Wozniacki: I did. I just wanted to see how she's doing. She's a good friend of mine and of course when I heard the news I was a bit afraid so I wanted to stop by and see how she was doing. And I'm in Los Angeles.

BR: And she is doing well?

Wozniacki: She's doing well. She's keeping her head high and of course she's strong, not only on the court but off as well. She has a strong personality and she'll be fine.

A very nice gesture that may also be indicative of a pattern set in recent years by Federer for the #1 ranked player. Blake once described how Fed was the only player to get to the hospital after Blake famously hit his head while practicing. Federer seemed to relish that "Ambassador of Tennis" role as #1 and Woz may be following suit.

Wozniacki and another big girl would have to be stuck together to equal Serena... ;) But that's a classy move by Caroline. Good to see someone on tour considers Serena a friend; you don't always get the impression that the Williams sisters do much fraternization. Perhaps that's just how it appears from the outside.

Maybe she is kissing up to Serena. She was in Murray's box at the AO and visited Novak family in NJ during USO. She tweets and reports about it. She likes to be seen around stars.

I'd say she's number one in the world, and that makes her a "star" as well. Just because she isn't well-known in the US doesn't mean she needs to hang around Serena Williams and Andy Murray to get attention.

Nah, I really do think they're actually friends. I saw some kind of cutesy tweet exchanges between the both of them a long while back; I even think Vika Azarenka was involved.

It seems like Serena does the fraternizing, but Venus doesn't

Serena seems to get along with Clijsters, Kuznetsova, Wozniacki, Azarenka, maybe even Li Na. Who does Venus get along with? I can't recall her once lingering after a handshake to make a joke or say even a more extended 'congratulations.' I've seen Serena do it quite a few times.

How can you say that? You have no idea what the other players are like or what they do that doesn't get into the press. Wozniaki obviously told the media that she had visited her. Others would likely keep this private.

I think she is one of the fittest WTA players around...her counterpunching works that way. Rather hope she keeps the weighr on...she looks better that way. IF she lossed weight her attractiveness would decrease and could affect he sponsors.

She just needs a bit more power!

Did Mother Marjorie read correctly? Are you saying that "Big girls are IN?" Hmmmmm.... Tennis and celebrity are not the career paths that embrace portly peeps. Now, that is just an historic observation, not a judgement.

Caroline looks like she has a mouthfull of marbles, sort of like a large Chipmunk. Mother Marjorie feels that Caroline can't be that big and expect to play defensively and win a grand slam singles event. Caroline doesn't move that well on-court. She anticipates well, but has Maria Sharapova-like movement on clay.

It might still be a man's world, but that will never stop Mother Marjorie from giving her honest opinion, oh, no it won't.

The only thing Mother Marjorie is disturbed about is missing her hair appointment earlier today. She has a dinner date tonight and Mother Marjorie doesn't do bad hair, oh no she doesn't. On-call hair stylist it shall be.

wozniacki is very well trained. Of course she is not the petite type of women. She does have broad shoulders and strong legs and arms. she is not the natural super lean and thin type.that's just genetics and not lack of training (just like federer who doesn't have a six pack).

But she is not having too much weight and certainly she is not fat at all! she is one of the fittest players on the tour.

I also think she is attractive (don't like super tiny women), but that's a personal preference.

So far you are right, but she has been gradually improving her game, hitting with a little more power and being a little more aggressive. She seems to be going in the right direction (vs.being a celebrity and letting her game fall) and if she continues, I believe she will win some slam tournaments.

Oh, come on!! She has gained weight but she is not even remotely overweight by any reasonable standard. Even that picture you posted she looks good. She is not a model. She's an athlete and she should be judged by that standard. Yes, she has a few extra pounds over the Henins and Schiavonnes of the world but that doesn't seem to be hindering her movement in any way.

I will agree with you that she is definitely starved for attention though. Her behavior at the Oz Open was desperate and pathetic.

Mr. Spin Doctor, Mother Marjorie doesn't know if you watched Sweet Caroline play in Australia, but her foot speed and movement were suspect. She anticipates well, but doesn't move well.

Its no surprise to Mother Marjorie that Sweet Caroline looks up to, and admires Serena. Serena has placed forward a rather successful business model for big girls on tour. When Serena sold Boyfriend Sweaters on QVC, it made anything possible for players like Sweet Caroline. Yes, it did.

I think this is only partially right. true wozniacki isn't really fast, but she does move very well. If she gets to the ball she is rarely in a bad position. also she anticipates very well as you said.

also serena was not the fist "big girl" on the tour. davenport was also a big girl (she was also quite fat unlike a fit serena who is just jacked up).

Forgot about Big Babe tennis with Mary Pierce. Davenport got in great shape but Serena will always be judged against herself in 2002. Six pack? Catsuit?
