Your Gravity Pro string setup...

I have tried a bunch - my two current favorites are:

Ashaway Kevlar 16 @ 44# (mains), Kirschbaum Max Power 1.20 @ 44# (crosses)
ALU Power 125 @ 56# (mains), NRG2 1.24 @ 56 # (crosses)

I am now trying 4G/Sensation, I like it initially. Also, trying sensation/tourna BH 7 silver tour today with sensation in the mains - doubt that lasts long. Also have tried various full/hybrids of Revolve, Revolve Twist, Hexonic, Super Smash, Tourna Duece were nice but I'm still messing around. It's been fun as each adds a different characteristic.

Prior to the Pro, I was using Pure Drives with NRG2 (mains) and ALU Power (crosses) @ 49 almost exclusively. I didn't like that setup in the gravity however.

So you mostly go with hybrids looks like. Did you ever do a full bed of poly?

Mostly hybrids- some all poly but I'm usually putting a thinner gauge in the crosses. I used a full of Hexonic, Revolve, Duece. Hexonic had a higher launch angle and was a little less comfortable. The Duece was very comfortable but a little too springy, I'd go higher tension if I tried it again.

I tried hyper g 16l at 54, it went very well... I think i'll try 4g before I commit to another reel.
Interesting. That is a low powered string right? I tried a low powered poly at 54lb as well but my balls landed short a lot. Trying 48lb now.

Personally I wouldn’t describe Hyper G as very low powered. I do find it control oriented and a bit muted when fresh. But I can still hammer the ball when necessary, without any extra effort.

Now, 4G? IMO that stuff is definitely low powered.

It's not super low powered. It's control oriented, but has a lot of spin access IMO

I use Gut/poly hybrid. Arm issues.
Vs/element at 55/52lbs. I’ve also reversed the combo and really like it too but it was a little to low powered with the gut in the crosses.

I strung Power Cord @48lbs and tried it out yesterday. Better depth and spin. Def more comfortable too.

this is also what I did
I like the power based polys on this racquet
while it is a bit open for a 18/20 (100" racquet), it still needs help with the low tension
Interesting. I have never used Lynx Edge before. I have used Cyclone, Gamma Moto and Rip Control. Are you able to compare to any of those if you have used any of em?

sorry no, I haven't used the strings you mentioned
I have strung them on peoples racquets though

not head.lynx.EDGE, but head.lynx ive used!!; head lynx is a soft power based poly like head.sonic.pro, but its better in tension maintenance,
infact I look at it this way; if h.sonic.pro was generation1 poly, h.lynx would be the newer generation of the two strings,, soo with h.lynx.EDGE, you can expect just a bit more spin

Yeah I play tested one of these and I strung it up with Hawk Rough / VS Touch. 54/52 was really solid. I did also add like 10g of lead.

I have the tour and have been happy with Tourna black zone 17 mains and Gosen OG sheep 17 cross at 54/54lbs. The Gosen syn gut seems very durable in the sense that I haven't noticed any notching after 12 to 15 hours of play where a Multi cross would be on the verge of breaking.

I have added about 17 grams to the handle (leather grip, overgrip and polyfil) and about 1.5 grams at 12 and 1.5grams at 10,2. Racquet feels really solid on grounstrokes but feels a bit slower on the serves. Hoping to get used to the weight for serves since I love this setup on groundstrokes. Any suggestions on what I can change in my setup to help with my serves keeping the feel on groundies similar to what I have right now?

So you added 12 grams in the hoop and none in the handle? How do you like the setup? Wouldn't that make the racquet very head heavy? and increase an already high swingweight?
Well it was a demo from my HEAD Rep, I didn’t have many options so just put it to my weight, at the time I didn’t have the option to measure balance or anything so it was sort of a “throw it on and hit with it” deal.
But now I have the options to measure other specs I’d like to try it again

I am thinking of doing Cyclone 18g at 52lbs on mains and Power Fibre II 17g at 56lbs on crosses on my Gravity Pro. Thoughts?

Just got my Gravity Pro, first string job I opted for T1 Black Knight 1.23 at 45/43lbs. Have to start somewhere, didn’t feel bad at all. [emoji106]

I absolutely love the ALU and NGR2 setup.

Strung mine up with HyperG and it didn't feel as good as the factory string.
Ended up purchasing the factory string (lynx I think it was) and that didn't feel as good as the original either.
Strung it up once more with Lynx at a lower tension and it felt great.

