Read the article, he sites having an injured wrist while playing Tsonga, and etc. Sure looks like an excuse as to why he lost, otherwise why even mention it?

I wasn't aware he lost to Tsonga at the US Open. LOL. He didn't mention it about his match with Djokovic, the guy he lost to. HMMM.

Obviously if he says he got injured while playing Tsonga, and then played Novak, and didn't play some tournaments afterwards because of the injury... he's implying he was injured while playing Novak.

Who said he lost to Tsonga at USO? He said he injured it playing Tsonga, then he had to play Novak the next match. Saying he was injured before the match, can you understand that?

But wouldn't he have said that was a factor? He was only mentioning why he didnt play the Asian swing, not offering an excuse as to why he failed to win matchpoints against Djokovic. Jackson_vile is just looking for any reason he can find to criticize federer, including coming up with excuses because the guy offered a reason for not jam-packing his autumn schedule.

I can understand fine. You're the one who brought up using it as an excuse for a loss.

I'm really not saying that Fed was trying to excuse his loss to Novak... but if I wanted to be ridiculously biased against him as many here are against Rafa, I could surely claim that he's making excuses, is a sore loser, etc., etc. There's not more basis for saying Rafa makes excuses than exactly this kind of thing.

And that is the point, further more to point out other fallacies such as "Federer is never injured due to his style... this or that..."

It's false, he has plenty of injuries and sicknesses throughout his career. The only difference is that any time Novak or Nadal is injured ****s jump all over it and document each and every coinsurance and exaggerate.

There is no way for anyone at the level to play like that for that long and be injury free. Reminds me of all the Ronald Reagan claims of how he is short of Jesus, however when you look at the history Reagan had more year raising taxes than cutting, and that he raised the US debt more than Bill Clinton and other democrats LOL

Citing wrist injury, thigh injury, and ankle injury. Don't forget the tired groin thing, or was it a strain?

Sounds a lot like some other players I know LOL

If people don't want to know the answer to the question 'Were you injured?' then why is the question asked? I don't know the man personally, but my best guess would say he didn't call the press conference and didn't tell the press what q's they could and couldn't ask. Not like some movie stars do. Sheesh.

Easily we can same the same for Nadal, Novak, etc can't we, yet they don't receive your kindness here do they?

Oh Jeez.. it's end of December; old season is over, new one about to begin and this is all jackson vile can dredge up to pass the time? You really need to volunteer to go to Somalia and do some work that will keep your mind and body rewardingly occupied - and make you feel better about yourself

You're taking this a bit too seriously! :) ;)

Sorry, I didn't see where you were asking about either of them in this post. My apologies.

That is the point of all my posts, they sensationalize so I take it a step further to on the other side. They don't like it when you use the same tactics as they do.

Federer HAS to cite injury to skip these tourneys he made a commitment to. It's called scheduling. He and the tournament have a face to lose if he doesn't show up for no good reason. Nadal isn't criticized for that. He, but more so, his fans, are criticized for citing injury for every match he loses. If you play, you are fit to play, the match counts, is legit etc. etc. Fed had mono in 2008? Yes he did, but he played, so he was there to be beaten and was beaten. Fair and square. If you play you're fit. i think Roger and Rafa both know that, but most Rafa fans don't seem to get the idea.

Some people seem to have a hard time too distinguishing between Rafa and (some of) his fans.

Herein lies the difference between Federer and Nadal. Federer injures his wrist against Tsonga and makes not one iota of a mention of it after the loss to Djoker. Conversely, Nadal would have had a press conference about it before the match and reiterated it over and over in the post match interview

Sounds a bit paranoid to me. But fair to be warned that the point of all your posts is to sensationalize and take it one step further.

What a crybaby, this Roger. Making excuses for matches he didn't play !!!!

Sure. He should come to the tournament, get the meal tickets and hotel refund, and retire proudly and with a lot of dignity. Like Djokovic. Claiming a sore throat, a gluten poisoning, pimpled butt, general constipation and brain-farting. Also he should say that he was fully in control of a match regardless of being 2 sets down or not playing that match at all.

Perhaps he didn't play the Asian swing for reasons not mentioned...country (DC tie in Oz) and family. Or, even, wise strategy prevailed...resting at home with his family, closer to his next tourney sites. Kinda worked out, no?

The PR machine wants words, words, words and they all have little to do with reality. Fed sticks to the same formulae and people parse it for some new angle that really doesn't exist.

The man says nothing with style and panache and can do it in several languages without being either bored or annoyed - a champion, indeed!

Federer's worst interview to date has got to be when he got smashed in Wimbledon-clay court tennis vs Berdych 2010...

Q. You beat him almost every time you played him. Was he any different?
ROGER FEDERER: ... I'm unhappy with the way I'm playing. You know, I am struggling with a little bit of a back and a leg issue. That just doesn't quite allow me to play the way I would like to play.

Q. How do those physical things affect you the most?
ROGER FEDERER: Well, when you're hurting, it's just a combination of many things. You know, you just don't feel as comfortable. You can't concentrate on each and every point because you do feel the pain sometimes. Quarters is a decent result. Obviously people think quarters is shocking, but people would die to play in quarterfinal stages of Grand Slam play.

Q. What concern do you have that the injuries will linger?
ROGER FEDERER: Not much of a concern.

Q. I wonder if you think this might be [Murray] year, given some of the really threatening players haven't been doing so well this year.
ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I mean, true, Rafa played terribly lately; Soderling is not a threat either. He's got an easy ride to this victory, that's for sure. Djokovic can't play tennis anymore it seems like.

...
Apart from the last answer, it all seems relatively OK albeit it quite odd and random things he said during that interview. Body language and tears with hat over face kinda reflected that.

Don't you realize that Federer was mocking a stupid question. I'll even explain why this question was stupid: Rafa did very well that year, Soderling got to RG final for the second time which is his best result so far, Djokovic got to all the slam semifinals played by that time. All the threatening players were in good shape and doing extremely well. Once again a journo didn't do his homework.

It wasn't necessarily a stupid question, but Fed just didnt feel like giving a normal answer, so he mocked the journalist who was hoping for some reply on that Murray of course has a good chance.

Interesting.

Problem is however that if Fed doesn't have an easy style of play (compared to say Nadal) how come according to you he's still playing as good as ever at the age of 30 while Nadal has declined at the age of 24 ?

Does Fed have superior genes maybe ? I mean I can see no other explanation for Fed playing so amazing at the age of 30 while Nadal has declined and is playing uninspired tennis at the age of 24.

Now to the topic at hand. How come according to *you* Fed doesn't have a style of play that is easy on the body compared to Rafa yet he's playing as good as ever at the age of 30 while Nadal has declined and is playing uninspiring/flat tennis at the age of 24-25.

Looks like we can add yet another with he back used for 6 or 7 times now. These guys really need to stop making excuses, if you lose you lose. Just leave it at that, it is so bad now that every player has some kind of excuse injury going into each slam, how pathetic is that?
