Stadium (from 17.00hrs)
1. Serena Williams vs. Li Na
2. Victoria Azarenka vs. Angelique Kerber
3. Maria Sharapova vs. Agnieszka Radwanska

These looks like better matchups than today. There should be atleast 1 competitive match amongst those three, hopefully atleast 2.

Even more than Wozniacki or Dokic??

I agree she could use another voice in her camp. She just tries to hit winners on every point. Not just any winners, but on the line winners even when half the court is open. I'm still fuming over her blowing set pt. against Sharapova at the AO when 75% of the court was open, but Petra hit a line drive wide. WHY do you insist on frustrating your fans playing this way?!?! She needs a brain upgrade ASAP!!!

It's so frustrating to watch. If you are making error after error, take a little bit off your ground strokes! She doesn't need to crush the ball on every point. The brainless ball bashing doesn't work all the time lol.

Kvitova has possible made things awkward for Masha, let's see what she'll do against Sam tmr, I'll expect her to win today against Radwanska.

Serena breaks in the opening game, I just feel Li Na is too unpredictable in her play to challenge serena throughout the whole match.
EDIT: ok Li Na steps it up a bit and breaks back, i hope this is a good match

It seems to me that just like Maria, this is the only way Petra can play to be really effective on a tennis court. Petra can be just a tad more versatile than Maria but that's certainly not enough to change her whole game when things are going bad. They need the lines to be working for them 70-80% of the time or it's nothing than just brainless ballbashing.

Unfortunately (anyways for those who had enormous trust in Petra) she's never going to have a 'Serena like' career (e.g. 20 plus majors, domination...)... the physical limitations that she has but also the uncertainty of her game could be certainly some of the various reasons. I think Victoria despite all the critics about her game/talent and/or else, is clearly set to be the be "next Serena" (or close) if eventually there was to be one in the actual generation.

What's up with Serena, her serve just isn't working today. Although I am glad to see Li a bit more consistent today, reducing her DF and errors (compared to how she has done recently)

Queen Serena wins 76 63 against Na Li. The Queen has been very erratic in this tournament, she hasn't played since the USO.

It was like a trainwreck colliding with the Titanic. The toll included (on Serena's end): 1 destroyed racket, 3 footfaults, two or three times looking like she was on the verge of tears, and a serve that went on vacation for 3/4ths of the match. Li Na was her usual self - moments of good shotmaking bookended by errors being sprayed everywhere.

Actually, this match was like two Li Nas going against each other.

wow it looked like Vika had this tie-break but Kerber has managed to make it 6-all
EDIT: now Kerber has set point

to think Kerber was in the 100s in terms of rankings last year, she deserves 'Most Improved Player' for sure

Vika survives. Tomorrow, Vika-Serena. Both of them have a lot of room for improvement, but I'm expecting it's going to be good.

Sharapova should just laugh and tell Radwanksa how bad she is. "Keep praying for me to make errors, that's the only way you win matches."

Errani was a better improvement.

She was just a regular player, and then started to own minor clay events, ending up being a Roland Garros runner-up.

Still, Sharapova did nothing wrong in the first set and she lost it 7-5. It's not like Sharapova was spreading errors left and right, she's actually playing very well.

I can't stand Radwanska. She hits the ball like a 5 year old and just waits for her opponent to make an error.

False. She hits winners. Just mostly through placement, spin and craftiness instead of power.

PS - Not much waiting when you're playing UE machines like Kvitova and Maria.

Yea, you see what happens when Kvitova or Sharapova aren't having a bad day. That's why Kvitova was previously 3-0 against Radwanska.
