I'm eager to see if Fed can win another Wimbledon to make Petey fans cry even more.

Didn't you get the new memo? It's not real grass, so he could win 25, they don't count anyway and Pete is better than him thanks to the "stronk" competition he had (ie Goran, Goran and, er... oh, yes, Pioline). 'Dre said so, so it must be true.

If that's all true (if they really believed it), they wouldn't still be crying to this day and desperately hanging on the Wilanders of any player with the best shot to beat Fed. It's a hilarious sight.

P.S. There was no confirmation/source of Agassi saying those things.

Yeah, I know. We should probably ask Amy Foster, or whatever their name is. This person seems to know tons of former pros who like to say exactly the same thing to disparage Fed, so I'm sure we could have a confirmation coming from Ivanisevic, Chang, or BJK, take your pick.

True. We Fed fans are always fooling ourselves.

On the other hand, Rafa is certainly NOT playing for the slam record. Absolutely not. He said so, so it must be true. He's also not chasing the #1 rank or the YE #1, only Federer is obsessed with these things.

Fed plays only for money, Rafa does not care about it at all.

Fed's charities are all a front, Nadal's are all genuine.

Fed is arrogant, Nadal is humble.

Fed played in a weak era (1998-2018), and Nadal in a strong era (2001-2018).

Fed's fans are fake/mean/obnoxious, Nadal's are genuine/nice/warm and cuddly.

Rafa plays only for passion, even though he seems to dislike everything about tennis like the 25/20 second rule ( which is flagrantly violated after each point), he hates umpires who enforce rules, he doesn't like the height of the net, he doesn't like the one year ranking system, he doesn't like grass or faster courts, he doesn't like people who can serve an ace, he doesn't like short points, he hates winners only liking UE's. Makes me wonder what the passion is for :D

I hope Fed fans will realize all these truths and stop fooling themselves.

Ciao.

I never said anything about Nadal.

Obviously he and Fed have the same motivations - i.e. to break all records and be considered GOAT.

Didn't Paul McCartney say in the sixties that his aim was to make enough money not to have to keep on working? He now has enormous amounts of money and yet he keeps on touring and making records.

If you enjoy what you do why would you stop before you have to?

Anyway I planned to start a celebratory thread on Fed's twenty years on tour but never got round to it so I'll just revive this thread instead. I found this little gem about his debut on 7th July 1998:

Roger held a press conference on Monday, speaking about his Wimbledon success, but also about the fact he wasn't happy with the organizers' decision to put his match against Tommy Haas outside the centre court

That's our boy!!!!!

What a ride it has been and hopefully not quite over.
