Tomic playing Winnipeg challenger

It's outrageous. And egregious. Something should be done.
Can we start a gofundme to finance the engagement of a lawyer? Surely there is some provision in the Magna Carta whereby we might prosecute him for sorcery, and have him burnt at the stake?

For now, I suggest warning the authorities.

Another question is why he preferred Winnipeg challenger to Newport which is on grass.
I assume that he won't play grass (Antalya + Wimbledon) -> Hard (Winniprg) -> grass (Newport)
rather it is a transition to the hard courts before US Open.
On one side, reaching an assumed QF in Newport = 45 points, which he can beat only with a final or win in Winnipeg
On the other side, he doesn't appear as WC in Winnipeg, which means Winnipeg was his back-up plan if he doesn't reach the second week of Wimbledon

Yeah Newport would have made way more sense. On grass plus it's usually a weak draw. Who knows with this guy.

Ah, les regrettés Nordiques...

Winnipeg's not quite the middle of nowhere, they have that really nice Human Rights museum:

Winnipeg has one very deep connection to London, so it's a natural choice as the next tournament after Wimbledon:

Canadian Lieutenant Harry Colebourn brought a black bear with him as a regimental mascot in the First World War and he named the bear "Winnie" after his hometown Winnipeg. After the war Winnie was donated to the London Zoo and became the inspiration for Winnie the Pooh. Plus Winnipeg and Wimbledon both start with "Wi"

No reason for me to travel then. I love all dressed chips. Don't like ketchup though.
To me, all-dressed tastes like a ketchup with seasoning. I'm surprised you like one but not the other.

Maybe Winnipeg has a booming club scene?

Maybe Tomic got confused when he booked his plane tickets : " "Wi" followed by a ton of lettahs some time in July, yah, that's gotta be it... man, these flights are cheap!"

Sounds right. Reminds me that from time to time someone accidentally books and lands in Sydney Nova Scotia when they thought they were going to Sydney, Australia.

BBC: Dutch student accidently lands...

I don't get this guy at all.

He gives no effort at Wimbledon (on grass which should suit his game) in a winnable match against old washed up Tsonga, yet is willing to travel and play in random challengers? Very odd.

Lost $90k and needs the money.

He plays his first round in Newport today.

He plays his first round in Newport today.

I noticed that as well.
Combined with his poor run in Winnipeg, it raised some questions:
- why did he register in Winnipeg? was it really for points, or rather to "cover the travel expenses to Newport"
- did he try his best efforts there or tanked again

I was bored enough to watch this match I'm happy to report that although Boyknee lost he fought valiantly...even once joking loudly that he'd "better wake up and start playing or I won't get paid."
Good stuff.

I didn't realize he'd lost. Probably didn't cover his expensive. Winnipeg to Newport probably not cheap travelling either.

Gotta feel for Bernie...

He lost in Winnipeg after having a match point, and saving two MPs himself. He really tried... And now this. He had a 5-2* lead in the second set.
