I have been working on a small set of photos of the "God Racquet" or "God's Racquet" made by Prince as part of a promo a few years ago (I don't really know the full story, though). This racquet comes up in conversation here once in a while, and I though people might like a closer look.

The Prince God Racquet

The video is going to be you and me playing a match using two of these. But I'm gonna practice with it in the mean time, and on the day we play I'll break them out as a surprise (kind of like two guys in a dual where one of them breaks out matched pistols or swords).

But, um, I'm hoping this won't give me an unfair advantage. :p

I know this is gonna sound really nerdy, but what are the specs of this racquet? Weight? Balance?

Also, I notice that nowhere on the racquet does it say Prince. Shame.

You should make a mold and mass produce these!

XD I'd like to see somebody hit with that, to test the theory that "smaller heads mean better control." The sweet spot must be, what, the size of a ping-pong ball... If you used OPorts?

My understanding is that a very limited number of these were produced for promotional purposes. The number I keep hearing is "1000" or "less than 1000." I don't know if that's true or not.

Sorry, man, I didn't know you were after that one, too. I didn't make the connection between "TokyopunK" and "AnonymousTokyopunK" on the site... ;)

Besides, I'm trying to use it for the betterment of mankind through education by creating a web page dedicated to it. I'm being a philanthropist here (and I can't even afford to be one, for that matter) -- thus, my motives are pure (as the driven snow)... :p

The auction one went for about $50. From what I've seen, though, you might expect to pay around $100 or a bit more for one. Since they're not a mainsteam item (even used) and were never actually marketed/sold (as far as I know), there's not much a really good frame of reference.

Hmmm...interesting take, but I think you might be missing the point. ;)

The whole concept is about the the lighter side of tennis and the humorous and fun vision behind creation of the racquet. It was conceived in good humor and seems to continue in generating that same sort of "lighter-side fun" message to people even now (based on the reaction most people seem to have when they see it), years after the initial promotional idea came and went.

I don't think anyone really takes it too seriously, but it is a very interesting collector's item and a unique curiosity. And it's fun to play around with the idea, as it always seems to generate good natured banter between people when the subject of it comes up. But a big deal? No, it's not a big deal at all.

But if someone does give you one and you don't want it, please let me know. I'll take it off your hands -- but I bet I'll be standing in line to do so... :p

Besides, this racquet's going to help me finish my tennis tribute to Georgia O'Keeffe.

Ouch. My Dad bought one years ago when the commercials first aired. It now sits in our club's pro shop, as he lent it to them to display as a conversation piece. Maybe it's time I get it back...

i recently got to hit with one. it is IMPOSSIBLE to play with. i can barely hit groundstrokes with it, and whiffed all my serves.

After losing to Rafael Nadal in the French Open fifth set marathon 6-7 6-7 7-6 7-6 99-97, and Roger Federer also in the fifth set battle with the score 6-7, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, 77-75, God went back up Heaven with a very very furious mood.. How dare his servant Federer, Rafael defeat the master. He was going to send some punishment down to the players but GOD said NO.. I am going to beat them by their games.. He calls up all the Saints and advisors to come up with the strategy.. And yes.. there are some TW poster were call.. They are all agree that b/c of the racquet that GOD lost.. but NONE can design a new racquet for GOD.. so he call up of the BIG 5 racquet makers to come up the design.. surely one of the advisor is "suresh" quickly pointed out was the Head Size.. so the head size is increase 20% bigger.. Drakulie came onboard to double the density of the string pattern so GOD will get more control.... The beam is also thinner to about 15" so it will cut thru the air much faster.. Here is the results of The BIG 5 design.

I was actually going to be in the next commercial as they had a bunch of pros trying out for the commercial. I was the only one in their test group that could rally with the frame.
Unfortunately the commercial got pulled.

I have a mini Textreme Tour 100T, and Prince sells a HUGE Textreme Tour 95 and Textreme Tour 100T (I was actually going to get one for a decoration, but decided to just get another TT100T that I could play with :)
