Both are playing like crap. Paire not letting Fed tank the match leaving no choice for Fed expect to take the set.

fun day tomorrow for Nadal. he probably even let's Xica or whatever her name is to give him a little BJ while he watches this circus.

Fed's playing matter of factly. Almost distracted. At least he won the set.

Expecting bakery products in the second, if Fed wakes up.

Both of them being error-prone, gives me the reason to post this

Baaaaaaaad quality match so far, both far more errors than winners. Despite about the same game style as the Fed/JJ match, this is the reverse of it in terms of tennis quality.

That was a HUGE let off for Federer. Poor service from Paire in the TB at the wrong time and for once, Fed took his chance at the first time of asking and gets a set he could easily of lost. That will hurt Paire, can he recover from that?

I can't see the match but I can see the score. Definitely looks up and down, but that's not news considering that's how Paire plays.

I think it's pretty fair to comment that Fed has had quite a contribution in making UEs as well... as I said, bad quality match so far.
Fed was lucky to chicken out that TB.

pretty much my thoughts. fed doesn't want to play rafa on clay anymore. the h2h is surface skewed enough as it is and rafa never returns the favour.

not that good a set of tennis ... federer a bit lucky due to paire's inexperience showing...

Speaking of errors, I managed to split the mayonnaise I was prepping for a test four times during or alloted prep day. With no time left to rescue it that day, I had to make it during the test the following day while stressing like crazy with my other dishes. Pulled it off, dish came together (although not the way I wanted really), and somehow passed the test.

So now I'm an educated chef...

Even when Federer is playing well these days he usually has 1 bad match in a tournament (for example Wimbledon '12 vs Benny). Let's hope he finds his form of the last days back if he does make the final.

If not, it will be painful to watch.

What's Fed wearing under his shirt? Something to support his back?

I didn't want to bring it up, but yeah, Fed is wearing that undershirt again, which he wears every time he feels some kind of back trouble.

Disclaimer: this is no 'excuse' for whatever is happening - when one enters the court, one is ready to play! ;) - but it does give some explanation on his subpar serving in this match.

Fed is going to get killed tomorrow if he keeps the UE count so high like tonight. No real rhythm at all.

IMO it's just another concentration problem.

Fed wanted to make a statement after losing to Nishikori so he played lights out against Starace.

He knows that Simon could be dangerous so he destroyed him.

He heard of the JJ hype so he knew what was coming and was sharp yesterday.

Now he thinks he can get a bit of a rest before playing Rafa because Paire could be a walkover, but instead he meets this in-form Frenchie and now he needs to up his game.

Federer isn't serving very well today. Considering just yesterday he became only the fifth man to have served 8000 ACES in professional competition.
