Rematch of MC semi final, but Federer is a little more vulnerable now after he lost to Volandri. Players think they have a chance. My head says Roger, but my heart says JC wins in 3.

My heart and gut say Ferrero; he's had success against Fed in the past; the clay is slow; Fed's confidence is wavering while Ferrero's is growing, etc. But there's far too many intangibles here to make a call. I think a deciding factor could be Fed's first serve percentage, as well as the percentage of points won on that first serve.

It really just comes down to confidence between these two, right? In terms of style, when they're both playing well, they have very close matches (see Madrid 2003). But right now Federer still has much more assurance in his ground game than JCF, even with his recent poor form. If JC were in the form he had before all of his injury and illness problems, standing on top of the baseline, smacking forehands left and right, then I'd give him the clear advantage. But he's way too inconsistent right now. In his first round match he was looking very much like his old confident self, but after the match with Safin I don't know what to make of him. I just hope it's a high quality match with Roger.

i'm saying federer takes a big step in getting it together and works ferrero over in straights, 6-2 6-3

at least i hope...

Anybody watching the match live? Did anyone catch Fed´s warmup hoodie jacket? It was half white, half blue. What´s the name of that and where do I get it?

looks like Fed-Djokovic and Nadal-Davy are the semis and then Roger-Nadal is for final :p Roger needs to win just to boost his ego before the French

Well a very good appearance by Federer and now everyone will say that he is playing better without Roche, that he will win Hamburg or at least reach the final, that he has a chance to win the RG and he will hold his number 1 spot for a long time

Fed's on fire!

Yeah baby! Someone here mentioned the other day that Federer needed to go back to varying more his topspin backhand with his backspin backhand. I think he was right. Seems to me that Fed is doing more of that today and it seems to be helping.

Hope he is back, this is good for him and for the game in general...

Well, it's over, Bye bye Fererro... You know, it's comforting to see that Fed is just human, after all... Hey, but he seems to be fighting his demons very well... He looked in this match like he's back to his old form...

A great step back to form. I'm hesitant to declare him all the way back, but he's definitely on the right track.

I want to see a Fed/Nadal final at Roland Garros. I don't care who wins.

You should have put money on it.... Spot on mate!!!

Good call.

thank you, thank you....:)

wow how ironic, i just checked the scores and my prediction was the right score! did federer change his shirt? dump mirka? call up cahill? slice more? dance a little more between points?

no!!!! :) he just won...lol

lucky guess on my part but i also said nadal would win in straights easily (easy prediction there).....still lucky, but hopefully federer can start building some confidence by stringing together straight set crushings....

federer beat ferrero is because ferrero plays badly today.....
the real test for federer is in the semi against djokovic, if they both make it there
