Do women not realise than ragging on doesn't help?

I live next door to a couple in their mid 30s with a young kid.

I know him better than I know her, and he's a really pleasant guy - really friendly, helpful, lends me his tools, high powered lawn mower etc etc, all that good neighbourly stuff.

Recently he was made redundant so has been more time at home. Since then, all I hear is her barking every few days, arguments and her screaming at him. He recently sheepish admitted that she's not happy that he doesn't have a job. Every time I see her now she's got an expression like she's just bitten into a lemon.

Support your man, you silly bint! Barking doesn't help! It just makes the situation worse.

Do you not realise that maybe they have a better feel for their relationship than you do? She might have a very good reason for yelling at him like she does that has nothing to do with his job situation.

And yes, I think people should support their significant others, but only within reason.

Usually if a woman is yelling at a man, the man has made the decision to allow it.
A real man won't stand for it. You have to let them know what's acceptable and unacceptable, and getting yelled at every day is unacceptable.

Do you even know what a woman looks like?

^^He feels guilty.

Women just want security ... emotional and financial. Missing either and they can become like the one described. Of course, that works against the relationship in the end. Good luck to him.

Unless they are close friends of yours, I would refrain from passing judgment.

Relationships are too complex for someone not intimately involved to interject what they think is right or wrong.

She's b*tching at him because he loans all their high priced stuff to their deadbeat neighbor (who never returns it).

"You go over there and tell him its your god-damned mower and for him to give it the f*** back NOW".

Actually, as they'll soon be splitting everything, he should start hiding things over at your place.

Can't you see? *He* drove her to it. He drove her completely crazy with his no-account, no-good, good-for-nothing ways.

She was young and beautiful once. He promised her the moon. She gave him the best years of her life, and for what? He does nothing, you hear me, nothing!! He doesn't lift a finger with the house or the kids, and he doesn't even work. Look at him sitting there in his own filth, for God's sake!! LOOK AT HIM!!!!!!

I at least give my wife a choice between the bony side or the meaty side of the hand. J/K of course. :)

Tell me about it. A wife of my friend spends more time on the phone complaining about her husband with her relatives and her friends than with him. Heck, that same girl complained about my relationship with my fiancee even after I gave her $40 in calling cards which she used up very quickly. Complaining about my being cheap even though she didn't get those cards from her husband? I was trying to be nice and sympathetic (I've known my friend over 10 years and she came from another country to be with him), but she wants to play the victim, yet rag on him behind his back. Granted he complains behind her back too.

Bad enough this woman and her good friend (who I know likes me) both would like my engagement to fall apart. The friend's wife for a couple of years has wanted me to meet up with her friend and/or her cousin. And the other woman I think would salivate if I was single (she's cool, but not physically my type until/unless she loses the spare tire). Sorry, but they can exclude me from the "Waiting to Exhale" club.

When your married friends are arguing, get the heck out of the way. You can give advice, but don't recommend anything.

You don't think losing your job is a situation 'within reason' that calls for support rather shouting?

It depends on the circumstances. Was he laid off as a result of downsizing, or was he fired because he was incompetent?

That's my point: You don't know the circumstances. You know a slight bit from one of the parties involved, yet you've made judgment calls on everyone involved. I'm guessing she knows quite a bit more than you.

Ooops. Sorry for being serious.

She will soon be residing comfortably in a plastic bag in their storage freezer.

Come to think of it, I've still got a couple of their Blu-rays.

(I'd give them back but have you seen the price of these things compared to normal DVDs???)

Does she happen to do this four or five days in a row about the same time every month?
If yes, it’s normal. It’s how nature punishes men for all the bad deeds we didn’t do.

Two mistakes:

Her for marrying someone that she was going to "change" (through nagging). Lesson you can't change people.

Him for not providing for his family.

I love how people are ripping on a couple they've never seen or met based on the 3rd person account their friend gave on a tennis forum.
Then again who am I to judge?

Third person accounts don't always tell the true story. If you've heard from both why they complain, you might get a clearer picture. For all we know, this nice guy might be having some other fetishes or strange habits behind the scenes. The girl just might be a whiny psycho that doesn't get the love and attention she craves. Who really knows?

Still, arguing about petty things constantly is going to cause one to drift away from the other. So they had better grow up, talk constructively, and find solutions or else it's divorce court... or time on Maury.

There are two types of women in the world. Those that need to change their man, and those that accept their man for who he is.

I will let you draw your own conclusion about who is better to be with.

It wasn't his idea to get canned from his job. Btw, he too was once "young & beautiful."

".....in good times BUT NOT in bad, for richer BUT NOT poorer, NOT in sickness but ONLY in health...till death do you part?

It's called a vow.

No one with a shred of compassion should be abusively treating their spouse this way and on a REGULAR basis no less...

That.
Is.
Abuse.

SHE deserves better? I dunno, but I think that poor sap sure as hell does.

"....by the power invested in me by the great State of Intoxication, I now pronounce you throughly 'p-whipped'....you may now ignore the bride."

After living a few years, I find generally, women tend to be more vocal, while lots of guys keep it inside.
Consider, if you are more vocal, and also less physically intimidating, why not use your god given voice to push your point across?
I haven't had a g/f who was less vocal than myself, so that's based on my experience, and what I see in other people.

Thank you feminism for destroying our culture. You have done it and we are all just as miserable as you feminist are now.

It started with Star Trek Voyager; please tell me how on earth can a woman be the captain of a star ship let alone be able to safely drive a car ?

...how does treating a woman like a human being destroy culture?

this thread isnt about mistreating women at all. Its about how men and women no longer understand how to treat each other because gender roles have been destroyed. women and men have different strengths and weaknesses. Instead of embracing these things we had done for thousands of years a few group of feminists decided to change it and this thread is a perfect example of how people are not happy with how things are.

I am all for the good treatment of women. Call me traditional but I believe a good woman stands behind her man and there when things are down to provide him with support. just like a good man supports his woman and provides for her.

I agree with others that someone can't really make a judgement call if they don't know all the information.

With that being said, why do so many (not all, but quite a few) women want equal rights only when it is beneficial to them. That's something I never really understood: women are all for equality except when they are dating/in a relationship. In that case, the man should pay for/do everything. What, they only want equal rights when it's convenient? That's not equality, that's just foolishness. Again though, not all women, so please don't freak out on me if this does not include you/your friends/whomever.

You attributed the destruction of culture to feminism, and feminism is the simple yet radical belief that a woman is a person. I was questioning that, is all.

Personally, I believe a good couple stands next to each other, not one behind the other.

Worse, they actually are allowed to give birth to children. That is just too much! Men should do everything.

I disagree, a good woman should always be five meters in front of her man to trigger bombs, booby traps, ambushes, etc....

If feminism was only about treating women like people it wouldn't be as controversial as it is. Some feminists have a lot more baggage than this.

Feminism is only about a woman being treated like a human being. Unfortunately, there are many (on both sides) who use it to further their own agendas, as is the case with nearly all "-ism"s. There's simply no other belief you have to hold to be a feminist.
