Djokovic tells Serbian fans to stay quiet after they start cheering Mahut's fault (and shouting before second serve)

Actually, what happened was most of the Serbian crowd thought the match was over. They didn't know what a match tiebreak was and were all confused.

They called out all through the Paire v Lajovic match to distract the server and had been doing for a large part of the doubles .. but that particular example was caused by them all wondering why another point was being played.

The moment I am talking about is different. They started shouting just after the first fault. If confusion over match tiebreak was there, they would have shouted after the end of point at 6-3.

Sometimes the loud crowd can be bad even for the ones they cheer.

I don't like Novak having to do that, but there are fans that just need to learn to shut up.

The other thing you may not have seen on tv is that when it got to 7-3, a whole bunch of Serbian fans left their seats and headed towards the Serbian bench to get autographs. There were literally dozens of people (mostly kids) running down the stairs while that point was being played. It slowed once they realised the match wasn't over, but Fergus had lost control and never really regained it. To be honest, he has let quite a few matches descend into farces.

how does the first one prove anything? he smashed a racquet, so what, didn’t offend anyone did he?
Racquet smashing isn't classy, but that doesn't automatically make the player a classless jerk, though. Federer used to smash racquets frequently back in the day, but he was always regarded as a class act.

Shapovalov smashed an umpires face. Ohwell. Glad he didn't offend anyone.

I mean Fed is not known for smashing racquets (last smashing dates back to 2009) but he very often angrily smashes a ball into a crowd after a lost point, still to this day. he has just been luckier than Shapo. why does this not get mentioned, and Djoko’s smashing does? both have never actually hurt or damaged anyone with the racquet/ball smashing, but what Fed does is more dangerous. yet he’s a class act and Djoko is not.

There's basic skill involved in not hitting a ball into the stands with incredibly low angle. Like 1 tennis skill. Or 1 basic intellect. Neither of which Shapo had at that moment.

But yeah Fed's class is really overrated. I can really believe he's a nice, fun dude to be around but I'll never get why he's treated like such a saint. Also easy to be nice when everyone's licking your butt.

I mean he’s still one of the most classy guys on tour, but he’s overdoing it sometimes with the incredibly careful PC comments you can see right through (I mean arguing with Serena that her serve is better? come on).

why do you actually hate him then? I mean you don’t have to lick his ass like the most of us, but does the "i know how you feel" comment really deserve such hatred? or is it that he didn’t allow your boy to win anything?

I mean here you admitted you believe he’s a fairly nice, fun guy behind the curtains, so what spurred the hatred?

I think being a Roddick fan might have something to do with it.

Not in his racquet smashing days, he wasn't. He admits that when he was young he was a bit of a bad-tempered jerk on court and only gradually learnt to rein in his emotions and stop wasting energy in temper tantrums.

Smashing rackets should NOT be allowed! It can be dangerous for ball kids, the players, and is a bad example for kids playing tennis. It is juvenile and stupid behavior by adults.

Is this topic about racket smashing or Djokovic is telling his fans to be quiet?
Always and always about moving away good narrative about him.
If he donates money for Australia it is too small amount, if he talks about air quality at Melbourne it's about his audacity.

Only the first 2 gifs really prove any point. Djokovic released a whole ass apology video for shouting at the ballboy.
He apologized to ballboy for scaring him while shouting at his box.

Serbian fans have a reputation for being very hostile. In football for instance, Red Star Belgrade's Stadion Crvena Zvezda is reputed to be maybe the most intimidating place for a football player to go to. The place looks nasty af.
