their weaknesses. That’s a bit extreme though. He’s never going excel as a tennis player if he continues doing this. He should get a coach (or even video tutorials and practice on his own) and work on developing that BH.

It is normal for pros to cover 2/3rd of the court with the forehand, on slow courts maybe even 3/4 but if you hit forehands outside the BH corner sideline you better have exceptional footspeed and a forcing forehand.

Some players made that work, especially some 90s clay courters from Spain but it only works with great footspeed, endurance and on slow courts because on fast courts you won't get to balls into the wide forehand.

Key against those players is to avoid the middle, either hit wide into the backhand or wide into the forehand and make him hit outside the sidelines.

I am a staunch opponent of avoiding the backhand. You basically give your opponent an easy game plan - hit to the backhand corner and open up the court. You're reduced to guessing between a down-the-line shot to the open court or a CC shot you have to run around. Against lefties you're especially vulnerable, no matter how good your forehand is (as Fedal have taught us over and over).

Any solid player needs a good backhand.

Players are going to have strengths and weaknesses... Maybe if he worked on his BH, his FH wouldn't be quite as good

I'm just saying you can go very far with this gameplan. And like with all the matchups in tennis, you are going to be more vulnerable against some players

I remember playing a match against a pretty good 4.0 couple years back. He had a good serve and good FH, but the BH was pathetic.
In the first set, he can run around and win a lot of points. But in the 2nd set, he ran out of gas and i didn't even have to do anything, just hit to his body lol.

Biggest problem is as you age and slow down it becomes a huge liability. I've played some guys that avoid it and know that can't get around to their FH anymore and are sitting ducks. Why transition to doubles only real fast.
