yeah, but rdis is rock solid and has feel. babolat feels hollow and has no feel
Completely agree. Granted, my main stick is the Pure Drive Team (2005?) which doesn't have the hollow feel of the new versions, but the RDIS 100 is definitely SOLID. I'm currently back with the mp version, and tinkering with the set-up to make it swing a bit faster through the air. Also have to build up the butt cap a bit...
^Pretty interesting. The stiffness rating of 68 is indeed stiff, but I'm still surprised that some have found it so stiff considering that many people play with the Babolat Pure Drive and Aero Drive, which are both stiffer on paper.
That's because when properly marketed by the right stars, it'll sell regardless of RA rating.
I played the RDiS100 Mid and Midplus and they were very un-Yonex like. The 93 version, which I recently sold, felt like a lighter version of the RDS001 90, which I recently sold. I still roll out the MP-1 Tour 90's and SRD Tour 95's every once in a while and those RA was 64 and 62, respectively, they didn't play stiff. Beneficial, however, was that while playing the MP-1 Tour 90 at the time of its heyday there wasn't a real prevalence of poly strings that can cause arm issues when not strung properly. I have tried poly strings on them now but, in my opinion, arm problems for me develop not because of stiffness but due to an added 15 years from when I last used those sticks. Age does have its drawbacks.

I've tried all of the racquets you mentioned, and used to have a SRD Tour 95. My main racquet was the Yonex RD-7, which is super flexible, so it's interesting that I've switched to a much stiffer frame. We've been together for almost five years, too! Before this I played with the Yonex MP-Tour 5. I'd actually like to get my hands on a new RD-7. Thanks for your post!
Do many pros still use the original Pure Drive? Thanks!
If you can find an unused RD7 or a pristine condition one, I would be surprised.
I still have my RD7 as well. I strung it up with a poly, I forget which, and it did play pretty well. I was able to get some SRD Tour 95 grommets from Yonex as they are impossible to replace. Maybe I should sell these sticks. People seem to have a love affair with them.
I'm sure of it. Babolat simply paints on the graphics of the cortex system (i.e. Roddick, Li Na, Nadal with the Aeropro).
In other news, I added some lead to my RDIS 100 mp at 10 and 2 and put on a leather grip like one poster suggested. Plays so solid but might have a bit too much heft for me. Back to the drawing board!
Mine have 5 grams at 12 o'clock and a 1.3mm TW leather grip plus a Wilson over grip. That comes to about 362 grams and 31.8cm balance. Pretty perfect in my book. If only that throat were a tad less stiff!

Yeah, it's the throat man. I'm playing NRG 16 in it now and it helps.
The best set up I found with this racquet was with Yonex poly strung at 44/41.
Someone must be using one still...I remember they racquets were well-received on the Boards
