Thiem fell victim to The Fog in three sets. is Thiem’s time up? Can he bounce back? Is he just toying with us and ready to GOAT at RG? Discuss.

No one cares about poor old Dom. :(

It seems that threads only get replies if they are about Fedal or he who shall not be named...

Dominic, once again, has a pretty good tournament, beats Rafa on clay and makes it all the way to the final where he loses, probably at least partially due to being somewhat tired... it sure looked like it.

So what does the scheduling genius do?? Signs up for both singles and effing doubles in the very next tournament, making sure to get as little rest as possible! (Of course, their first match goes all the way to a decisive TB and they win it, making sure he keeps playing further in the crucial doubles event). He probably also asked for mixed but they didn't have the space. What a bloody idiot!!

The Fog was beasting today. Some of those shots were ridiculous but to answer the question, Thiem is a mug who has potential to occasionally doing great things on a given day but nothing more.

We always say if you're gonna do it make sure you do it right. No mercy to that poor racquet. Dominated.

I never knew Thiem was a racquet smasher. That was the most impressive thing he did all day. The man was pissed off but a focused Peak Fog will do that to you.

Thiem is going to be still relevant on clay when Nadal goes.
Sure, he'll never dominate but he should eventually win some big titles
Most likely he''ll end up being the luckiest member of the Lost Gen.

The loss to Fognini after the Madrid final is not a problem.

This is the problem for Thiemo_O

Who plays a 250 event the week before a slam when he's considered an actual "contender" (barf) for the title? Guys like Gulbis or Ryan Harrison might do this, but not a top 10 player on his favorite surface. It's spectacularly stupid scheduling!
Ya, then he will suffer a lower back thing from too much tennis in the RG ... Stupid

Wawrinka played Geneva the week before winning RG'15. He didn't win it like the past two years (QFs 2015) but made SFs and final after his title runs. He's also a WC this year to hopefully get match ready for RG.
