Fish needs tlc's what not to wear

I know Fish has been doing it for a while but I just watched him recently and he needs to change his outfit or something. The thing about his outfit that really bugs me is his no socks look. It is terrible! He has no calf muscles so he shouln't of even attempted to pull it off. The last complaint is his K-swiss clothes. I bet he gets pretty good money for endorsing them and all but the clothes are not that great looking...especially on him.

Does anybody else feel the same way I do? If so please speak up!

I feel the same way you do about everything you've stated above.

I hate no-show or even low socks. Real men should wear crew socks. Leave those low socks for the ladies to show off their long legs.

And those K-Swiss shirts that Fish has been wearing just have a really ugly design. He needs some better looking designs.

Oh, and why does he wear shorts that look like they are two sizes too big for him?

I think he's a self-actualized guy >>>

I met him when he was 17 yrs. old a friend of my nephew and never even said he played tennis or had ambitions to play in the pro-ranks. you play tennis in those outfits and who really cares what they look like ; all you do is play tennis in them.

give him a break , he is just playing tennis, he may not like the outfit that k swiss provides him but he still has to endorse them

He doesn't have to in general. No one held a gun to his head and said "sign this endorsement deal, damn you, or die!" However, under contract he might not have much choice.

My only advice would be to forget about the no-show socks and wear some crews. I used to do the no-show socks thing as a junior and am embarrased about it. I wish I could've given myself the same advice back then. He'd look fine with some crews.

First he needs to deal w/ the sock issue. Then, shave that embarrassing wanna-be beard. It makes him look like a homeless guy. If he took care of those two things, his clothes wouldn't be so bad. Right now they just exacerbate the problem.

You guys complaining about ankle socks must be old.
Old people shouldn't comment on fashion.
Everybody wears ankle socks nowadays.
More tennis players should start wearing them.
Crew socks are for fools.

I think it is the Kswiss design on his shirts. I've seen Haas and Courier wearing the same design and it looks bad on them as well.

First time I've ever seen you troll on a non fed/nadal thread. Glad to see you're expanding your horizons.

Wow, what on Earth are you talking about?
You think that when somebody disagrees with you on something as minor as sock fashion that they're trolling?
That was seriously one of the most pathetic things I've seen written on here.

I can promise you that very few people under 25 wear crew socks with shorts in everyday life.

LMFAO, I'm 37 and I'll wear no-show socks on occasion - usually in the heat of the summer playing at the park. Beats having the crew sock tan line. For matches I'll usually wear quarter socks, but indoors in the winter I do wear regular crews.

I do agree about Fish's look; don't know why a pro would wear ankle socks unless he wants to play in what he practices in. I actually like the K-Swiss gear. What don't you guys like about the K-Swiss clothes?

I've known Mardy for a while and the low socks thing has been his style for ever. He and I grew up playing together in Minnesota. I don't think that sock thing is going to change. He sports the low cut socks even when he plays basketball.

You didn't disagree. You made some goofy comment about old people talking about fashion, and then you said that anybody who doesn't wear short socks is a fool.

Why, oh why did I reply to one of your posts? I know better.

I don't mind the wanna-beard. I did it during winning streaks in college. I thought it was cool on Borg and Becker, and mine got less and less patchy after freshman year.

The socks. Yeah, I'm not a fan, either. I think that's a middle-class American golf influence. And probably a Florida thing...heat and humidity while trying to mitigate the ridiculous sock tan.

I prefer a crew sock pushed down. I wear two pairs so it end up looking a little 80's-ish, like Lleyton Hewitt. Rafa does it, too, but he folds them down. Too OCD. But better than the no-shows, imho.

K-SWISS clothing: not a fan. I get why people eschew adidas and the evil swoosh. But Sergio Tacchini, FILA, Diadora and many other brands make better stuff.

The Learning Channel and shows like What not to Wear:
weak.

Mardy Fish's tennis: streaky at best. I will admit, it's pretty impressive how he gets away with not being 'superfit' at this level -- a testament to his ball-striking ability and his willingness to play attacking tennis.

I'm with you, OP. It's all bad. Fish needs a full-on intervention.

