I"m in SanPablo.
Halfway would be somewhere around SanMateo, if I'm correct.
My van gets 9mpg, plus a SIX dollar bridge. From SanPablo to bridge is 8 miles. Bridge is 9 miles. Going tru SF to SanMateo about 20 miles.
So you guys want a guy who makes $4,000 anually to drive about 80 miles, or 7.5 gallons of gas at $4.00 a gallon, PLUS 6 dollar bridge to play some tennis on Monday? It's been raining all day today Sunday, and forecasts are cloudy and raining all week.
Heck, I work 2 hours gardening to make $30.

TonLars, if you are coming to Illinois at anytime, I'd love to watch you play. Didn't you mention one in Downer's Grove?

I'm currently a student so I know what it's like to not have money. I will drive pass the bridge that way I will pay the 6 dollar toll fee but that's as far as I will go.

SuperDuy, did you hear any rumors of a tremor in Japan?
US StateDept is discouraging any travel to Japan.
USDA is telling all it's employees to stay our to Japan.
ONE USDA employee left for Indo yesterday, then on to Taiwan, then to Japan in two weeks.
NO, she's still here.

A tremor? Thats putting it very lightly haha How about a 9.0 earthquake, huge tsunami, thousands dead and 2 nuclear power plants on the brink of meltdown.

Decision had to be made by Sat. morning.
Japanese on the other side, 300 miles S of Tokyo, responded to come, no damage in their area. They sent message by a complicated backup communications system, since their internet, cell phones, fax, or other normal communications was disrupted.
What do you think, given the time frame for final decision was Sat. morning.

PR would cost me price of airlines, which is close to $500, and I have to bring kiteboarding gear, as I have no windsurf gear there.
My retirement doesn't give me a check until April20. It's been raining every week for a day or 2, mostly when I"m scheduled to garden. No gardening in the rain, so I've been making less than 1/2 my usual big dollars. My usual big dollars is right around $60 a week.
Ever try to keep a g/f with $60 a week? That includes every breakfast and some dinners, and some entertainment money to boot.
DonaldTrump, please consider helping.

S'all a matter of perception.
Back in school, I played one season of baseball, two track, 5 basketball, and 3 football.
I surfed thru 35, raced roadracing two seasons, motocross 4 years, shot PPC and IPSC pistol, currently been windsurfing for 27 years, kiteboarded one, and the idea of being a tennis coach just doesn't seem right.

you said it yourself... just a matter of perception.

the idea doesn't sound right, but what is that you think you are doing with giving technical advices here?

you are already doing it. for free.

why not pick up the $60/hour.

I like the idea of FREE.
I give windsurfing, surfing, motocross, and skiing/snowboarding advice for free all the time.
I got decent at those sports partly by getting free advice, so I should pass the buck down to a future generation just like I got it...for free.
Heck, I ASK for advice all the time concerning building construction, usually get it for free, so I"m not one to need to profit from advice.

You are broke and give advice all the time. It is not out of line to finally get compensated for it. Free advice is not as valued as when someone pays for it anyway. Once you assign monetary value to your teaching in person you will find that people will listen a lot more.

Sure, but not a good time to decide to play tennis, with rain most likely all week.
Next week, I start to demolish our kitchen....all walls, ceiling, floors, counters, cabinets, countertops, the whole shebang. Might be a little busy.
This week, I have time Wed, but rain, Thurs but rain, Friday but rain. Sat. I work at CalAdventures.
Don't know of any courts in Hayward, never played there.

"hot lunch in school"....
Hmm.... seems I remember 3rd thru 6th in the cafeteria.
7th grade and new school, never, so never 8th and 9th.
From then on, I'd walk the 3 blocks to the local Deli or TennesseeGrill to buy lunch.

Heading to RoseGarden in about 10 minutes. Need to bring my van in case there's any late afternoon rain. Might bring one of the 200's.
The reason I never maintained any good level of tennis is that I never wanted to call up buds for tennis or make appointments. I've been a surfer since 1964, and as such, hate preplanned events.
Life should be about ad lib and instantaneous decisions.....:)

talking about 'hate preplanned events'.... that is actually the biggest turn off for me to join any leagues/ tournaments.

other than the playing/travel time of 2 hours minimum, it feels like you have to plan your life around tennis.

tennis should fit into life, not the other way around... I can go have a hit for 1 hour in the morning, and if during anytime of the day I FEEL LIKE to have another hit, I shoot off 2-3 text messages, and whoever responds first gets the prize.

with kids, wifey, job, golf, a house, 2 cars and all the other crap.... who has time for tournament.

I"m not the one wanting to post my vid, other's do.
I do schedule meetings with inspectors and contractors, and actually show up on time.
Next 2 weeks, a contractor is coming in to rewire the house, add a subpanel, and supervise my destruction of our entire kitchen down to stud walls, joists and rafters, then a complete rebuild.

You seem to always include statements that have nothing to do with the subject at hand. It seems like you always have an excuse as well.
