There was a thread started by someone regarding Margaret Court.. The thread was going along nicely until the same serial offender/offenders did their usual and spoiled it for everyone.. There was nothing offensive in the thread up until that time, and the debate was cordial and polite..

I for one posted quite a lengthy explenation and theory regarding a curtain player, and all for nothing, as it appears that once again. the mods on these boards are asleep at the wheel and allowing one or two idiots to ruin it for the rest of us, and perfectly good threads are being deleted because of it..

May I ask that you either ban the people making the trouble, and I mean ISP address and all.. Or just delete their stupid comments andtaunts.. But dont punish all of us by deleting a whole thread, when it is clear that there are questionable threads being left unattended...

And now to cause trouble the idiot has started another stupid thread comparing 2 former players.. ala Condoleezza.

Moderators do not have the power to impose bans. If you have issues with users, shoot an e-mail to the administrator with usernames. If the admins find the actions of these users to be problematic, they will (most likely) get warned, and if the behavior is reoccurring after that point, they will be dealt with.

Look, I dont know what the answer is to cleaning up these boards. But I am sure if there was a limit to who TW allowed in order to use them, then you would find that the problems would clear up.. I am not suggestion charging a subscription, but I would suggest only giving access to people that have purchased products of a certain value from TW.. We already have customer accounts where by TW has our credit info, so why not have a customer number that is only issued once.. That way you would get rid of the dual personality types like this FedSampras/rogerfederer26 guy, and then you would notice that we wouldnt have to deal with kids with no credit cards and big mouths anymore..

You'll get flamed because these boards turn non-buyers into buyers. That membership thing is an extreme approach.

The simple answer to your problems is moderators not removing entire threads because of trolls.

HOWEVER, if the OP of the thread is getting into it with the trolls, then you can't really blame the moderators for sticking it to the OP as well. If this is happening to you, just add these trolls to your ignore list. It's all you can do.

We Mods don't have the time to examine EVERY thread that starts. So, TT-ers, help us out.

There's a Report Post feature (Triangle, bottom left of each post's frame.) to help you make us aware of Train Wrecks, Porn posts, Trolling, Name-calling, Advertising, etc. If our fellow TT-ers would use this feature to alert us to threads "going bad" ... we might be able to save the thread(s).

What happens all too often is ... we are made aware of a Train Wreck after it's already four pages long with flaming and trolling. At that point it's more trouble than it's worth to zap 2.5 pages of bad posts; we just nuke the whole thread. (And in our Private Moderator's forum we lament this. It happens too frequently; it bugs us too.)

Help the Mods. Use the Report feature.

Only if you want to think of it that way. If you report something early, it helps us KEEP threads alive. Once a thread is riddled with 50+% flame posts, most of the time it's impossible ANYWAYS to resume a normal, civil discussion because the people involved are already too heated.

I feel that the order limit's abit extreme. It would basically rid tw of alot of the non-americans. I've bought stuff from tw (a racket,some clothes,shoes etc.) but probably not enough to allow me membership. I'm sure some on the board, perhaps some of the most knowledgeable havn't bought enough, or even in some cases nothing from TW. You'd just end up removing them.

Anyway, Congrats on the baby!

I'll be the first to admit I have had some "fights" with people that just go on and on. At first its fun, but can go south quickly. I know what you mean.

yea it totally agree with chris in japan, but at the same time i understand there is no where in heckk to keep up with the insane amount of posts. so bottom line, the report feature should be used more. hmm....

My problem isn't when a few people have the odd disagreement, nor do I get all that upset when someone has a go at me.. Its when you have someone that clearly is "getting off" on what they are doing, and deliberately just posting in order to get a reaction from you and others that irks me..

They simply shouldn't be allowed to get to that point.. I also understand that the mods have a pretty hard job at times, and my beef really isn't with them. But as we have seen of late, we are getting the same 2-3 members that are starting the same threads over and over again with only one thing in mind, and that is to cause trouble.. The Graf Seles one is a good example. And all I have asked for is to have them give it a rest for a while..

I also understand that mods dont want to get involved in any disputes. But if these hebitual posters continue with their stupid rants. Then maybe instead of deleting the thread strait off, they should publicly scold that member in the thread, and tell them to pull their head in or express the fact the thread would be pulled because of their behavior..

Its obvious these clowns aren't rocket scientists in the real world, and for them, the internet is a tool for them to be something they are not, and so it allow's them to escape their pathetic little existance, and hide behind a keyboard and act like tough guys when they are not.. Its a shame, and so why I feel sorry for them..

you should buy everyone cigars for everyone on the boards after hearing this news. did you buy him his racquet yet? my son turns 3 in January and I found out my local indoor tennis facility offers a program for 3 1/2 year olds, so next fall my little guy is gonna hit some tennis balls!

I have reported posts related to the Monica Seles incident and I think that is one you should be watching out for. You don't need to be Freud to understand exactly what the motivation is for continually rehashing that event and to see that the poster(s) in question are getting a particularly sick and unnatural thrill out of being able to repeat the same phrases over and over again, then see them in print. Goes into a very creepy area that I would prefer wasn't allowed to exist on the message board.

She uses the Prince Air Sharepova 25? I think.. Anyway, she wanted it because it was pink.. She's got the hitting down (currently two hands on both sides because she hasn't the strength) but she is desperately trying to hit one handed both sides.. She drags me out the door and just loves her tennis..

That must be really cool. There's this guy coach in the tennis tips section that is very much in favour of the 2 handed forehand and backhand, so maybe a change isn't that much in need.

Agreed, I don't mind either way in all honesty. And as long as she has an interest, she will have a coach in me.. If its not her thing, then we will see what else she likes.. But she tells all the kids at her kindy that she is a tennis player.. Gotta love that.. She has her own bag that we pack together and so she takes it really seriously.. Kinda bizaar in a way, but I am having a blast with her enthusiasm..

Gotta smoke that cigar! My brothers got me a Cuban cigar (Fidel's favorite one..can't think of the name) and we smoked them up nice.

That's terrific. Its so nice when your child takes an interest in what you love. Makes your relationship that much more special.

But Sharapova...c'mon Chris. There are lots of Pink racquet w/out Sharapova associated with it.

Maybe you could help me with this. A friend of mine in Hong Kong wants to send me a small gift package full of Chinese snacks/chocolates. We are concerned about exporting food (not perishables). Is it illegal to send Japanese type snacks to Australia?
