Will they swap Tsonga for Gasquet against Federer?

Dying to see Gasquet play in singles.

Might they swap him for Tsonga since he Tsonga bombed against Wawrinka, and Gasquet has a good track record against Federer on clay?

Gasquet actually matches up well against Federer on clay because Gasquet's backhand is a bit like a Nadal forehand, and kicks it up high to Federer's backhand.

Tactically I think it would make sense to swap him in.

Is it going to happen?

Lol. If Clement wants Fed to write a nice career chapter, than yes. Tsonga in current form is way more troublesome then Gasquet I think. Especially after today. I think Benneteau might even be a better option.

They should swap Tsonga for anybody else at this stage. Folded mentally and lost his first match. Blamed the public afterwards. Then begged out of doubles the next day and was very emotional during national anthem. The guy is a mess :-/

Will they send Simon ? He has given Fed all kinds of trouble, probably more than all the other Frenchies put together.

So Fed vs JB?

Yep, it will be a tightly contested match. Hope that Roger can withstand the onslaught!

If Reeshard plays he should be on the phone right now with Piatti for advices and pep talk. I think Raonic would allow it.

They can change it up to an hour before the match starts.

So does France let rumors swirl in an attempt to confuse Fed/the Swiss until a decision is announced an hour before, or do they change the line-up pretty soon and try and beat the speculation head-on?

I don't think they can. Simon wasn't originally picked for the team so I don't think he can play at all. I might very well be wrong though.

They did today but it makes little difference for tomorrow. Fed has seen it all in singles.

You should see the line-up games that are played in USTA, line-up changes at the last minute possible, waiting for your opposition to show their hand first eventhough it's supposed to be a swap at the same time, you hear things.

None of it matters. Tsonga is the only other player that can contest Fed on clay now that his back feels better and he has spent more time on the surface. Only ? is if his back is OK tomorrow.

Whoever plays it's going to be a hell of an occasion. Would France's best chance be to play JB? :D Jo and Richie are career chokers, and even with home advantage if one of them can actually beat Roger tomorrow with all the momentum (and maybe the support??) on his side... That'd probably be a career best victory.
