Well I don't see it as an offense but I see no point in doing it. Do you see Fed tearing his shirt off after the 19-17 semi against Delpo in the Olympics, and that match was in the semis as well, not just a pathetic 4th round match.

The poll is poorly worded. Are we voting yes/no for the sanctions or for the shirt ripping? It's ambiguous.
I don't think it should be banned, just ridiculed. It was a bit tasteless in my opinion and contradicts the ultra-defensive manner in which he played the match. I feel the same way about the bicep flexing/kissing that some of the other pushers, sorry players, do after points.
I don't think he intended to cause offense, rather was focused on being an celebrity entertainer and congratulating himself. I think it was a cheesy move, but Novak is a cheesy guy (gagnam style overuse anyone?) so it isn't out of character. This isn't WWF, I would have thought only small children would find the hulk hogan theatrics entertaining, perhaps I was wrong.

I like Novak - usually I find him to be gracious in defeat and I think he is a classy athlete who is really just out to enjoy himself most of the time, HOWEVER that shirt thing is a little 'GHEY' and a lot cheesy.

Subjective, you can say that you don't find anything wrong with that. I do feel that repulsive. So to each, ones own view. However, there is a reason why FIFA gives yellow cards to players who take off their shirts.
Djokovic doesn't have any class at all while celebrating. That's my view. You can disagree. I saw your gif for haters, and please not that people who find that repulsive are not haters. Not everyone is a Djokovic fan to enjoy all those disgusting acts

The yellow for taking the shirt off is one of the worst rules in football, and even then you only get a yellow for taking it off during the match - not after.
If Djokovic celebrates winning a point/set the same way then sure give him a warning but 'disgusting' and 'classless' are hilarious words to describe this situation :lol:

I've been trying to imagine other players ripping their shirts off. Has anyone else done it after a match? Who are some of the guys that you could picture doing it? I can picture players like Monfils, Janowicz, even Nadal doing it or something similar. It makes me laugh out loud picturing Federer or Murray or someone quiet like Cilic.
This was voted one of the highlights of London 2012! The German discus winner tore his shirt off, wrapped himself in his flag and went over the hurdles and everyone in Britain loved him for it.

That was at the friggin Olympics, which come around every 4 years, can be the culmination of all your life's work. This was a friggin 4th round match and he did it on court in front of of his opponent who was pretty heartbroken.
Anyway, would love to see someone do the shirt-tearing thing to Joker and see what he thinks.

even Nadal and federer almost lost in many 3rd and 4th round matches but came back strongly..

that's an interesting point. would it be less vulgar if one of the more muscular players did it? also, one with a more aggressive playing style? maybe not as odd as skinny Novak doing it, but i still would think it is cheesy and a bit tasteless. If Federer did it i would probably fall over laughing at him. I'm sure Mirka would be mortified. I can imagine all the press and comedians making fun of it.
I can see Janowicz doing it out of frustration after a bad call! Or maybe Monfils doing it as a joke or ironically while clowning around, but it's just too cheesy a move to do seriously the way Djokovic does it.
I'm struggling to picture a context in which it would make sense to do this in tennis, in a celebratory manner.

I like Novak, but I think it was over the top in this case, considering the relative difference in rank, the relative earliness in the tournament, the fact that he possibly skated by on a bad line call, etc. It would've been classier not to do it.
On the other hand, for tournament finals, or where you've been battling it out with someone who's approximately your equal, I think it's fine. It's hard to put into words, but one feels earned and one feels like you're being a jerk.

If anything, it acknowledges just how good Stan played, and how REAL the threat to the champ Stan really was. Maybe it was a little too much, but this was an absolute thriller of a match that was just filled with quality.

Thanks for that but it's only the 277th most popular name in Croatia which isn't very popular and I did a little research myself and saw some comments about Goran's father actually being Serbian. Not sure how reliable these are.
