Show me the money! I'll go with the money everytime. The title is good but money is my thing.

Usually a slam champ gets more endorsments than a player with no slam regardless how high the other is ranked. Though Caroline is far more attractive endorsement...so that makes Kivitova out of question.

Though in the future...if Wozzy doesn't win a slam....and Kvitova continues winning slams....than obviously Kvitova will be very marketable.

Li Na earned millions after her French Open win.....! A slam title comes with presitge and endorsements.....even if Wozzy has 6.5 mil ahead of Kvitova. The endoresments figures aren't known.....

Kvitova= Marketable Slam Champion
Wozniacki= Marketable Beauty

The more beautiful players normally attract endorsements. It doesn't matter much when a player win a lot of slams if she's unattractive. See Maria, her accomplishments is much less than Serena but she has more endorsements/more wealthier, something Serena can only dream of.

17 members (as of this moment) actually picked Wozniacki. For what? Up to this point in her career, she's failed (miserably) to win the ultimate prize in the sport. There's no question about Kvitova having the more accomplished career with her Wimbledon victory.

But Woznaicki is cute, blonde, appealing...and it is not her fault if she takes the money...

come on, be honest, how many of you wouldn´t ride her?

Honestly, I find her a bit too chubby.

I don't think she was this chubby a couple of years ago.

The one I find really cute and attractive is the doubles partner of Vania King.

Shvedova or something.

She's got a great smile.

I think it has clearly swung in Kvitova's favour.

Petra has just helped the Czech Republic win the Federation cup for the first time since 1988 defeating the Russians in Moscow.

So in 2011 Petra has won Wimbledon (biggest tennis tournament), year end championships (biggest tournament outside of the majors) and the Federation cup. That's three titles Caroline hasn't won and is unlikely to win. Also, Petra is the talk of the tennis world, the question being how many slams can she win and will she go on to dominate. No one asks these questions of Wozniacki.

In the end, counterpunchers usually make a fast start in their careers and get overatken by the more talented power player. Courier achieved more initially then was overtaken by Sampras (obviously Courier was not a counterpuncher but he wasn't a power player like Sampras and had to adopt that role when he played Sampras). Hewitt achieved more initially and then was overtaken by Federer. Hingis achieved more initially then was overtaken by Venus and Serena. The same thing will happen to Wozniacki against Kvitova.

Its no contest in my mind!

Petra is only 115 points behind. If Fed Cup awared points like the men she would be number 1 too.
It would take a spectacular capitulation from Petra for her NOT to get to number 1 next year.

Lets compare their major achievements now:

Slam titles: Kvitova 2011 Wimbledon Champion, Wozniacki....
Other Major titles: Kvitova 2011 WTA Championship Winner, 2011 Fed Cup Champion, Wozniacki.....
Year End #1s: Kvitova 2011 WTA Year End #1, 2011 ITF Year End #1, Wozniacki 2010 ITF Year End. Kvitova now leading 2 to 1 and 1 year to 0.5 years even here. (computer WTA rankings are such a joke they are disregarded and replaced by the WTA and ITF Player of Year Awards as the real #1 rankings for each year).

What a contest, LOL!

Ask yourself this question. What would you rather have, a number one ranking or Wimbledon? Almost all tennis players would definitely take the latter one.

Petra has erased Wozniacki since a very long time already... her hard core fans talks about Caroline's #1 for 2 consecutive years bla bla anyways it'll only take a few weeks from now before Petra takes her good and definitively erases Wozniacki THAT time forever.

Petra just broke through and already has a major. She is a much more talented and dangerous player. Woz wil fall quick, anyone in the top 50 can beat her on a good day.

Petra. She actually hits winners, whereas Woz only returns like a rubber wand. Also Wimby and the WC title speak for her, and I cannot see how Woz will ever win a major without the 'killing shots'.

You forgot to mention the Federation cup as well.

10 people voted that the accomplishments are equal. Kvitova is just getting started, there are going to be a hell of a lot more accomplishments over the next few years as long as she stays fit and healthy most of the time.

With so many of the top players 30 and over, who will be Kvitova's competition the next five years?

^^^ in fairness the poll was started a while ago.

That's what I thought at first and then decided to check before making this comment. The thread was started on October 30th 2011. By that stage the season was over and Kvitova won the WTA title and was on the way to helping Czech win the Fed cup.

Venus Williams has been number one for only about 30 weeks in her entire career? Boris Becker was number 1 for just a few weeks in 1991? Both players are seen as legends. Every one remembers slam winners, Wozniacki needs to win major titles if she wants to be remembered. Mauresmo and Clijsters were able to do that, Safina, and Jankovic haven't been able to and look at their credibility right now.

hmmm, I believe this thread started as an offshoot of some debate over on the 'whats wrong with her thread' in the results forum.

there is no doubt at the moment now however, kvitova is way ahead.
