any Retail that comes close to Pro Stock frames?

Are there any Retail raquets that come close to the ones Pro players are using ? (i.e Wilson's H22, H19, Head's TGK 238.1, PT57A)

Anyone that have hit with prostock frames, which retail frame do you think comes cloes in performance?

I tend to like the feel of flexier frames more than the stiff ones, but it's also ok for me to hit with a flexier shaft and a stiff hoop for example.
The swingweight makes a big difference to my game. I play much better with higher swingweight > 330.
I would prefer the catch and release feel that gives that directional control feel, which I assume comes from the way flex is distributed in the frame.
I like open string pattern more than closed one, for the steeper ball trajectory they generate.

I am from Europe and I'd think I am a 5.0+ level player.

To name a few Retail raquets that I put my eyes on:
Dunlop 200 Tour (4D and Bio versions), Volkl PB10 Mid, Donnay Pro One 97 (in the order of preference)
The last two have lower <330 swingweights but their static weight and balance (at least for the volkl) allows customization.

Could these compare?
Please give me other examples if you know.

Ok, so from what I read Head IG Radical Pro is recommended here by many. But comparing it with the Donnay P1 is not much of a difference. So I would go with the donnay between these two. Thus there is one more step for me, Dunlop Biomimetic 200 Tour or Donnay Pro One 97 (16x19)

Donnay Pro One 97 (16x19) also has the prostock frame feel, and it is easily customizable using its kit.
But what makes me weary is the balance of only 4pts and also donnay quality control for these raquets and the high price.

The Dunlop Bio 200T (very good spec wise 360g, sw 340g, 61flex) has very high review scores from TW, best of any raquet I have seen.
And I have read good things about it (a few not that good) in forum.
But not to many users are using it, thus I don't know if it comes close to a pro racquet or not?
It has a pretty stiff hoop and flexes more above handle, probably like the Wilson H22, but does it have the same feel of a prostock frame (the specs are there though)?

And also the Dunlop will have an appealing price when on sale.

Help me choose between these 2

Thanks

From what I have read I THINK it's like this

Pro stock frames use the same molds as the retail frames but materials are different?
Or the mold will be different maybe a previous version like PC600 and the PT10 are the same mold, but materials of the racket are different??

I think vsbabolat or someone more experienced can tell you which frames may be similar or close.

In my opinion, I suppose the more classic frames, like PC600 itself, or PT630 etc would be more closer to the pro stock frame than the majority of frames being sold today..

That's just my opinion of what I have read, someone correct me if i'm wrong

I have had and have an array of PTs , TGKs and H22 and H19s and also Dunlop and Yonex pro stock frames. in my view the Wilson Nblade mp isnt a bad retail racket if one like a somewhat softer flex ala PT57as. And yes the Pro Tour 600 , Pro Classic 600 and Pro Tour 630/280 are not far either of course.

Ok,
Pro Tour 600 , Pro Classic 600, 630,
Wilson N Blade MP

But, specs don't look appealing to me and are old racquets anyway.

I am looking for something that is on the market right now.
If I am seteled for something I will defentively get my hands on it (even tough I can't demo here in europe from TW) and then buy.

Hey bud, you looking for a Pro kennex Black Ace 98.

Very very close feel to the pt57a!!

Just a tad more power and spin, and 57a has just a tad more control.

This is as close as you can get, very similar feel.

But not highly as customizable at the 57a.

I have a few pro stock rackets and the biggest thing is that they all come really light to allow for customization. For the Mid size (90) the Dunlop AG100 is so light it lends itself to customization to your specs.

For Mid Plus frames. I would have to agree that the Wilson N Blade is a great choice. It has lots of power and very comfortable, not too heavy and easy to customize.

I have the i.Prestige and its already pretty heavy.

.
Pro Kennex Black Ace and Redondo have all closed string patters but yes they are very flexible < 60. I suppose that is what links them to the pt57a. I don't know about where they flex, if it is the same places on the racquet or not.

Apdgt.....
good for customization, good swingweight, but not my style at all, big head, stiff, pretty high balance point.

Yonex Vcore Tours!! :p
head shape not my style, but interesting anyway.

Someone could tell me some words about
Dunlops 200 Tour. Do they hit close to a pro stock? (bio or/and 4d version)
They look very good spec wise to me, maybe a little to heavy and would not allow customization.

Angell rackets (formally vantage) would be worth a try. The owner was the designer with dunlop when they were good.

Anyone that played pro stock and Dunlop Biomimetic 200 Tour.

From what I read in the forums it has a crisp hoop and a flexible shaft (pretty flexible overall RA62) and the specs (high swingweight) look good.

Is this racquet anywhere close to a pro stock frame?

Ig radical pro as close as it gets to Tgk 260 series that many many head sponsored pros are using now

Relatively light weight for a players frame. A little silicone in the handle, some lead in the hoop and you have a > 12oz racquet with a nice soft flex and an open string pattern.

The NBlade 98 really felt that good? Will have to file this away for future racaholic endeavors. Loved the KBlade 98 except feel was a bit meh and the frame was very unstable at net, but from the back, ton of fun.

I like the feel of the Mid much better. It feels closest to the Prestige Classic that I have hit with.

Thank you I got the same impression from my other frens as well but how does the YTIG mp compare against the other renditions like the t630 etc and is it as good as it gets from the latest modern renditions of this classic stick?

I narrowed it down to these two

Dunlop Biomimetic 200 Tour
Donnay Pro One 97 (16x19)

Please help me chose.

It used to be the case that Babolat didn't produce pro stock frames. Their players played stock rackets that may of course have been modified. I don't know whether that is still the case. But I think that if you buy an APD you are getting the same basic racket that APD users play on tour.

