I had to check that up. No i don't know any vegetable names in Sanskrit !How'd you take your aubergine, the king of vegetables to whom the fruit is affectionately termed ''brown jolly'' in the Indies, of that I'm sure @Sentinel would vehemently call it ''the brinjal'' [I wonder what is it called in the mother of all tongues, Sanskrit?]?
Seems it was called "Vrin taa kum"
Whatever.
In Hindi, we call it baingan or baigan. A friend's wife once told me that baigan means "bay-goon" which means without any benefits. So she suggested that eggplant has no nutritive value.
I had one left over piece of the small eggplant with my breakfast. My maid had made cutlets with red pumpkin which is kinda sweet. I had two of those and they were good.