I'm not writing off any string with this racket now, until I get the tension just right.
For me, that involved a lower tension than I'm used to playing with.
I'm down to around 44lb with the Gravity Pro, vs 49 for my TT100P 18x20.

Haven’t experimented much yet, but Velocity at 54lbs seems to be a decent, but basic starting point for those looking for a comfy setup

hope to experiment more in the new year

Played with Gamma Moto 1.29 black, Ice Code 1.30 and hyper G 1.20. I didn’t like Hyper (unpredictable) but loved Ice and Moto.
Next I’ll use Alu Power Purple Mains and Lynx lime 1.25 Crosses, just because I have them lying around.
I‘m stringing at 23 kilos because the racquet is too powerful for me otherwise. My swingweight is 360. Static weight is 345.

Nice. I actually got Ice Code with me but 1.20mm. What did you do to get your swingweight to 360?

I had some of the Hyper in 1.20 because I played with the Prince 93p.

To get the SW I simply used lead tape.

I've put in a full bed of the new Luxilon Smart at 50lbs. Need to tweak slightly as I'd also added lead to 3 & 9 but I'm now thinking a bit too much.

Yeah, my SW is not for everyone. I’m in my thirties now but used to be in the top 60 juniors in Germany. Some of the guys I’m playing with used to play Bundesliga here. So we are not exactly rec players and my set up might not be for everyone.

From the time as a youth player, I don’t know if my parents have any videos. But it must be on VHS...

I actually never taped myself playing tennis. I have never seen myself play. Maybe I should do that some time soon, when we can play tennis here again.

Has anybody found a good THIN string (hybrids too) setup for the GPro that maintains control and doesn't snap after a couple of hours? I could really use suggestions. The lighter the better as I'm trying to reduce swingweight (which is way high thanks to Head's lousy QC) in an attempt to keep my racquet which I really like otherwise. Thanks in advance!

Gosen 17g OGSM @ 57lbs. Used this in my red prestige tours for the last 25yrs before switching to Gravity Pro's and I very much like the low-power/solid feel in the 18x20 flexible frames.

Trying for more arm-friendly I have also experimented with full beds of 17 gauge NRG2 @ 57 and Head MLT Reflex @ 57. Both felt great initially (Reflex was amazing to serve with, NRG2 better off the ground), but both were too powerfull after the initial tension drop for my game (2hrs court time).

This weekend I will try OGSM mains and NRG2 crosses and the reverse. Trying to get similar low-power feel of the OGSM with perhaps a touch more pop and a little softer on the arm. Hopefully the hybrid can do that!

Love to hear from anyone who has tried or is experimenting with similar setups!

I have stumbled upon my holy grail setup after testing many different strings and tension. I might have a slight bias towards yonex ptp (have always played well with this string in many rackets).

Full poly is something I like to use for rally balls and drills. And multi/synthetic for that extra oomph on put away balls.

So it comes as no surprise that I am playing great tennis with:
Yonex ptp mains / head rip control crosses. Both at 50lbs.

As a background, I have tried other hybrids and full poly setups with: Max Power rough, pro evolution X, ice code, hyper G. And multi crosses prince premier touch, head rip control, gutex ultra, ultra power SF. Tension ranges from 46-56lbs

Notable mentions for good setups along the way have been:
Ice code full bed at 48/46lbs
PTP full bed at 50lbs
Max power rough mains 50lbs, premier touch crosses at 52lbs.

Really fun setup of Rip control mains and premier touch crosses. Really powerful, bit too powerful to be reliable in a match. Fun for social doubles.

I am currently playing with Mayami Big Spin strung at 48lbs. I added a leather grip and overgrip on mine. I really like the ball pocketing feeling and the spin from this string. Control could be a big better but tension maintenance and durability are good.

Found something very unexpected from these two hybrid experiments:

NRG2 main / OGSM cross both at 57lbs: felt much more like the crosses/OGSM. I expected the "feel" to come from the mains, but got the opposite.

OGSM main / NRG2 cross both at 57lbs: felt much more like crossed/NRG2. Again I expected this setup to "feel" more like the OGSM but the opposite was again the case.

Possible explanation: mains and crosses both at 57lbs = the cross strings are relatively tighter (because of the shorter span). Therefore the "relatively tighter" of the two strings will dominate what I feel.

Thoughts - is that why I could primarily "feel" the cross string?
If I lowered the cross string tension by 3lbs do you think I would then be "feeling" the main string?

Thanks
Matty
