WISE 2086 - error code #15

Hi! Tried stringing my squash racket at 26 lbs and getting error code #15! What could it mean? Gt several pulls ok and then get it on 3rd pull... Putting Prince Syn Gut as I don't have squash strings.

Did some more tests - getting this error only at very low tensions, but no problem with standard tensions for tennis rackets. However 26 lbs I was trying to pull is well above advertised lowest tension of 15 lbs...

Still no solution from Wise.

Here's video of the problem - successful pulls @ 50/45/40/35/30 lbs and then error #15 @ 25 lbs.

You should try changing the speed setting. The speed setting is how fast the machine pulls the string. You probably have it set to 3 (fastest) -- try it at 2 or 1 (slowest). From watching your video, the machine appears to do a reset/reboot in the middle of the pull. Syn Gut is a stretchy string so it might overshoot the low tension by so much on the fast initial pull that it triggers error code 15. I have no idea what error code 15 means. Let me know what happens as I can continue to troubleshoot with you.

What I see looks confusing. It appears as though the first few pull the tensioner does not move all the way back. Then it goes back much farther like the string is slipping in the gripper. It looks like you have a poly string so I doubt the string is stretching that much. Then I see you wrap the diablo twice and I wonder why. Are you wrapping the string around twice to prevent slippage in the gripper? Just not sure what is going on. It is possible logic in the Wise is recognizing slippage and that is what error code 15 is.

Also for higher tensions you should have the speed on faster speeds and for lower tensions set to lower speed. At least that’s what I was told by Herb when I sent mine back.

I have just tried with speed 1 at 25 lbs and it was ok two pulls, then I tested with 20 lbs and got same #15 error, tested again with 25 lbs - #15 error again. Looks like machine is making initial movement, the tension screen is blank, than it beeps and goes on with a test mode until stops due to string in the gripper. May it be so that even after first move of the tensioner the tension is already above ref tension and hence machine restarts into test mode?

I do double wrapping diablo to reduce gripper marks on the string, as discussed in another thread.

At low tensions you are not going to get gripper marks on the string with one wrap around the diablo and PSG is not susceptible to marking anyway. So dispense with the double wrap and see if that doesn't cure the problem.

I agree with @Irvin observation about the gripper's behaviour. When you pull at the higher tensions the gripper hardly moves before it stops at the supposed tension set. And yet at 25 it slides right to the end. Is the string slipping in the gripper?

That certainly does not look like PSG it looks like a poly string. Also it looks like the string is no going down in the front of the gripper but only in the back and the gripper assembly is binding up in the center when it pulls back. Does Wise not have anywhere for you to return it for service in Latvia / Europe? I think you're going to have to return it for service.

Received info from Wise US customer service to send machine for reprogramming. What is the usual procedure in such cases with respect to sending costs? They would be substantial sending it from LV to DE or UK with insurance...

No, string is not slipping. Apparently machine restarts and goes into test mode while pulling. That is the reason tensioner goes all way back until it gets error due to string in the gripper during test mode. Error code 15 is “string in the gripper while testing” according to Wise US.

Customary procedure is you pay shipping and insurance both ways even under warranty, and any costs if there are any for repair unless it is under warranty.

Take your time sending the machine for repair. It is very likely that you have a problem with the power supply. This is the easiest problem. Test the machine with another. Observe the power supply parameters - Input Voltage AC 220B, Output Voltage DC 15V, Output Current 5A !!!. The output current is very important.

EU distributor for Wise is sending me replacement machine - I will exchange it for my current one with the courier. No costs involved so far :)
It is always always always best to buy from reputable distributors within your area. Then when a problem arises you go back to the distributor and let them deal with the manufacturer and leave you out of it. If I was buying another Wise I would buy it from TW before I would buy it from Wise.

I was buying from TM (Germany), but Wise distributor took part in service process

Is the double string loop on the diablo causing too much friction, and triggering the error code? pulling tension on the diablo instead of the racquet? Wise might hit 26 lbs quick

No. There is not more friction no matter how many times you go around the diablo. The tension on the string between the diablo and the gripper gets lower each time you wrap the diablo. The diablo and gripper act as one solid piece and are connected by bolts to each other both riding on a screw below the top of the housing.
