i hate bookies..soderling is said to have less chance than both murray and djokovic. i could see why for djokovic, but come on, murray has a better chance than he does? did they NOT watch this year's tournament? murray lost to gonzo in 4 sets in the quarters, and Soderling BEAT Nadal in 4 in the fourth round!
i really don't see nadal winning this year. i expect him to go out to a big hitter in the quarters, possibly Cilic, Del Potro, or maybe soderling again. They've figured him out on the surface now.
of course, if he manages to change his game plan against these guys enough that he starts beating them again, my opinions may change. but right now, his vulnerability on all surfaces to these guys is a glaring one.

To the bolded part-Precisely.
The thing with Nadal so far is that there is always a part of the season during which he kind of struggles.This year the patch came early with Nadal performing well above his usual standards in the first part of the season.
That said he would still be the best bet to win the French Open,thats for sure.

I honestly dont think he will win it in 2010, neither will Federer,he might aswell go out early in 2010, i mean job is done,case closed! Lots of players have showed lately that they can beat him (not on clay but anyway) so i think they will bring that knowledge into the claycourt-game aswell, i definetely see someone pulling a "Soderling" against Nadal, playing out of their own league, transing as we say in Sweden. I think Soderling did the rest of the ATP-guys a huge favour. And i think guys like Del Potro and Cilic have raised their games even more comes the FO.

maybe because he would rather beat him at the French open in a best of 5 set match, where it really counts? seriously, that's a pathetic argument. was nadal injured as well when he lost 2,2, and 2 to del potro? was he injured when he lost to Cilic in Beijing? how about when he lost to Davydenko in Shanghai? was he "injured" those times as well?

Nadal is the King of Clay, but I have the feeling his clay domination came to an end. Soldering defeated him in 2009, and any of the big hitters will defeat him in 2010. I love Nadal's passion for the sport, but he is only human. He is not a machine and let's not forget how much the French actually hate him........... I forsee him going after USO and Wimby in 2010.

Correction, he has been injured since World War I during his first life. In this war, he suffered a bullet wound to one knee, and scrapnel to another. He died a hero years later, but due to his injuies, never able to fulfill his life dream of one day playing professional. He was re-incaranted, and now those old war-wounds are re-surfacing.

He is possibly the best clay court player ever (one or two other candidates spring to mind), so to be so simplistic as to say he will go out to "a big hitter" seems short-sighted at best.
He has to have a very bad day at the office to lose at Roland Garros. I don't think it will happen two years running.

Rafael nadal will reach the final but I would want him to lose yhe final to either Novak, Federer, andy french player or Soderling who makes it there.
Rafael Nadal will lose the french open for a while but come back to winning it. Borg won french twice then lost to Andriano Pannata twice in the french after that. And after that he won 4 french opens. So maybe soderling will beat nadal again and claim his only grand slam. Then nadal begins to dominata again.

But its hard to play good when you are being pushed around from side to side with no mercy for 4 hours! There wasnt much he could do in all fairness.

Soderling played a tremendous match when he beat Nadal at the French, he was also fortunate that the clay was faster this year than in other years, and that Nadal's forehands were dropping short.

He wont dominate it. He might win it again but Federer, Djokovic, and Del Potro are all very capable of winning next years French too. You will not see anything close to 2008 again. Next year will be a barnburner.
