The current corona situation in France is very serious.
There are now more than 40,000 confirmed cases
National lockdown was carried out in France
Most French schools are also closed

So I want to ask you how much do you think the 2021 French Open is likely to be cancelled?
It doesn't seem like it makes sense that it can't be canceled unconditionally
I think RG could be canceled

Hi Skypad! Love your posting style. Very honest and unafraid. Refreshing.

To your OP - RG getting canceled is basically unforeseeable.

0% chance especially with a big portion of the tour being vaccinated by then
Only if a big portion of the tour is getting first dose right now, which is not the case...
You have dose one, wait a few weeks for dose two, and wait a few weeks for antibodies to form...

Roland Garros is in 7 weeks, pfizer vax is two weeks to second dose, 12 days to antibodies. J&J one dose.

I can only see it postponed. Worked well enough last year.

Most of Canada for example which has completely failed their vaccine rollout will be vaccinated. (I live here and that's factual information not a jab)

Astra vaccine? My point stands, players must start taking vaccine as soon as possible... Have you heard any player took vaccine? Which percent did that? Don't think it will happen, unless ATP say vaccine or no play...

Much of the tour will either be recovered with antibodies or vaccinated by then.

Damn, imagine if Djokovic has to play a fresh Nadal at Wimbledon!
Even a tired Nadal makes Djokovic play 10-8 5th Set at 2018 Wimbledon....

About as much of a chance as Goran gave RAFA in last year’s final :p

I would find it very much odd, indeed.

I have a bad feeling that the FO will be cancelled... It’s all part of Djokovic’s endless luck as he had no chance to win there...

We have to protect the citizens and therefore a cancellation should be on the cards. We don't want the virus to keep spreading especially if the situation in france is bad.

You tend to be wrong. Actually you tend to be wrong a lot! ;)
Facts are facts mate, 10-8 5th Set 2018 Wimbledon SF.
And the roof was closed the entire match.
And Nadal beat Del Potro in 5 sets in the QF, and Nadal played more drop shots in that match than I've ever seen him play....

That doesn't mean he was tired. The way I see it, playing that tough match vs Del Potro helped him reach another gear for the semi. When he doesn't have a challenging match through a tournament, it normally doesn't end well for him (other than on clay where he might just be sweeping the floor with his opponents).
He didn't lose a set until the final in the 2019 AO, and we saw what happened. Not saying that he would have had a chance otherwise, but from personal experience, a tough opponent makes you play better, and if you make it through, you can have an advantage there. It could indeed go both ways, and tire you off. But Nadal is one of the players with most stamina, so I doubt that was the reason.

The biggest problem for Nadal when having back to back long, tough matches is getting injured. If his body is doing ok in that department, is hard to see him tired (or more than his opponent, for that matter).

Lol, how many times did you spam threads here with a similar argument about Novak and the 2020 AO final? Have you learned nothing?

Nadal hasn’t beaten Novak off clay in what, almost a decade? He hasn’t reached a final since 2011 and Novak won 4 of the last 6 Wimbledons including the last two.

Just do away with Clay as a surface for the FO and replace it with a surface that will make Nadal boycott it, it should be the fastest surface ever with low bounce too :p

The panic about Nadal getting 21 is setting in across France lol. Problem is Wimbledon is more likely to be cancelled.
Is it really? I would imagine that by june most of the high risk people will be vaccinated (and in the uk they're not going as slow as in the eu), so I'd say they should play it at least without an audience? Are they really planning on cancelling it? I couldn't really imagine it cancelled twice in a row
