Nadal should skip Australian Open as well - make his return on clay - probably be easier on the knees.
You can scratch that idea. Nadal is already talking about Indian Wells and Miami. And the doctor told Nadal that his knees are ready for a return to the tour now. So no reason to skip AO, as he's already committed to returning before the clay season.
Ugh. Was really looking forward to seeing Nadal play.
Except he committed to abu dhabi months ago. You're as delusional as anyone I've ever seen.
Doctors said pull out. Is AO still on?
Who said it other than the well known troll? You have no one so you just skirt around the question.
Yeah
I was looking forward to seeing him. A stomach virus now?, bad things really do come all together... I guess it could be the knee and he's just saying this, but he sounded so sure about playing just a few says ago, I don't see what could have changed.

It's not his knee Crisstti, it's a plain old virus or flu. Neil Harmon mentioned in his interview with him last week that Rafa wasn't feeling well and in this article it says he was sick at his team dinner on Dec 20 and spent the next day in bed. http://deportes.elpais.com/deportes/2012/12/25/actualidad/1356448813_863430.html
It sounds like he has learned his lesson from 2011 when he caught a bug from Maymo in Doha and tried to play through it but it caused him problems for weeks. He plays so hard and with so much intensity that he needs his body to be at 100% so I'm glad he's being smart this time. Hope he gets better soon.
Nope, he is right. Nadal "knew" he would not play Abu Dhabi just like he knew he would not play all the events after Wimbledon. He has been doing the same act for every tournament since Wimbledon--i.e. tell fans he intends to be fine and play and then pull out right before the event.

Well... that's like sort like saying Roddick can kick Federer's butt too.Murray can kick his butt too, now..
No, he's not right and neither are you. It's just the usual wild speculations you love so much.
BTW, he's said it's the knee for all the other withdrawals. I guess for some magical reason he decided to change the story this time right?.
Just admit it: You have NO idea what is going on. You for sure don't know any more about it than anyone else here.
You know this how? Have you spoken to Nadal personally in the past day or so?
What do you mean he just decided to change the story? There have been 10 versions of this whole injury story since that Wimbledon loss.
I don't know what is going on, but I can tell you one thing, it sure sounds suspicious to me and I doubt I am the only one who feels that way. If you want to believe every inconsistent word of this story, knock yourself out.
....
I have that one, really bad feeling now.
Was Rosol Nadal's last match ever? I have that bad feeling.
This man's career is nearing its end. Better he admit this rather than keep pulling out at the last minute and making excuses.
Then do me a favor and post this: "My name is Phoenix1983, today is 26th December 2012 and I know for a fact that Nadal will never win a grand slam title ever again"...

Nice to see that the conspiracy theorists and trolls are still on Nadal's case.
They give me a good laugh I must say. Even normally decent posters like cc0509 believe that Nadal KNEW(right after losing to Rosol) that he would not play ANY of the events after Wimbledon(so he KNEW at that moment that he would skip all the events for the next 7 months) but he decided to tease everyone by saying that he is trying to recuperate himself for those events. Heck, he even upped the ante a couple of weeks ago by showing training footage of himself just to keep appearances up.
To keep in line with these comments, I must say that Nadal was probably silently re-banned. The guys that banned him the first time decided that their calcuations were off and Nadal's didn't serve enough so they e-mailed him that he needs to stay on the bench for another week or so just to make sure.
Couldn't care less about an exo like Abu Dhabi but I'm starting to wonder how he's gonna handle AO with so few competitive matches to get him back on track beforehand... I hope he'll get a gentle draw at least.

Will Rafa play Doha? Because if he doesn't, I don't think he'd want his 1st event back to be a slam. He'd be better off starting his season in Acapulco (although it would hurt his ranking of course)
LOL - Fed has no chanced to beat Nadal in a slam ever again.. That last AO match was the final proof!
What date does the AO start?
I was wondering if you had a computer and access to the internet? What date does the AO start?
I said his career was near its end. It's not 100% that he will never win a slam title again but the odds of doing so off clay are very low.
Imagine how low Nadal's chances were in March 2010 when he was ranked 4 in the world! Then he moved up to number one in the world by June 2010, and the rest is history - only man ever to win slams on clay, grass and hardcourt in a Calendar Year. And why did almost nobody see it coming? Because almost nobody understands Nadal. And nobody understands Djokovic, because at the end of 2010, nobody expected Djokovic to win 3 slams in 2011. Or maybe Djokovic winning 3 slams was all because Nadal injured his foot vs Del Potro at Wimbledon and couldn't train for 6 weeks after Wimbledon.

Nadal didn't damage his foot against Del Potro. The x-ray showed that Nadal's foot was perfectly fine and that he's just a hypochondriac making excuses in case he disappoints his demanding father.
Nadal moved back up to #1 in 2010 from hard work and sheer will but it also helped that he didn't have much competition due to Djokovic's massive slump, Del Potro being out of tennis, Federer losing to clowns, etc. Not much in the way for Nadal to bag several titles. His US Open draw is the biggest joke of a draw in years. Who was the best played he played prior to the final? Gilles Simon? The same Simon who wanted to book a flight home that same day to see his baby being born.
Crisstti;7080207]Why would they be very low?, he reached the final of the last two hc slams he played.
