iRad, I'm in my last semester of nursing school. Fridays I'm at Sibley in clinical rotation all day.

Zap, I'm not sure there is anyone else I would take a food recommendation from other than Sappy. TMonk is a very very close second.

@Topaz Congratulations! I'm doing the Army's LPN program at the Bethesda Naval Hospital. Heading into our Peds rotation in about a month. When you graduate perhaps you'd like to join the dark side and commission as an Officer!

i hear there is a giant hiring freeze

yeah. all the agencies don't know if the sequestration will happen and if so, how bad will it be? So everyone is on a hold and wait status. All the politicians point to a flat 10% cut across the board. But anytime when anyone gives a percentage, it leaves room for negotiations.

Alot of the plans are pretty much drawn out already as many agency heads have dusted off last contingency plans when the last govt shutdown was adverted. I have a feeling it's going to be another kick the can for another 3 months scenario again. It's going to be interested how furloughs will be implemented if it happens?

mclovin, i have your pacific frame....but no time to string it...

you playing tonight?

As you already know, I played tonight. Tough match, but we pulled it out 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. My partner, one of the local high school players, was a bit nervous in the beginning, but once she loosened up, she ripped some nice shots. We were the only 7:00 win for CFAC.

How'd you do? Ed has a killer server & a nice forehand. I've always joked with him that he's "a backhand away from being a 4.5", although he did get bumped this year. He'll be on the 4.5 team.

good comeback win tonight! even if it was at the expense of our team...haha, you were the only court to go the distance! i like that they play out the 3rd set...that's how it should be!

but yeah, that Ed guy is pretty good! he burned me a few times up the line with that big forehand and his serve is definitely 4.5...but yeah, i went after his backhand -- especially when i was serving...i've been feeling "on" lately and my partner was solid at the net...so yeah, we won...6-3, 6-1...

do you play tomorrow?

I've given it thought before...but I may be too old? Also, I will have a AD RN...this is a second (really third) career for me. I think military wants you to have a BSN. But, I think I'm only two more courses from that once I graduate. I haven't investigated it further yet.

We actually don't get a peds rotation. Kinda sucks. I'm in telemetry right now, and we do float to ICU. What are you in now?

Yeah, playing the 3rd set is much better than that 10-point TB crap. We spotted them 4 games in the 1st set, but I just kept telling my partner that it was a marathon, not a sprint. Whether we lose the 1st 6-0 or 7-6 makes no difference: They have to win 2 sets. I also kept cracking jokes throughout the match to keep her loose. She's got some of the most fluid strokes off both sides, and once she gains confidence, lookout.

How was Ed's partner? He was supposed to play w/ Derek's partner (another high school girl), but there was a last-minute lineup change. I've never seen her before tonight, and my wife said she was a bit nervous.

My next match is Sunday @ 2, although I'm playing tomorrow before the matches w/ my wife for fun.

Oh ok, there are a few states that will let you Comission into the National Guard with an ADN so long as you get your BSN within 24 months. For Active Duty the age cut off is 42 I believe. Nice, I can't wait until our critical care rotation, right now we're in classroom mode unfortunately. Endocrine test on monday.

If you go service, you gotta go Navy. Those other outfits are pretty good, but USN is just a tad better in every way you can measure. And you would look good in Navy blue.

Just sayin'.

Congrats on all you have accomplished, BTW, both in the classroom and on the court. Shows you have a singular commitment to excellence. Proud of you. :)

Captain my first match in 4.0 55+ tomorrow; wish us luck. (We stand a chance to win a match since I'm not in the lineup. LOL)

Go where without ships and airplanes? Tupelo, Mississippi? Sure can't get to Europe or Asia or anywhere else withour us or the AF.

Unless you guys have a submarine tank we don't know about.

LOL, all in good fun, of course. All service branches are special in their own way.

