Fedr.I didn't vote. You forgot option#3: Fedr.
Indeed.Wimbledon is just a suburb of London at the end of the day.
the wombles live underground on Wimbledon common..dunno if any of them ever went to the tennis though.I always thought it was Wimbleton where the Wombles supposedly live.
But no, it seems that it is Wimbledon after all
I actually hate it when they use those terms.SW19

"Flushing Meadows"
Apparently our American friends get bombarded with ads for Melbourne during the AO as well.Whatever happened to Flinders Park?, named initially after that great explorer.
Re-badged for the greater glory of promoting Melbourne, unfortunately.
I like things organized and neat.
Wimbledon and SWwhatever is nice an all when isolated from the other three but it’s goddamned annoying for my excel worksheets and symmetry.
Australian Open
French Open
English Open
American Open
Or,
Australia Open
France Open
UK Open
US Open
That is indeed correct, maybe too late to change the poll though.Thought it was The Championships at Wimbledon.
Thought it was The Championships at Wimbledon.
SW19 is a postcode so I've never heard anyone refer to the tennis site as SW19. Casual fans I've heard just say 'wimbeldon tennis'. I personally say championshipsIf you live in Wimbledon or are very connected to the tournament in various ways, its The Championships for sure. Londoners tend to say SW19.
But for all others Wimbledon is it.
In London SW19 is a very popular sort of address to have. When I was looking for a place to live there, prizes were up in SW19 contrary to SW20(not that far from The Championship.SW19 is a postcode so I've never heard anyone refer to the tennis site as SW19. Yeah Wimbledon is a expensive area overall and is pretty posh, particularly the village area. Not as much as Chelsea or centralIn London SW19 is a very popular sort of address to have. Every time I had to tell my address I kind of felt proud having an SW19 address. Rather silly, but thats how it is. Posh SW19 lol.
Inspired by the French Open or Roland Garros thread. What do you prefer, Wimbledon or The Championships. Personally I prefer Wimbledon, The Championships is just a bit too cocky and arrogant.
Just realised both are in the logo so it's not necesarilly either of them, oh well.
Yeah, some years ago I had the chance to move to UK and London. It was SW19 or nothing for me. I lived close to the village. Was my playground for 4 years. Most fun years of my life. Absolutely loved it! So many nice locals I felt at home.Yeah Wimbledon is a expensive area overall and is pretty posh, particularly the village area. Not as much as Chelsea or central
But it's definitely towards the higher end. I'm lucky to live here. The obsession with area code has a lot to do with Class still being an important aspect of life in the Uk.
Haha you remind me of my mom! She’s not a huge tennis fan but she loved Pistol Pete for some reason..The Pete open? I still have this mental connection that Wimbledon=Sampras.
I'm not saying that I love him or that he is better, just that my association is still there. When I think Wimbledon, I see Pete.Haha you remind me of my mom! She’s not a huge tennis fan but she loved Pistol Pete for some reason..
She still thinks Sampras is better than Federer...
He was a bit before my time so the association isn’t really there for me.I'm not saying that I love him or that he is better, just that my association is still there. When I think Wimbledon, I see Pete.
It's there's a sense of great community around here. Most people keep up with one another. What lead to you moving away?Yeah, some years ago I had the chance to move to UK and London.
