How'd you take your aubergine, the king of vegetables to whom the fruit is affectionately termed ''brown jolly'' in the Indies, of that I'm sure @Sentinel would vehemently call it ''the brinjal'' [I wonder what is it called in the mother of all tongues, Sanskrit?]?

Aubergine-sliced-006.jpg
I had to check that up. No i don't know any vegetable names in Sanskrit !
Seems it was called "Vrin taa kum"
Whatever.
In Hindi, we call it baingan or baigan. A friend's wife once told me that baigan means "bay-goon" which means without any benefits. So she suggested that eggplant has no nutritive value.

I had one left over piece of the small eggplant with my breakfast. My maid had made cutlets with red pumpkin which is kinda sweet. I had two of those and they were good.

Touching the net in an RG SF by Joe Kovic led to the infamous finger pointing reaction by The Nadal to make sure the chair umpire saw the infraction and awarded the point to him in his comeback from 3-4 down on the Serbian’s serve.

Breezy Point is located at the extreme southwestern tip of geographic Long Island, although it is politically part of the city of New York. Clear days allow a vista looking further south and west past the mouth of the greater NYC harbor to the shores of Sandy Hook NJ north of the very popular northern Jersey beach communities like Asbury Park and Point Pleasant.

I used to refer to "Greetings From Asbury Park" as "Greetings From Ashbury Park" before being corrected.

Asbury Park 4th of July is one of The Bawss’ most popular early tunes and one he sang when I first saw him as a warmup act for the band Chicago in 1973. Most refer to the song as Sandy, as it is written as a plea for love from a girl named Sandy.

On July 4, 1981 John McEnroe became Yankee Doodle Dandy in mostly white with blue trim and a bright red bandana as he ended Björn Borg’s 41-match win streak on the green grass of SW19’s cathedral of tennis for the AELTC title in men’s singles.

In an oddity due to the shift to Sunday playing of the Wimby men’s final the very next year, July 4, 1982, was the date for an all-lefty Yank final that J.S. Connors won over J.P. McEnroe in five sets.

I've been dreaming of eating a slice of pumpkin pie for over 30 years. I believe the only time i have tasted one was in 1984 and it was one of those cheap store bought ones.
One day I shall make one with our red pumpkins. @Dedans Penthouse used to have a nice joke about pumpkin, but i wont spoil it for you.

I did start the Borg McEnroe movie on Netflix the other day. It had too much of foul language spouting out of Mac the Mouth's mouth, so i switched it off. Strange that I used to be a Mac fan back then just for his potty mouth.

Mack the Knife interests me more. The song was made popular by the great rendition of it by Bobby Darin and became quite popular with bar crowds on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in the 70’s. It was written by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill for “The Threepenny Opera” all the way back in the Roaring 20’s.

The fifth Beatle Stuart Sutcliffe helped change hairstyles for a decade and more when he copied the mop top look of his German friend Klaus Voorman. Photographer Astrid Kirchherr became his girlfriend and she was responsible for introducing the stimulant Preludin to help them get through their long nights playing at Der Kaiserkeller in Hamburg’s wild Reeperbahn District.

Revealed: Dentist who introduced Beatles to LSD

Few of those many momentous nights enjoyed by the Beatles at the height of their fame were to have more profound consequences than one spent at an unprepossessing two-bedroom flat near London's Bayswater Place in April 1965.

It had been an inconsequential evening of socialising shared by George Harrison, John Lennon, their wives Cynthia Lennon and Patti Boyd and George's dentist, who had just drifted over their social horizon. Then the five, accompanied by the dentist's wife, adjourned from the small dining room to the lounge, where the dentist slipped LSD - a substance then as little known to the Beatles as to most in Britain - into their coffees.

The details of George and John's introduction to the sense-enhancing drug have, until now, remained one of the most enigmatic aspects of the band's history, despite 1,000 books on the subject, as has the name of the man described only as the "wicked dentist" by George in the one interview which relates a sense of the event for the Beatles Anthology. In a new book the music writer, Steve Turner, reveals the dentist to be John Riley, the son of a Metropolitan Police officer who, after training as a cosmetic dentist in Chicago, became a dentist to the stars.

The experience spawned the surreal lyrics of Help!, which went to number one in September 1965 with declarations such as "Now I find I've changed my mind, opened up the doors" (after Aldous Huxley's LSD-inspired Doors of Perception and "My independence seems to vanish in the haze." From the Revolver album to the acid-induced "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" (LSD?) track on the Sgt Pepper album and later rows with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who disapproved of the substance, the experience shaped the band's destiny.

A little Help?
* 'HELP!' (1965)
Some see the song as the first LSD-induced Beatles single. Also an expression of the stress John Lennon felt at the band's rapid rise to fame
When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
But now these days are gone and I'm not so self assure[LSD brings an altered state; self-confidence goes]
Now I find I've changed my mind, Opened up the doors
[LSD changes the mind, as in Aldous Huxley's The Doors of Perception]
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
[floating, in an LSD-induced haze]
Won't you please, please help me
[helplessness, loss of control]
With grateful acknowledgment to Michael S Hoffman.

Takes me weigh back to childhood. We did have an album/s of Lotte Lenya. My dad's collection.

I find it a bit difficult somehow to be taken back so many decades. I wonder how you guys manage it. I don't know the feeling. Maybe nostalgic, slightly sad. Something you have lost and can never get back.
My days are filled with thoughts of yesterdays. Just about every conversation with customers gets to some era I’ve lived through, especially the summertime when I meet so many Brits and I share stories with them about my summer/fall of ‘72 in London and around the U.K.

No matter where I roam
I will return to my English rose
For no bonds can ever tempt me from she
I've sailed the seven seas
Flown the whole blue sky
But I've returned with haste
To where my love does lie
No matter where I go
I will come back to my English rose...

Iceland has a small founding population, with many female involuntary contributors to the gene pool coming from Ireland, England, and Scotland many centuries ago courtesy of the Vikings. Nevertheless, they have been getting it on with each other ever since, making them an interesting population for genetic studies.

Bonds' bondage escapades with hot enemy spies, and attention-getting chases, explosions, and general mayhem wherever he goes would get a real MI6 officer, or any other real spy fired. If only actual spies had so much fun!

Much fun can be and has been derived from marathon rebroadcasts of Bond films. TNT Network had a tradition of providing their airings over the holidays but I haven’t seen them do that for years now.

Last holidays I remember holing up and watching “Dexter” marathons with a complete season aired on Showtime every day. I told our good friend @vive le beau jeu ! about my experience and got him intrigued enough to stream the series and he recently reported he watched the finale after getting through the entire series.

Laetitia has appeared in several films. A Russian friend once gave me many quality DVDs of questionable copyright background, which included some of Casta's films. Her acting is really quite bad, but she does a nice job in the nude scenes.

Three celebrity women (model Casta, actress Milot and alt rock singer Sadier), all French, share the name Laetitia, which is derived from the Latin “laetus” or happy. I am hoping Mademoiselle Casta et al are having “laetitious” holidays with their families (Casta has three children now) and friends.

A croque madame is a croque monsieur with a poached egg on top. It is called this because the egg was said to resemble a woman's hat.

and if you don't want the fried egg (hat) on top and order a croque monsieur, you won't get this either.
