Federer -770 vs. Ferrero +700

10th meeting between these two guys. 1st meeting since 2005 Wimbledon. Roger leads head to head record 6-3 with one of these wins coming from a Ferrero retirement. I like Roger in straight sets.

Ferrero's playing good tennis so far. His forehand's looking lethal, his backhand's been pretty solid too, and he serves smart enough on clay. The one thing he really lacks is a finishing touch at the net. He does, however, has finesse to pull some nice drop shots. Oh, and he moves well. He has an excellent record at Monte Carlo, and being a former World number one, he knows how to win.

JCF is playing good but no way near his old best form.

I think Gasquet got tired or got muscle cramp after he chased that
drop shot. Gasquet playing level went down significantly and gave the
match away..

I would be very surprised if JCF can beat Federer right now.
of course, JCF is a FO Champion and Fed is not but....

Agree... Ferrero simply did not show enough weapons today that he can beat Federer.. he simply hung in the match until Richard level dropped as his legs were getting more and more tired. I doubt he can win more then 6 games.

6-4, 6-2 win for Roger.

Federer in straights.I cant see JCF winning, but you never know,Fed hasnt been doing that great this week IMO...maybe JCF can find something special.....but i wanna see another Federer v Nadal final:-D

Ferrero isn't up to his old standards just yet. If this were 02/03 Ferrero, I'd pick Ferrero. But often times JC's forehand can look pedestrian.

I think Roger will win fairly easily actually, but I'm rooting for JC to win it or at least make it a match. People forget how great Ferrero was before his unfortunate injuries.

True, 02-03 Ferrero was viscious on clay. Much stronger and faster than a guy like David Ferrer. His shots were really piercing and you just don't see that type of consistently heavy ball a lot nowadays, except from Federer and sometimes Nadal. Ferrero was about 50/50 in today's match; there were points where he would easily dominate with his forehand like he used (the big point at 4-2 in the 2nd, for instance), but then there were other times where his forehand was just completely flat. His movement also looks sluggish every now and then. Anyway, if he can muster up his old speed and power for tomorrow's match, it is VERY possible he can pull off the upset. Otherwise...

ferrero will win, can't wait to see how he matches up against nadal on clay. He's probably the only one, (apart from canas possibly), who's capable of beating him.

Ferrero might win the first set, but this is no upset in the making.
If Federer plays well from the start then it will be an easy one for him. If not, and JCF wins the first set, Fed will certainly wake up and take the match.

And Ferrero starts with a break! 2-1 for him. In these 3 games it looks like Ferrero can hurt Federer from the baseline.

Fed takes the first set 6-3 coming back from 1-3. He has played more agressive since then and Ferrero is making more errors. I smell a straight sets victory.

Federer has found the way to beat Ferrero easily. Use th short slice and draw Ferrero to the net he's useless there. Smart play.

Haha 6-3 1-0 atm. Funny net exchange to make it 15-15 in the first game of the second set. Looks like Federer has it in the bag, though.

3*:2 Ferrero with 2 holds to love in a row. But breaking Federer is a different task and I doubt he can come back.