Shave, grow the hair back. Do some crunches, lose the K-Swiss, and yeah socks too.

I don't know what you guys are thinking with the crew socks. I think they look terrible. No shows or low socks definitely look better. I'm surprised somebody didn't say that we should all go back to wearing long pants and sweaters when we play.

I think his biggest problem is that his clothes are just too big--he always looks pretty sloppy. Roddick and Safin also wear clothes that are too big for them.

Again I'm in the minority but I much prefer both the look and fit of low/no show socks. Crews make you look like you are back in the 70's or something. I don't see hardly anyone in my area that wears crew's.

If I see my opponent wearing no-show or low cut socks, psychologically speaking, it'll give me an edge before a single point is played. Here's the reason why I say this (and this is just me, I'm not trying to put anyone down here).

I'll think of my opponent as someone who wants to make his legs look attractive. I'll think futhermore that he wants to shave his legs. I'll think that he isn't here fully ready to compete; rather his mind is more preoccupied on looking good. He's not a grinder.

On the other hand, if my competition comes to the court with crews -- more than that, two pairs pulled up all the way -- for some reason I naturally start thinking: this guy is serious about his tennis; he's serious about winning; he's here to beat me.

The psychological, mental game is very important and perhaps this is one element among others which should be considered.

I think Fish would create a stronger, bolder impression of himself just by wearing crews.

I say this admitting that I too wore no-shows as a junior. My dad would tell me that I looked like a girl. Now I agree with him. And now in my thirties I show up ready to compete and to win -- my crews and my hairly legs.

Why do you think they pay him to wear the clothes? They want people to buy them. But if it looks so bad on him, who would want to buy them? Then where's the money going to come from to pay him?

I hate no-show or even low socks. Real men should wear crew socks. Leave those low socks for the ladies to show off their long legs.

No-shows really aren't a fashion thing for me or most people. Crews are usually thicker and therefore retain heat. We (younger guys) like the no-shows because they breathe a helluva lot better, especially during the Chicago summer. The only real exception for me is playing on clay. I wear whatever long socks I can find to keep the dirt from getting in my ankles and causing pain when moving.

Hmmm...the photo below seems to contradict your statements.

That photo can't be that old because Fish used to wear Nike before the Adidas.

I wear nike crew socks everyday with shorts, pants, dress cloths. I'm 15, so do 95% of my tennis playing friends

I am 17 and i wear crew socks everywhere for every outfit. I only know some people that can really pull of the no-show socks on the tennis court and they have really athletic looking legs which mardy lacks.

I asked my wife last night about the no show socks Fish wears, by the way she is a big Fish fan, and she said he doesn't have the legs to wear those. The socks made him look like he has bird legs.

What kind of legs do you need to pull the low sock look off? I don't really get it. Pete Sampras is totally solid, and he even looks odd...like a middle-aged golfer in them.

My ankles are thick and my calves are very large, and I'm told I look solid with or without socks. I just prefer the feel of the crew, even in the summer.

As much as I don't wear the no-show socks, I also never really understood a guy like Goran or Rusedski (bot tall, thin guys) pulling UP on their crew socks every few points. Nervous tick, I guess.

I wear crews, pushed down sort of like Rafa.

I mean in his everyday life he's always prefered the low cut (hardly noticible) socks. Maybe Adidas didn't provide him with low cut socks- I don't know why he's rockin the crew socks here. Find some pics of him playing tennis when he was younger and you'll see the low socks.

not true, most of the guys at my high school wear either nike or under armour black crew socks with shorts (preferably with air maxs)

also, it seems to me that older people, 30+ years old, are the ones that thinks crews look worse

Of all the things people "argue" about, I never would have guessed socks would be on the agenda.

shorter players can pull off the no-show or ankle socks..in fact, it looks better on them.

taller players, e.g. sampras, needs to sport the classic crew socks. moreover, sampras needs to sport his traditional white tennis clothes and crews.

I agree that his shirts are usually unattractive, but disagree on the socks. I think they look fine.

For all the other dudes out there who have hair on their legs, doesn't it itch when your socks are high enough to cover the lower part of your leg? To me they itch, and itch bad. Business socks are even worse for me.

Nobody else has this problem?