The 200 tour is a total rocket launcher from my experience. It had so much plow through.

Have you checked out the Redondo MP? It has a very low flex and if you don't mind a bit heavier weight you can lead it up to whatever you want. :)

Based upon what you are asking for, the head radical pro and bab pure storm tour are certainly worth a look.

Both have high sw, rather open pattern except the pstgt is a bit tighter. In fact before Berdych before being signed on by head was using a off the shelf head radical pro.

Sampras too was using a blacked out pure storm tour so I think both frames are very good.

Other then Vantage I haven't seen any sticks that have the same build quality except during the 630 or iprestige.

Dunlop 4d 300 tour is like a pro stock racquet. If you mean in terms of feel, then that is different.

I talked with vsb about this when I had a yt prestige mid and the tgk version of the same stick. It is the same racquet, just the layups are different. Basically the Flex in the hoop of the tgk I had made it feel a little different, but it was still the same materials.

I to like the catch and release feel, and that comes from a nice flex. To be honest, I think the best setup for that feel is more from the strings. If you use a gut/poly hybrid it will really give you that feel in about any frame of your preference. I had that feel in a babolat pure drive for example, just because I used that string setup.

I assume you ment Dunlop 4d 200 tour not 300.

And yes, in terms of feel I am asking, especially. because there are a few retail raquets that have close to pro specs (weight, swingweight) or a bit lower (and can be customized)

Hey PP, I've been meaning to ask you...

When using a gut/poly hybrid, is having the absolute smoothest poly available the best combo with gut, or is having a textured poly better for the spin production? I've been thinking about trying it out next time I get some gut, and maybe mixing it with a smooth poly since in my mind a textured poly would just eat through the gut?

no, he meant 300 tour. that racquet comes from the same mold as, correct me if i'm wrong, berdych and blake's racquets when they were with dunlop. (maybe haas too?)

It depends on your preferences, i would choose the pro one 97 (there is more room for customizayion and I like a 63/67 rdc stiffness)
Other sticks: Yes, the Dunlop 300 Tour (ag4d, or the Bio) the last one is a little bit stiffer, but both (for Me )very confortable
Volkl PB9 , excelent! Need to be customize it s a 98 sq and 16x19
Good luck!!

Yes thank you. The 4d200tour is a very heavy stick with no room for customizing, whereas the mold is like you said with the 300t and it is very light with a lot of room to customize.

If it is in terms of feel, you want something that has some flex to it. Preferably around 65 RA or less, so the 300T delivers there as well.

I demoed the Dunlop Bio 200 Tour. I didn't like it. If this is a "players" frame it lacks a solid feel and control is so-so at best. I use a Volkl C10 Pro Tour as my main racquet so I am use to a smaller head size anyway. With the 200 Tour I could not get the solid plow through I would have expected with this racquet.

4D tour is much better IMO than the Bio version. More feel, better SW and balance.

go for Pro Stock

my suggestion is to just bite the bullet and buy pro stock frames. if you play a lot and are spending money on string/stringing, balls, shoes, grips, court time etc... a $400 racket is not that expensive when spread out over the life of use. with some effort you can get the price down to about $250-$300 per stick. you can try stringforum.net

if you dont want to buy a pro stock frame, dont overlook the Slazenger Pro Braided. it is on the stiffer side, but does not play as stiff as the spec says. my guess by feel it is around 66 (not 73 as indicated).

with 11.5oz and 330SW it can be a little unstable when hit off center. i would add weight in the 3/4 o'clock and 8/9 o'clock and some weight to the handle for better balance. i prefer 7-8pts HL.

I would do that probably in the case I will know for sure there is no Retail frame close to the way a Pro Stock frame plays (not even after customization)
Until then why would I want to spend close to $2000 for prostock frames when I could buy, while on sale, 6 retails frames at the price or 1 or max 2 pro frames,

And this was the purpose of my question to find if there are such frames to buy from TW right now.

The only stick that I know of that plays anything like a pro stock is the vantage.

If you know exactly what you are looking for in a stick the vantage plays as good as it gets.

Thanks for the tip mawashi but Vantage frames are pretty expensive as well.
What I really want is to settle for a good Retail frame and stock up (buy more than 6 probably) when they go on sale (<130$, depending on producer)

A good retail that is going for <$130 is the pstgt 2009 and it's good enough for pete lol!

HEAD IG Prestige Mid. It feels just like a Prestige Classic 600.

What do you think about Head IG Prestige Pro? (on which i had put my eyes also)
It has better swingweight and twistweight (pro stock frame wise) and is 16x19
Don't really like close string pattern ball trajectory.

How does it compare to the Mid?

The IG Prestige Pro is a bit of a rough ride for myself. I've restrung it with several different combinations hoping for a better feel but, man is it ever hard on the arm. It's like a way more solid feeling pure drive. It's heavy, very stiff, and his a heavy ball. If your arm is able to take it, it would be an awesome frame, but for myself it's just too harsh.

For comparison, I play my 6.1 series rackets without the slightest bit of shoulder or arm discomfort. The 6.1's I feel are way more plush feeling with that "classic feel" while the Prestige Pro is a modern players frame.

To be perfectly honest you have completely missed the point of Pro Stock. The main purpose of "Pro Stock" is so the you can Customize the frame to your desired specifications and then be able to match those specs to all of your frames.

The IG Prestige Pro has no room for customization unless you want to go heavier. Since you only like 16x19 string patterns then I recommend you think about the:

HEAD IG Radical Pro
Donnay Pro One 16x19
Yonex Vcore 98D
Tecnifibre TFight 295 VO2 Max

All of these racquets have room for customization and matching. My personal favorite of the group is the IG Radical Pro.

Good Luck!
