I am sick of this topic. I know I am partly at fault since while I don't start the discussion I give my views and evaluate pros and cons and odds in depth for no reason other than that is what I like to do in general. Lets not even discuss it until Novak gets to 15 ok please. I would rather discuss his current tennis and everyone elses current tennis, and the interesting things going on in the game NOW then the Novak 18 or more slams for the 1000th time (then again maybe the overdoing of this topic is a sad reflection of the lack of decent storylines in the game today).
I also said the same thing on different thread, this discussion is useless untill Novak wins 15 or 16.

If he wins the French the Grand Slam looks pretty good.
Yeah, but at the same time look at what happened to Serena last year. Just thinking about the pressure of a career slam...not sure if crowd will embrace the possibility or rally even stronger behind some of his opponents.

Of course. The task of winning any one major is monumental. You add the pressure of the Grand Slam and it's an incredible feat. Players like Jack Crawford and Lew Hoad won the first three majors but faltered at the end. Although Crawford may have not even known it was a Grand Slam. I'm not sure if the term was around for the four majors at that time in 1933. Crawford led two sets to one over Fred Perry (an awesome player) in the final but lost. Hoad won the first set against Ken Rosewall but lost the next three.

This is a strange thread to start in 2013 when he was struggling to maintain dominance post 2011, even if he was mostly ranked #1. I would expect threads like this at the end of 2011, or today, but not sometime in 2013.

You also said this was a troll thread in 2013.

Only about a 5% chance to win that many slams. He would need to either average 1.5 slams per year for the next 8 years, or average 2.5 slams per year for the next 4 years, then win another couple more after that at 29/30 and beyond. Not impossible, but extremely unlikely. I know this is a troll thread anyway though.

Are you saying mattosgrant and NadalAgassi are the same poster?
Precisely. He use to play a role as a Nadal fan under many accounts including NadalAgassi. He hates Federer and couldn't careless about Nole. Since Nadal has declined and doesn't seem to threaten Federer's slam record, he(under mattosgrant) ditches Nadal and jump on Nole's bandwagon.

But how do you know it's the same poster? Same style or something? It's interesting if he were to ignore your accusations.

Of course. You only need to see a handle of posts to detect the same style and the way one carries himself, let alone thousands of posts. At least 2 members that I know have agree with me and confronted him that he's NadalAgassi.

The True Goat

You guys are all wrong. The GOAT of TW posters is NOT Breakpoint. He has only 26741 posts. The real goat is davey25 aka anointedone aka thalivest. If you add up all his usernames, the total number of posts is more than 31,000 and this is a conservative estimate because not all of his IDs are accounted for at this stage.

Drakulie and Breakpoint and Suresh, eat your hearts out !! :)

Moral of the story: If you want to be GOAT, don't put all your eggs in one basket :) .

EDITS 2010 (Info gleaned over 4 fun years on TW with the help of many alert members ):

THE MANY FACES OF DAVEY25:

4. gugafanatic (inactive following retirement of Guga Kuerten, 2006 posts)

10. justineheninhoogenbandfan (currently inactive, 898 posts)
11. navratilovafan (831 posts)
12. thalivest (active, often in the same thread as davey25 and anointedone, 3406 posts)

14. GrafisGOAT (45 posts)

16. julesb (banned, 489 posts)

@Polaris is very good at detecting the same users and his list was dated back in 2010. Since then, there are many more accounts created by mattosgrant.

I thought you were not allowed to post if you were banned. If this is the case, why don't you report him?

All of the endless boredom is proportionately related to the Nadal fans in 2010-2013 endlessly claiming their guy would reach 20 slams, or at the very least 18. We all know how that turned out.

Even with this ridiculously weak era, Djoker cannot stop the hands of time or the mental and physical degeneration that happens to every player.

The GOAT only won one slam after 30. That should tell you something, but some Djoker fans believe what they want to believe and have no conception of aging or its effects on any player's stats. I think Nole will have an outstanding 2016 and win 2 more slams, probably. But after this year? The decline will be stark and unmistakable, and that's assuming no injury.

I do not think we have seen the best player of post-2004 homogeneous surface era yet.

Someone will do 6+ year end #1 and/or ~20 slams under this surface condition, IMHO.

Must it be the case that the player who does best in his 20s also does better than any other player in his 30s?

I think you know the answer to that question, really, but here's a comparative statistic:

Slams won prior to turning 29: Sampras 13-3 Agassi
Slams won after turning 29: Sampras 1-5 Agassi

OF COURSE Djokovic will eventually age. But OF COURSE he doesn't have to age at the exact rate that Federer did.

I do think it's unlikely that Djokovic will reach 18 Slams.

well, ken rosewall won 25 pro majors and slams. he won 10 of them after 30.
this was 1960s - 70s.

current top players ages are getting as old as those of 1960s -70s, right?

" Very good Dear Illustrious #1 Poster..... the people who
thank you for this will never tolerate NadalAgassi-mattsogrant's
reckless attempts to infiltrate the TW board through force of
multiple usernames but instead will mercilessly wipe out these
imperialist aggressors with a retaliatory bolt of lightning.”

This is the post i quoted and i said who would have thought that djokovic and nadal would reach 20. The mods are truly incredibly smart for deleting it.
