It is the Federer Pro: a prototype tennis shoe from ON. They have been teasing with it since at least the summer of 2020. Federer is play testing it. It is its first outing on clay too. I reckon it will be available for purchase at the beginning of the next season (but that is a speculation on my part).

I’ve come to the sad conclusion that wide toebox low drop shoes don’t exist anymore for tennis. I’ve been having better luck in altra training shoes with molded insoles lately.

@One Handed Dynasty - Indeed! I have been wearing the Blueshields since the 3's. They are probably the most comfortable shoes with cushioning that I have worn. It's not as big an issue on clay, but we played 3 days in a row this weekend on hard and they sure helped out.

Thanks for the tip! I’ve hit desperate times trying to finding a wide and comfortable shoe these days. I actually gave up on tennis shoes and settled on a pair of altra solstices with wide sole heat moldable insoles for extra support. The blueshield’s width and drop look super promising, I’m gonna give them a go.

I second Diadora for wide toe box. I bought a pair of the S. Star K Ace (in the retro colourway) on a whim last year, and they've been the best-fitting shoe I've ever owned. Plus, because of the leather, they have some decent stretch. I believe they're discontinued, but I found a place on the 'Bay selling them, and I bought four more pairs.
I'm very interested in the possibility of ON releasing anything for tennis that has a similar cut to Fed's version (wide feet dudes unite!), but I'm definitely going to give Diadora another shot once I run out of the ones I have.

Had a pair of Diadora Borg running shoes. Man were they comfortable. Beige with a dark brown stripe and his signature, with the speed lacing. There they are at the bottom of the photo. Had a pair of Diadora canvas, too; white with the light blue stripe. Really comfortable as well.

I’ve got to wonder - what they are doing with what will probably be the largest amount of attention Fed is going to get them? People want to look like Roger on the court much more than off. I find it hard to believe that whatever engineering and manufacturing costs a retail version would have incurred wouldn’t have been made back and then some within 12 hours of launch. It’s not like consumer satisfaction with the current tennis shoes available is high, 9/10 players I know hate their current pair.
Does anyone know if they plan to enter the tennis shoe market? It just seems silly to not take the opportunity when they have a competitive advantage like Fed and level of competition is so low.

Wimbledon. That’s my guess at to when they announce the shoe for retail. That or the Open. They want it around a slam where RF will be the most visible. Similar to Fed Uniqlo Wimbledon 2018. Fed could have waited till after, but from a marketing standpoint Wimbledon or US Open are it.

Wimbledon would be awesome! I really hope they end up releasing it, the dearth of shoe quality at the moment really has the door wide open.

There are plenty of awesome and good quality shoes in the $130-150 range today. Why would you spend $250+ on something just to look like an icon??
There's too many shoes that look like futuristic space-boots now (asymmetric lacing, no-tongue construction, really small tongue etc etc - Nike is worst offender). I like the look of these ONs because they look fairly conservative, normal.
I know you're a fan of Head shoes, I think a couple of their models look good, they look like a Vapor 9.
I have a slight mental block about using shoes made my a different racquet brand than the racquet I'm using though (I realise this is stupid).

I am glad I discovered the Head shoes because they are a great fit for my (neutral, not too wide, not too skinny) feet and come with the 6-month sole warranty, and are nicely cushioned and light and stable. Definitely not overpriced either. Worth the try.
I am with you on some of the latest designs -- not for me. I do like the conservative looks of the ONs too however, just like with the new Lacoste shoes, I don't want to be paying extra for the brand name and no true value.

ON needs to release a tennis shoe for wide forefoot ASAP. Currently there is no offering on the market that covers that niche: the last one was Adidas SCB and it is getting discontinued.

I find the Revolt Pro forefoot space similar to the SCB. There are a few more like that - Diadoras for example as I hear (have not tried them)

I don't think that it has as much space at the toe box as the SCB and I am not impressed with the cushioning of any of the HEAD shoes either, so they wouldn't be for me. The Diadoras I haven't tried, but it is obviously the whole package that counts.

I found Revolt Pro 3.5 to be more cushioned than the SCB. Still have a pair of the SCB and they feel bare when I go back to them occasionally...
