It's really difficult to say with just that video. I really don't especially like either his forehand or backhand. IMO there's not enough of a backswing on either one so I think he's going to struggle with generating power and hurting players that can handle pace. He kind of appears to be pushing the ball a bit.

That said he's appears to be hitting the ball well. He's obviously got some skills. Personally I'd need to see his serve and watch him play a few points. Some volleys would be nice too.

Sorry.

He isn't going to look as good since he is just warming up/light hitting. From just the video you can tell that if he was going all out he would be a 6.0+... Plus, who is a 5.0 and has a coach watching him.

Don't respond 2.0 club players have those. If you can't tell the difference between a 2.0 and that guy..well idk what to say

This guy is easily 6.0, 6.5. Until you see how bad you are on video (speaking from personal experience) it is hard to appreciate guys who look good on video.

So now we have his serve, his forehand, and his backhand. All we're missing is his mentality. Come back with that.

Also, the last 2 seconds scared me.

trust me, the other vid I was thinking of [of a different player] was a teensy bit scarier, and the scariness was a few minutes long 0.0

actually, too much give-away, even on the page where the video is displayed.

a 'better' way to do this, would be to make a replica of the video, and rename it like 'Manus Domini forehand' or something.

And watch all the 4.0 ratings come in! hahahahaha.

I don't know how :(

I would normally have said 5.0-5.5 but after seeing a video of Kei Nishikori warming up and practicing, I realized that not all amazing tennis players come across that way in a slow practice session.

So definitely 6.0+

(That point that shows him serving pretty much proves it's a very high level, just based on the speed of the point...)

He is warming up in a stadium w/ a coach watching. He is better than most. In golf, we'd call this guy a pro or a scratch golfer and nobody would care about anything afterwards!

Well I recognize the name, so obviously he's 6.0+

That being said, it's really hard to determine NTRP above 5.0 when:

a) The player is only hitting/moving at 50% effort

AND

b) The player is just hitting, not playing points

From the first video of a couple warm up strokes, all you can say is 5.0+ since he's not doing anything competitive. How can anyone assess that? In the second video of a whole competitive point, it's clear he is a pro, so 6.5-7.0.

if we use ATP standard, he looks like someone 6 ft, 156 lbs, ranked ~80 to me.

In TW world, he will be lucky to get a few games from a weak 3.5.

tennis sukks... only made $244k / year before expenses... this is only a fraction of what 'bossman' in Manhattan can make

Considering that was filmed at the Barcelona Open BancSabadell. I recognized that court right away cause I've been there, he's got a coach behind him and is practicing during an ATP 500 tournament, the answer is quite obvious.

hmm ima say uk 6.1 or 5.2, so itn conversion would say 4.0 or 4.5

edit watched nsecond video to get a better idea probably closer to 5.1 4.2, or 4.5-5.0

Yeaaaahhh..Uk rating the guy is 1.1. NTRP 7.0. Although both are pointless ratings because his ranking says it all!!!

I love how some people rate players!!!

Cheers

Ash

how can anyone not see a pro when he is right in front of them?

seriously, manus, that one is too easy.

be more fun to find some dude in board shorts having a hit on some beach side run down court and use that.

(I say this as there is a vid of a a long haired Pat Cash playing in southern france in about 1995 somewhere, I just couldn't quickly find it. I bet they'd rate him a 4.0!)

If there ever was a way to measure how much people really know about tennis on this forum, just put up a bunch of 'rate this player' threads and it'll become clear. Dozu's idea is post videos, but that just shows how well a player can play, which doesn't give too much insight about the poster. These rate a player threads are a laugh I gotta say.
