Davydenko will defeat himself, he hardly needs Federer for that. Federer will make it to the third round, and if Tomic does then he did it losing at least one set and almost another to rank 120 in the world qualifier Daniel Brands

Tomic has a very distinctive style, both game and personality. One of the young guys will have to break through eventually. I fancy Tomic to possibly be the one rather than overrated Dimitrov at this point.

I think he can be. But I think Tomic needs to add some topspin to his game. And his second serve is very sub-par at the tour level.

I haven't ever seen Brands play before but I'm liking his game. Tomic seems to have improved from when I saw him last, but his failure/unwillingness to do much of anything with Brands's serve is really hurting him.

I hate Federer with all my heart and because Dimitrov plays like him I hate him too. I don't care about Tomic or at least wouldn't care about him if he was in a different section of the draw.
Obviously I had to mention Dimitrov as the one who WON'T break it to the top while ignoring the likes of Raonic and Janowicz at the same time which proves how biased I am"

Federer indeed WAS arrogant a few years back but when he was winning 3 majors a year for fun and barely lost a match in a season so his arrogance was perfectly understandable.

I like Tomic and I feel Brands is the kind of guy he should beat especially at AO. I feel it would be a disappointing counterperf at this point in his career not to. Unlike you, I am not obsessed with Fed.

Let me get this straight. So you hate Federer for his style and arrogance but you like Tomic despite him being arrogant (without backing it up with results unlike Fed) and playing with variety (like Federer).

This match is a perfect example of why Tomic is dreaming if he thinks he'll ever be in the top echelon of players. His movement is worse than many club level players and his hustle is barely evident at all.
In the first two sets alone he lost about 20 points because he was too casual with his movement.
