Been out of the TTW loop for bit because I don’t want to feed my “racquetholism” just yet cause I just stocked up on IG Prestige Mids a few months ago. :)

Yes! Spot on. That is a piece of overgrip! Head butt caps do not have the most noticeable “flare,” so I use a tacky over grip OR 1/4 of an inch of athletic tape to flare my rackets’ butt caps. I’ve used both and I prefer the former because of habit, but both work fine.

I cut right in the middle (through the entire length of the OG) then tightly wrap it around the butt cap covering the edges so it wouldn’t dig through my palm when I hit. I do three wrap arounds then a 1/2 overlap before doing another three wrap arounds and repeat the process until I finish the entire length of the OG for a more tapered feel.

Try out different lengths when you flare your butt cap because it will slightly alter how you hold your racket and how you will hit.

Cheers!

I just thought: they're even more than last Mohicans, they're last Redskins*; next generations are black :)

(*) I'm not native english speaker so I'm not sure if this is offensive term or not. Anyway no offense intended.

Racial jokes like that are frowned upon in United States....and it doesn't even make sense, few actual Indians played football.

Sorry, I can't see it as racial joke.
My point was: IG Prestiges are the last painted red (G and XT Prest. are painted black) so IG mids could be called not only last Mohicans but last Indians (Redskins) as well.

few vikings, panthers, Bucs, Raiders or w/e played football either...

The whole idea behind naming sports team in the US as such (tough names) was the idea that your team was tough, fearful, uninviting and powerful in order to pump yourself, the fans, and the game. People need to be sold entertainment. That was part of it. Predator type animals make sense, then some others tried using local history and trivia, etc

Many indigenous tribes were feared, proud, brave and tough. Im hoping those were the reasons they were initially conceived as their nicknames for their sports team.

Wouldnt you rather be a fan of "Wolverines" rather than the "Rabbits"?

It is just bad that one term became a stereotype or maybe even a racial slur.

yay!

wow, that seems like a lot of wraps for what they look like!

I see your tapered more on the left most racquet (nice racquets by the way!)

Do you use the grip just like that or put an overgrip on top of all that as you would normally?

I have done gauze overgrip (Tourna Grip Tape) and fold it lengthwise in pieces and go over the thicker edge of the plain butt cap, like 1/8 inch from the edge. then Wrap the leather grip as you normally would and the you have that little extra mound when you start. Not sure if the gauze stays in place if the leather is removed, but I may have to try that since I think I put too many layers under it and it may be a bit too pronounced. Havent hit with it yet to really say. I then I wrap the leather with Tourna or Wilson Pro depending on the day

Awesome! I’ll take my OG Prestige Pro out today!

The most amazing thing is that even in this original historic form (it had salt in the grommet holes) the racket is absolutely playable and heavenly comfortable. Should only change the grommets and the strings.

What’s wrong with the grommets?

Salt? Are you in a seaside town? Beautiful score man. That is the racquet I always hope to find at the thrift store.

Obviously, the racket was there for very long time. Sooner or later you will find one. Just keep monitoring the online market.

I got my hands on a Youtek IG Prestige S and I don't if it's the Prestige-ness or that I'm finally using the grip size and shape that fits me better (L4 4 1/2) but it's amazing

Are there some variances in the thickness of the Prestige frames? It looks like both the TXP Pro and the IGPM have the same thickness, whereas the Prestige Classic 600 (*Designed in Austria) looks thinner by a millimeter or two. Maybe there are some variances between the US and Austria designed frames. They all feel, including the IG version, incredible.

Same beam.

looks more like a Mid Plus

I find 90sq-in racquets arent as small as one would initially think. Its like there is a tendency to think of them as 85 or smaller

In the other hand, Cilic's size makes his MP look smaller than what it is, at least to me (and my wishful thinking that he does play with a mid) lol
