Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm hear to announce my new GOAT IPA. It was discovered here in Colorado when the wife ordered one for me. Even she says it is her GOAT:

Currently drinking Ommegang 2015 Belgian Independence Day Ale, a hopped up tripel. Pretty decent, the hops dry out the beer somewhat.

I had the 60 minute IPA a few times, but I had the pleasure of trying the 90 minute IPA at a wine bar recently. For some reason, I started getting the giggles at the start of my 2nd beer. It was at that point when I looked at the alcohol content of 9%! Delicious beer, but be careful...
An excellent beer.

Also Surly Furious.

Im hanging loose now with a Kona Koko Brown. Its HI liquid aloha :)
The Kona beers, especially the seasonals are really good especially for the price considering not really a micro brew. Im always enjoying the Kona Koko and Pipeline Porter offerings.

Have you tried

?
Yes. I've been to their brewery in Brno Czech Republic and had a meal there.

It was pretty good: a typical Czech malty beer.

Brno is a lovely small city in Czech. One of its best attributes is that tourists have not discovered it yet. It is off the beaten path, unlike Prague!!

hoodjem,

I got your PM and I don't remember the answer to your question. Unfortunately, I've had a few gout attacks the last few years and after giving up beer awhile ago (it sucks), so far so good on keeping the attacks at bay. I do still indulge in an IPA every few months and it is pure heaven when I do.

Sweetwater has a nice flavor somewhat grapefruity. Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA also good and priced nice too. .

I tried a Sweetwater about a month ago. Loved it. One of my favorites now. I told a couple taste bud challenged friends it had a "grapefruity" flavor, they said I was crazy.

High marks to Sweetwater for drinkabilty, and the alcohol content (5.5%?) is higher than expected...which is good.

A local brew pub recently acquired a few kegs of New Holland Dragon's Milk, which is sublime. It's not distributed in California but is in Nevada, so my wife and I stocked up on 4-packs while in Incline Village (Lake Tahoe area) this weekend. Was also able to grab some Left Hand Milk Stout (also fantastic and also not distributed in Cali).

It's not available outside of NorCal but look up Moonraker Brewing in Auburn, Ca. Simply delicious New England Style IPA varieties. First beer I've had in the last couple of years that just knocked my socks off. They were recently named 9th best brewery in the world in their first year of operation.

This place brews about a mile from where I live, good idea although a few of their brews arent necessarily my taste.

Dingo Dog Brewing Company is a nano brewery operating on PlowGirl Farm, outside of Carrboro, NC. Founded as a non-profit brewing concern, Dingo Dog produces beverages using produce grown onsite in a "zero waste" production facility, and will use profits to fund grants to no-kill animal rescue organizations in North Carolina.

Drinking Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA rite now. Not the most exotic of choices, I imagine, but a modern classic nonetheless. Has that almost soapy quality you get with highly hopped beers. Lot of tropical citrusy goodness.

9% alcohol is very potent! Wine is 12% but if is only around 4-6 ozs a glass. If you have the 16 oz beer, you can do the math which drink has more overall alcohol in it.

Just tried a Sonoma cider, organic and Absinthe style whatver that means. not great, slight aniseed taste probably although if I blind tasted it I doubt if I would have known.

Any Australians? We don't have much to choose from but little creatures came out with a hoppy red ale. Only seasonal. Good drop.

MIA Neon is the ultimate jam. Most bars here are tapped out of it in one night. Big unfiltered IPA movement going around the US, and I am enjoying it.

Most of the market share is with macro brews but it is growing fast craft brews - there are some gems but it has a long way to catch up to USA and Canada.
"Micro" brews produce craft beers, ie smaller popup breweries making some unique beers that are usually much higher in ABV.

Bumping old thread...

Came into possession of some Heady Topper, Focal Banger and Crusher... Anyone have some Pliny the Elder to do a trade?