Of course! My Dad was Air Force and we talk mess to each other constantly haha. I had never worked with the Navy or Air Force before coming to the Naval Hospital here for nursing school but it is really fun working with the other services. The Navy puts out some outstanding nurses and the corpsmen great as well.

want a gyro. but nothing around Gaithersburg area.

edit: okay, broke down to 2nd choice. Korean Noodle Soup at Han Kook's in Lotte's. Besides Noodles, should I get them fake Bonchon's? It's like $13 for around 20 wing sections. $13/20 wings is like 65c a wing. Not that bad, right?

CB -- the ganpoongki is probably the best in the area. ask for side of steamed rice. goes great with the peas and carrots that are cooked with the fried chicken. they give you pickled radish and kimchi. you could also go to the viet place next to it and get some pretty good banh mi.

when is the weather going to warm up enough for me to hit outside again?

Haha. You need to go to REI and try them all out but you can get them cheaper elsewhere. I like the Kangaroo leather KSO Treks most. They're the most durable and don't stink up your feet (leather) as much like the man-made materials do. You can jog and walk and do hikes in them just fine. Also, if you don't wanna go sock-less, get the Injinji toe socks. Usually 1 size difference max between no socks and Injinji.

Still gotta pay and get that 20 yo Scotch bottle from you...if it's not already empty?!?

Haha monkey, thanks for being so kind but I shamelessly corrected you above! But monkey is correct - they won't hurt your ankles and knee any more per se but until you're used to them, your feet (sole/heel) will hurt running around at first.

Well I have gall bladder anymore. The cuts from Lapro are healing pretty well. havent noticed anythign different yet as far as taste and digestion is concerned.

Was in quite a biut of pain for about 4 days. Then its was tolerable pain. Now there is harly any pain at all. They hit me after surgery pretty hard withpain meds or they went extra hard on anestesia. It took me quite a while to be able to stand up and be comfortable after the surgery.

Still cant do any heavy lifting or activity for another 2 weeks though.

A girl I work with and my father-in-law had the same surgery. Certain foods just pass through both of them. You'll want to be close to a bathroom anytime you try new foods until you figure it out.

Hope you feel better soon man, how old are you? I was 20 when I had mine taken out and recovered fairly quickly, the first couple of days were damn terrible as I remember them though but it was smooth sailing after that. I worked at Lowe's at the time and I want to say that I was lifting bags of concrete again in about 10-14 days. Pretty easy recovery if you're younger and in fairly good shape.

HW that's the same exact surgery I had for it. Because there are multiple 'puncture' sites you will feel it in your abdomen for a while. They also pump you full of CO2 during the surgery to expand everything (so they can get inside! heheh) and it takes a while for that to completely leave your system.

iRad and X, they are *both* options...but I have to say, since I've flirted with the Navy before (through the Navy Band) I'd probably go blue first. Xis, thanks for the kind words...it has not been easy. Tennis has definitely taken a hit, too. Kinda makes the bump to 4.0 pretty ironic.

Just found out today I got a preceptorship for the second half of my LAST semester! Woowoot!

i believe so since unemployment is state driven. But i think we have to be over 30 days out of work in order to apply. But according to fed employment rules, I believe > 30 is considered as a layoff. Therefore, what will happen is they will hand us 22/ 1 day unpaid leave.

Sap: Have they started handed letters out yet? I thought they can't until Friday, 3/1? But it won't take into effect until 4/1. (30 day rule to notify of alteration of leave policy).

I am thinking about the bigger thing, what are they going to do on 3/27? That's when CR ends again. Is the can going to be kicked down the road again for another 3 months? If no CR or budget, doesn't matter if Sequestation happens, govt shuts down.

There is a Wegmans being built a little south of Kingstowne next to Beulah in Alexandria! I also heard that there is a Costco being built by Walmart on Route 1. Not positive about the second one. Excited because I'll finally have a Wegmans near me!

Random Request - Just wondering, any one demo the recent blade 98?

---

RE: Wegmans - IMHO, that place it so big, it's tiring to shop there. We have one off of 28 out toward Ashburn. Only gone in a few times, but it seems to take 10 minutes to locate what you want to buy. However, it was the one place where I could find Mango jam for a chicken marinade - though it took about 30 minutes before the clerk found. System said it was on the shelves, just didn't tell us where.
