Roddick vs. Federer

This IMO is Roddick's best chance ever to beat Fed, Roddick looks refreshed after his little break, and Fed looks crap.

Hopefully Roddick will beat Fed, and Gonzo will go though, then we will have Roddick vs.Nadal and Ferrer vs. Gonze for the semi's.

What are your thought's for Roddick/Federer tomorrow??

2:0
Federer, of course...

Federer will probably gut out an ugly 2-1 set win. He is playing poorly right now but his pride will not let him lose to Roddick. He will also want to play Nadal in the semis I am guessing.

Gonzo played lights-out tennis against Federer, and then turned up still hung over against Roddick. And for those that don't believe that, then watch these highlights:

That second time Gonzo falls over is hilarious in slow motion! (sorry it doesn't show the bit where Gonzo hit a lines-person with his racquet).

....and yet Fed was able to beat Davy easily in straights, but Davy took a set off a nervy Roddick.

You are certainly right in saying Gonzalez played not near the level vs Roddick that he did vs Federer. However Davydenko was also playing much worse vs Federer then he did vs Roddick. Yet the differences between the 2 combinations of matches were much more in Roddick's favor if you look at it like that.

I honestly think Roddick is playing the stronger tennis right now. Roger's pride to win that match and meet up with Nadal is the only reason he will win it probably.

There is no real insentive for Roddick to beat Federer though. If Roddick beat Federer then he has to play Nadal next, if not then it is Ferrer. Roddick would probabely have a better chance against Ferrer than Nadal.

How about finally beating his nemisis, the man whom he's been trying to figure out for the last four years and who has inflicted so many painful and humiliating defeats on him, plus the huge psychological boost of beating the world number one, and removing the guy you'd least like to meet in the final over 5 sets...?

I love Roger but I think its Andy's time for a win. Like others have said and we have all seen Roger is not playing at his best and Andy really looks good. Think of the USO this year and the 7-6,7-6,6-2 match. Andy didnt look as fit or sharp then as he does now and Fed looks even worse.

My bonehead prediction for the finals: Roddick - Ferrer, Roddick win 2:0.

Before Paris & Madrid, it would have been like 90/10 in favour of Federer. Now, after 2 losses to Nalbandian & a recent loss to Gonzo & the way both have been playing in this tournament, I'd put it 65/35 (of course still in Federer favour).

Wishful thinking on my part...but I sure hope that Fed wipes the court with Roddick...a quick, painful loss...something like say....6-1 6-0
Yes, I'm a dreamer;) But it could happen

This will be like the AO when Federer won a set losing only 6 points in total.

If Federer comes up with a performance like that then it really will be time for us to bow down at worship at his knees because recent form from both players suggests thats not the kind of result we should expect. I am happy Roddick is through but I want Roger through as well so any win for him will do for me

Yet again. A build up of a Roddick vs Fed match. I hope it finally lives up. I know I'll be up watching. I do enjoy a Roddick falter, however i recently heard that during the Gonzo match Fed mouthed off to the ump. Non-tennis people were talking about it during lunch at my office. Anyone have a clip or seen it to clarify?

Andy is not capable of playing any better then he did in that U.S Open match.

True but Im not saying he needs to. In fact I think he could play slightly worse and still have a good shot at winning because Rogers game is down several levels from the norm.

Yeah I think it will be a long battle for Federer, but I think he's still got the edge over Roddick, thogh I would live to see Roddock take it all the way.

i agree. i think the reason he is winning his matches is because his opponents have not been playing up to par. i do think however that he has a slight chance (which is better than no chance like in their previous encounters) to take fed in three. he has improved his backhand a bit and in his match with davydenko he was hitting some DTL. i hate seeing fed winning everything but not as much as i hate seeing andy winning anything, so Fed all the way!

On top of everything already mentioned, with Davydenko's performance so far, Roddick is rapidly closing the 400 pt gap for #4, a critical spot for Roddick to ensure avoiding Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic until the semis in Australia. He'll want the 100 pts.

If Roddick wins a set but loses, he still gets the 1st seed out of the group due to percentage of sets won, so he would play Nadal in the semis. I don't think anyone wants to play Ferrer right now. He has the same mojo going that Nalbandian had.

150 pts for the winner of this tourney. Ferrer if he wins is in 4th place. Roddick would still be 5th. I think there is less than 150 pts separating Ferrer, Roddick, and Davydenko.
