Age nearly 32 seems to be injured again,It seems he will skip AO again and a long break again. Rafa had terrible 2015 and 2016 but at least he wasnt ınjured.Yes he did have great comebacks before but how long can he continue to that ??? The last time he fully recovered from injury and have great result is 2013 which he was still 27,28 years old.
Is it all over for Rafa ??

He's still THE favorite at RG no matter what anybody else does and he's still a top 5 contender at the US Open. He'll be fine
The main thing is always getting injured can create mental problem in the end. Most of his problems in 2015 and 2016 MENTAL only because of getting injured and has to start doing all the work again. It is getting more and more difficult.

No. He pulls this stunt every other year and every time he comes back rested and dominates the tour before he again decides to to take a few months off, tank the grass and hard court season and duck his rivals whenever the circumstances aren't overwhelmingly in his favor.

Doesn't RAFA do this every other year ?? He always has a Great year one year then the following year is total holiday and claims injury is preventing from playing that year and just kind of throws away the entire year except the French open clay season. He had been doing this for a while now.

People said the same a few years ago. Rafa isn’t done winning slams yet. Doesn’t look great for the Australian Open, but if he does skip it then he can just focus on clay. I expect Rafa to end with 18 slams.

Some of the knee jerk-reactions on these boards are priceless. From - He will be the GOAT to his career is over. There just never seems to be a middle ground. Nadal will be fine, he is being cautious not to jeopardize his chances by overplaying. He made that mistake in the fall season to get that number one ranking secure, it cost him a legitimate shot at the WTF, a title he badly wanted.
He needs to give himself the maximum time possible before playing an important event like AO, even if that means not playing any warm ups. Sometimes you just have to work with what you got. Nadal will also see if he truly ready for Melbourne, if not, he will look at the season ahead, and understand where he needs to be in peak form. Nadal is far from done.

Rafa wasn't fully recovered in 2013, he played through knee pain. He underwent stem cell therapy on his left knee at the end of 2013.

What is your source for this? Nothing at all. Skipping a meaningless tune up in Brisbane is the wise move for his scheduling. I'll believe Rafa is injured if and when he pulls out of the AO (which I think is extremely unlikely). He's flying to Australia on January 4. Who makes that hellishly long trip unless they're planning on playing the AO!?
And if he is legitimately injured, he has no one to blame but himself for hideously overplaying in Japan and China. I understand his goal was to get YE #1, but there was always going to be a price to pay for those scheduling choices.
Straight or not, he is still #1

To blame injuries always on Scheduling is ridiculous stuff on this board. Injuries are part of the sport thats it. I mean it would have been so ridiculous for someone to say Fed can only blame himself for his back problems because he rely on his service too much kind of it. These players won so much and they are playing so much as result of it. Fedal both past 30 years old mark they are still looking better than young generation in all departments yeah even in physical department at times. For sure they are pushing their body to the limit thats part of the sport and injuries will happen even they made the most clever choices. The only thing people can say about Rafa that he doesnt have most effortless style but then again it didnt stop him becoming the oldest ever year end NO1.

He's not injured in that sense. He just has chronic issues that become exacerbated with long periods of competition. He's taking a break to rest those joints.
Fed might reclaim #1 after all, if he manages to vulture enough points in Nadal's absence.
