Been looking for a new racket for the past ~20 months, and for some reason, I keep coming back to the MG Radical MPs. Can't believe a matched pair is the same cost as one new racket. This is my story...
My wrist was in a lot of pain when I sought the comfort of the mg radical. Initially, I don't know what came over me for I had an intense dislike of Head rackets as a junior and thought 18x20 was a waste of extra synthetic gut. You could squeeze out an extra string job with the amount of string saved, so thought went. But one summer night, as my wrist was under an ice pack, I ordered a pair of the ugly, orange rackets using my non-dominant hand. You know, the one that holds the racket and doesn't do much else. As summer changed into fall, I found out that the racket can take lead very well. On a whim, I even tried capping it for fun.
Unfortunately for the mg radical, I couldn't stay faithful. During the winter season, an Ultra Tour snuck in, got traded on the forum and came back for another round only to be back in the bag. The PK Redondo I got initially for the pain was underwhelming. Even hooked up with a PT630 that had been around the block several times. Between the rides on the racket carousel, the mg radical was always there for me. More lead, less lead. Move the balance a few cm here and there. Cap it, uncap it.
Now I find out that the Head Tennis Sensor doesn't fit in the buttcaps of the MG line, so a younger Graphene Touch Prestige has made its way into my bag.
What I've come to realize is that the only thing I cannot stand is the paint job. I'm starting to think that the ride would have ended if it came in a simple, mostly monochrome paint job. Don't care if its glossy or matte, just cannot bring myself to commit.
I know this sounds stupid, but it has come down to either sanding the pair down or finding a tennis racket customization shop to repaint it. If anyone knows of a place that can do that, let me know. Please. I can't spend any more money on murses.
