Evert was known to be very 'active' in dating among tennis players unlike her image. She was not an impulsive kind. Before Lloyd, she dated Jimmy Connors and almost married him. It seems Evert was disappointed with Lloyd's on-court attitude (but who can compete with Jimbo in that department...). So, I wonder what was so great about John Lloyd?

I think its a little absurd that many imply Evert was promiscuous just because she dated more than one or 2 guys in her life, she wasn't a nun you know.

We all know about Evert's mental fortitude and coolness on court. To me, it seemed like an extreme-Connors and Lloyd. Didn't Connors destory Lloyd in one occasion when Evert married Lloyd? Oh, well, I guess she was attracted to him for some reasons but gradually disappointed with something unexpected (as most of us do).

i am reading her biography right now, so maybe i will make a post after i am more into teh book. so far i know that she was super sheltered in childhood, so she tried to make up for it in her later years.

My friend has a theory about divorce. She say she will date a divorced man. But no a twice divorced man because that means two other women have married him and decided to move on. The constant in the equation is the twice divorced man.
Now Chris Evert has divorced a second time. She has three boys ages between ages 10-15. She should listen to Dr. Laura and not even think about dating until her youngest is a high school graduate.
It is surprising that wild boy Connors is still in his first marriage and she has divorced twice.

All tennis players are going to have some sort of skin issues once they are done playing the game (Even Sharapova and the Williams sisters) because it comes with the territory, but I've seen recent photos of Evert and she looked GREAT! Her skin isn't how you described it at all.

I think even Chrissie would tell us that John helped her career tremendously. If he wasn't driven enough in his own career, at least he was able to be a hitting partner for Chris during his respites from the tour and was of great moral support to her.
I remember reading that after Chris lost to Tracy at the 1979 US Open final, she called John in Europe (he was getting ready for Davis Cup) and told him she really needed him. John was also very good at studying Martina, Tracy, Hana, Andrea, etc. and helping Chris and Dennis Ralston with strategy.
I think Chris gives John a lot of credit for her improvement in 1984 and 1985. So he was a very important compenent to her life - personally and professionally.

Nah, Evert doesn't even come close to Sharapova, and didn't at any age, as the above pictures attest.
Just as they are probably better tennis players and use better equipment than their predecessors, the tennis hotties of today blow the hotties of yesteryear out of the water.

Chris Evert looks good for 50. And Sharapova may look horrible at 50, since rumor has that Russian women don't age well. However, Sharapova at 20 looks better than Evert at 50, or 40, or 30, or 20... Only Chris Evert's mother could look at that picture of her next to Sharapova and say she is prettier than Sharapova, either now or at any time previously in her life.

LOL, it was the 70's. That time period will never be known for good hairstyles or good fashion choices.
If we are talking about her looks, I never found her attractive. But I have a DVD of a match she played when she was about 16 or 18 (?) against V. Wade. When she was younger, she was quite curvy and kinda cute.
I have no business knowing this, but Chris didn't start to rock that frizzy 'do until 1984 at the earliest. Around then she also became friendly with Kathy Smith, an aerobics/exercise mogul who Chris used to get back an edge in her head-to-heads with Martina. Kathy's influence shows in the exer-**** pic. Chris' hairstyles in the '70s ranged from a schoolgirl ponytail (excellent - early '70s), to a feathered Dorthy Hamill (didn't really work for her, but everybody had one in the mid '70s), to her personal low point of what was effectively a John Denver-type 'do (late '70s). She went back to a very attractive ponytail in the early '80s, then frizzed out with the perm shown in the above pics. Last, I think she looks better now than ever - good for you, Chris!
I remember watching the Chris Evert charity event about 15 months ago and was stunned how unattractive her(CE) skin looked on her exposed arms and shoulders. I know that the sun beats down the skin but she looked quite unsightly.
She does take a nice photo in earlier years and does look quite nice against MS more recently.
She did benefit in judging her looks being compared to the other stars of her day. Court, King, Goolagong, Austin, Jaeger, Navratilova and Graf are not exactly beer commercial material. Tennis should not and is not about how you look but how you play and what titles you won. I only bring this up because some CE fans think she was a beauty and she was not. She was an avergae to slightly above average looker in a group of less than average looking women.
Applaud their strengths avoid their flaws but don't build them up to me more than they are/were. MS is HOT and could easily land a role on a soap opera. CE was a great player a nice person I hope but she and her father both bear a resemblance to Frank Purdue!!

Hmmm....maybe you should take your own advice? Seems to me you just did what you told us not to do! Get a TV close up of Sharapova during a match and you've got Acne town population MaSha.
IMO, Evert is more attractive. Now there may be some external considerations like she didn't scream every time she hit the ball, she exuded class and poise on the court, her dad wasn't a slime ball who cheated from the stands, and her cheeks didn't resemble a close up of the moon on Monday Night Football. But again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Gentlemen, I suggest that you take your own advice and compare, if only in your minds, those soap opera beauties that the other poster referred to under similar conditions to those in which we see MS. To wit, how many of these allegedly fresh faced starlets actually have better skin or would come off looking any better than MS if they were forced to run around a tennis court in minimal or no make up for a couple of hours under the harsh glare of unforgiving TV lights?
Actresses/models/whatever have an unfair advantage over MS in this area, and it's easy to forget that. Now, since we can't compare how these girls look at their worst compared to Maria since we never see them under the kind of unforgiving conditions in which we routinely see MS, we are left with one area of comparision: How do they look at their best? And there's simply no question that MS looks just as most any soap opera starlet or other attractive gal celeb when similarly made up and adorned with comparable bells and whistles.
Verdict? MS is much more attractive than Evert ever was, and is on a par with many hot celebrities.

In 1980, Connors married model Patti McGuire. They have two children and live in the Santa Barbara, California area.

I will agree, actresses do have an unfair advantage over Sharapova, they're usually really good looking or beautiful. Where as Shrapova is not.
