Welcome back @swordtennis

@NoleFam looks like he's actually won 19 out of the last 20 tiebreaks (ATP Cup included). Damn that London decider against Thiem where he had a couple of minibreaks, he should have smashed Roddick's record by now.

Wow then it's more than the total I had. That is crazy. He was so close in that Thiem match too. My goodness, he is a beast in tiebreaks. He is not #2 in the Open Era in tiebreaks for nothing. ;)

Def looks like he is has some neck issues. His weak spot has always been the arms neck and shoulders. He has to manage wisely.

Yea it's a worrying sign. At least he has decent draw compared to that lion's den they threw him last year. He definitely has to maintain his body especially at his age.

Yeah he needs to manage his body well over next few weeks. Hopefully he is okay and can play a good final tomorrow. Either way the us open is what really matters now. The final would be nice to win but he needs to be in top shape for start of us open.

Should he tank tomorrow final? I mean he really has nothing to prove against his proven pigeon.Raonic...Lose the battle to win the war sort of thing..

I don't think Djokovic withdrawing from this match will be of any benefit. If he plays, clearly can't win, and is risking making his injury worse, he can always just retire mid-match. Not an honorable thing to do, but it would just be stupid to not give it a try. He might feel in form tomorrow, and I'd rather people see Novak winning Cincy than see him withdraw. It'd get further in their head, rather than see him as vulnerable they'd see him as the guy that won the first event coming off a huge break and the owner of a 20+ match win streak.

No point in not trying at this point. He owns Raonic and rallies shouldn't be physically demanding and as you said winning Cincy would do wonders for his aura.

Obviously you have no doubts, but I'm not 100% sure that USO 2020 will be completed. We have a pandemic here, nextmore thing is, that in America is BLM protests. Despite all the measures, the security bubble that isolates the tournament from the rest of society is fragile. Novak may not be prevented from winning the 4th USO title by an opponent on the court, but by a factor from outside space.

Nole will do everything he can to win the final. In addition, Raonic is a more acceptable opponent for him than Tsitsipas.

Troll alert with an exponent by it. He's 10-0 against Raonic and should beat him in about 70 minutes. "Withdraw" or "tank?" Sure....

Well, a lot of guys, myself included thought if it goes to 3 long sets vs Roberto he will tank but he did not. Strange considering he is eying USO, maybe he thinks he can sleepwalk through the first week but I don't think so.

This was a great victory. But let's not forget the elephant in the room here. Novak hasn't played great the last 2 matches and is potentially nursing an injury.

This won't work against the likes of Medvedev and Thiem. Let's hope he has a fairly easy road to quarters so that he can fix those neck issues before the buisness end of the slam!

He is making tons of DF, so many that i remembered Zverev.

Perhaps it's the neck, he started bad today and yesterday he played worse all match, fortunately he Houdinied himself out of those situations.

Every other game he started with missing 1st serve
.I said to myself, Oh here we go again..

It looks like that with this win Djokovic secured YE#1 ...

And if "Covid-19" rules of not dropping points extend into the next season ... Most weeks at #1 !!!

Congrats !!!

I could have sworn i read somewhere, that this rule is only until like beginning of next season...still think he has weeks record set in stone if he grabs USO and follows that with one victory between RG and WTF (ideally both!)

How did the neck affect him? Seems to me his BH motion was a bit stiff/unnatural.

Also it looks (or so I hope) Covid-19 didnt have much effect on his cardio/stamina.

Good win.

Mainly the serve as it requires him to arch his neck back where the injury supposedly is, as far as groundstrokes go, probably only a but of discomfort. Luckily Djokovic is arguably the best returner and the world and can break his opponent even if his serve falters.:)

Yes, the "Covid-19" rule of not dropping points is valid only for this season ... but the pandemic (the reason behind the "Covid-19" rule) is still going on strong and it is not outside of the realm of possibility that it will be extended until 03/23/21 (1 full year) . Still TBD ...

Unless Nadal/Thiem decide to play every tournament announced until the end of the year (and win most of them and Djokovic decides not to play those tournaments) - no chance of catching Djokovic !!!

Six times YE#1 !!!

I also noticed that his BH was bit "unusual" ... more spin than driving through ... maybe "mechanical" issue (injury/discomfort), maybe tactics (slower surface/clay season coming soon) ...

In general, I did notice a bunch of topspin BHs landing in/close to service box ... Maybe it was "designed" for Raonic (very poor moving forward) maybe the "depth" will come later as RG gets closer ...

But something new for sure ...

Honestly , feels bit weird ... Djokovic winning this "tournament" ...

And I do agree that instead of silly "dance party" at the end of the tournament (sexist tradition) there should be an exo "match" between the ATP and WTA tournament winners ... Let them have fun, share the court and honestly promote the game ...

Too early to say that. He needs USO and 500 more points somewhere.

Can someone provide calculation of Novak's theoretical YEn1, exactly how many more points does he have to gain?
