Thiem more like: "I'm ready to lose extremely gracefully to Rafa again"

Zverev 2019 slams = 1 QF / 2 4th round / 1 beautiful first round exit
Tsitsipas 2019 slams = 1 SF / 1 4th round / 2 beautiful first round exits
Thiem 2019 slams = 1 F / 1 2nd round / 2 beautiful first round exits.

Yet all 3 are predicting a new slam winner in 2020?
Stranger upsets have happened...Wilander, Chang, Sampras and Kuerten had less (Max 4R by Petros) ink on their CVs when they broke through.

I would love to see nextgen retire the big 3

That ship sailed long ago. Big 3 retirements at this stage should all be attributed to time not due to anything NextGen does.

Well they all feel confident they can beat Federer and rightfully so and that makes them feel special. When they calm down they will realise Federer is old enough to be their fathers so even if they beat the great man at a Major now it doesnt say much for them. Basically they could never beat Federer before he was almost 39.

Beating Nadal or Djokovic over 5 sets wont happen for any of them. Maybe they can take Djokovic to 5 sets before losing but softening Djokovic up for later rounds but none will beat him.

As for Nadal, if they cannot beat him indoors when he is playing badly on the fastest court of the season when he has not practiced properly over 3 sets, they will never beat him outdoors over 5 sets on slower courts.

Talent wise none of next generation are as good as Dimitrov and look at his career.

All still have to worry about the vets too. JMDP, Stan, Cilic, Nishikori, Raonic, RBA, Diego, Monf, Murray can all take down next gens in slams.

They can slam the door on them again in 2020...but then 2021 and 2022 are still gonna happen. The Big 3 aren't going to be able to keep this up for much longer with their old behinds. Djoker with his bum shoulder and elbow, Nadal with his knees and wrist and whatever else, Federer with his grandpa body failing him nowadays).

Thiem has beaten Djokovic in 2 Slams.
Tsitsipas beat Federer in a Slam.
Thiem and Medvedev both pushed Nadal to his physical limits at the USO respectively.
The Fierce Four are closing in. Time isn't going to stop for the Big 3. The end is inevitable. We have to accept it.

Tsitsipas after losing 4th Round of AO 2020:

"I wasn't really trying, y'know? I didn't want to die on the court especially since I was already having a bad hair day. I could have won had I won 3 sets before my opponent, but he was able to get to the threshold before me. My opponent also bored me to tears, I thought I was playing Medvedev out there. See you at Sofia."

What I could gather from the OP post is that Tsitsipas was the only guy to name himself as a future GS winner next year. The others didn't refer to anyone in particular. Just said someone.

Beating a 37-38 year old Fed in a slam nowadays just doesn't mean much. At this point, he is the easiest among the Big 3 to defeat in a GS. The fact that Tsitsipas got destroyed by Nadal afterwards (who wasn't even that great in that event) proves it.

Pathetic from Tsitsipas if he really said that. I remember long time ago Dinara Safina was saying she is definitely going to become a multiple slam champion. How did it end? Never won a single slam and nobody even remembers her name. Was lucky to be an undeserved world number 1 for some time.

If I were a professional tennis player, I would never say that I'm close to being crowned GS champion. Because then I would have to clean my face of all the egg dropped on it.

When Nadal is 37, Tsitsipas will be 24 and a much stronger player. I don't think I can see Nadal staying ahead of the nextgen for much longer. They're already taking Federer's scalp at his old age. Factor in the other guys including Medvedev, Thiem, Zverev, Berrettini...it's going to be a real battle for the big 3 to stay ahead of these young guys.

The greatest champions are the ones with the most self-belief.
Lot of guys on this forum hated Djokovic's cocky attitude when he was a teen. The way he dismissed Federer and Nadal back when he was 19 years old. And now look at him. His self belief made him into a multi time grand slam champion. You need that fire and passion if you want to be great.

I've heard worse.
How about Djokovic's comments about Federer before their AO2007 meeting? Didn't he say something along the lines of "He's going down!" to which Federer took exception to?
Djokovic's comments about being in control of the match despite being down 2 sets to Nadal at RG2006. That was fun! LOL

It's ok to have self-belief. But keep it to yourself. Don't let other players hear it. Especially when you are still unproven.
Djokovic was yapping away as a teen before he had even won a Masters. Saying stuff much worse than what Tsitsipas has said.

Look at Fed in the background, he looked at the big screen to watch Zverevs celebration and could probably read his lips.

But a bit hard to grasp his celebration. Time for what? lol.

Mad Lad took Rafa to five in the US Final, and all of the Big 3 got beat by one of the top young guys at WTF. We are close.
